Kurt sighed. Finn was actually beside himself at the fact that his brother had gone in the water, nevertheless water skied. “I know it might surprise you Finn, but just because I don’t play football doesn’t mean I’m not athletic.”
Why does he shrink in on himself like that? Blaine. He was bewildered that Kurt could feel so bad so quickly, even after doing such an awesome job water skiing just then.
“No Kurt, I hear you,” Blaine added. “I’m a boxer. You don’t have to play football to be athletic!” He reached over to touch Kurt's arm, hoping to be reassuring.
Blaine was just so happy that Kurt couldn't help but smile. All day, he had been unable to keep Blaine's infectious grin off his own face, and even Finn's stupid remarks couldn't hold him down.
The day had been, to put it briefly, remarkable. They had had so much fun exploring the camp, hanging out, eating, and just enjoying each other’s company. Kurt was so glad that Sam had brought his cousin along, as Blaine had been nothing but welcoming the entire day, something Kurt wasn't too used to with other guys the first time they met.
And frankly, Kurt’s gaydar had been going off all day.
The four boys had just pulled back into the dock, the side of the boat rocking against the buoys strapped to the side of the dock to protect it. Blaine hopped out and quickly secured the boat, reaching a hand out for Kurt to help him onto the dock. Sam and Finn, obvlivous as always, jumped and began walking up towards the house.
"So I've got an awesome idea for later. Like it's actually the best idea I've ever had," Finn began, ignorant of the moment Kurt and Blaine seemed to be having.
“Well this won’t end well,” Kurt mumbled to Blaine, who, of course, chuckled.
“No really! This will be great!" Finn paused for dramatic effect. "After dinner, let’s play truth or dare!” Finn shouted.
“Yeah!” Sam jumped in agreement. “Fantastic idea bro. I’m really very proud of you." They clamped each other on the back and hurried up the path to the house, chatting excitedly the entire way.
Kurt's shoulders slumped in defeat. "This can't end well," he grumbled, and headed up the path behind them.
But Blaine could care less about a silly game. His mind only had room for one thought.
How can I make him happy?
Comments
This was really good. It is nice to see that Blaine realizes that Kurt is unhappy and that he wants to try to change it. I can't wait to see how their game of truth or dare goes.
