Kurt’s in his last class of the day and instead of paying attention to the lesson, naturally he is tapping his pen on the desk and staring at the clock.
“Kurt!” Rachel says next to him as quietly as she can so she doesn’t get yelled at. Kurt is too deep in thought to hear her hiss out his name. After trying to get his attention for a couple of minutes she finally decides to give up and elbows him in the side.
“Ow!” he says as he shoots her a death glare. “Mr. Hummel is there a problem?” the teacher says to him. The class turns to stare.
“Uhhh, no Sir. I just... Uhh, no.” He says. There are a few snickers and murmurs from the other students in the class. Kurt turns red and puts his head in his hands and lets out a sigh.
The bell rings and the class gets let out. Kurt makes a dash for the door and almost runs to his locker. He has to judge time so Blaine can get to his house but he is just too excited. He grabs his bag and homework and is almost ready to go when Rachel catches up to him.
“Are you ok? I was going to kill you with your own pen back in class!” She says to him with a small laugh. Kurt looks at her and deliberates telling her about Blaine or not.
Knowing Rachel she would just think he was hanging out with Blaine due to pity. They will all think that.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just really wanted to get out of there.” He says to her with a smile. Rachel looks at him with a suspicious look on her face, “Why in such the rush?”
“I… wanted school to be over so I can just go home and go outside and relax… You know, while it’s still the warm fall weather.” Hopefully that makes sense to her and she just lets it go.
She nods and says “Yeah I know what you mean, but I think it’s getting a little cold out today.”
“I’ll wear gloves” he says as he slams his locker shut and proceeds to walk down the hall. He waves goodbye to Rachel as he goes. Rachel waves and immediately pulls out her phone to text Finn... He was right; something is definitely up with Kurt.
It’s 3:45 when the doorbell rings. Kurt runs down the stairs, skipping the last two steps and jumping off and landing with a loud thud from his boots.
He grabs his coat off the hook and opens the door. When he does so, Blaine is not standing on the porch. He and Emma are standing out by the tree near the street; Emma seems to be extremely focused on it for some reason.
Kurt walks over to them and puts his hand on Blaine’s shoulder and says “Hey stranger.” Blaine tenses for a minute but relaxes when he recognizes Kurt’s voice. “Good afternoon, Kurt. How was school today?”
Kurt smiles and says “Beyond boring, it felt like my last class was going to go on for days.” Kurt finally notices that Blaine has two coffees in a holder in his one free hand.
“Well maybe this will make up for it?” He says with a large smile on his face. Kurt takes the cup that is marked with his name and takes a sip from it. He smiles, “You remembered my coffee order?”
“Of course I did” Blaine says with a light chuckle. Kurt takes Blaine’s out from the tray as well and says “Here, open your hand out.” Blaine does so and Kurt puts the coffee in his hand. Blaine smiles and thanks Kurt.
“Let me just toss this in the garbage can and then we can go.” Blaine nods his head in response and waits for Kurt to return. While waiting he drinks the majority of his coffee. There is no reason to be nervous, it’s just a walk with Kurt but yet he still is.
“Ok, where shall we go?” Kurt asks when he comes back. Blaine shrugs his shoulders and Kurt laughs and turns his attention to Emma. “What do you say girl, how about the park?” Emma barks and wags her tail as if saying a definite yes.
“Sounds good to me!” Blaine says as he motions for Kurt to take the lead. They make their way to the park, talking about their day at school as they do so.
Kurt finally notices how cold it really is getting when he was done with his coffee and threw his and Blaine’s out. Maybe he really should have grabbed his gloves, his hands are like icicles.
“Oh let’s stop here. I have a tennis ball in my pocket and Emma loves to play fetch in this part of the park.” Kurt says. Emma perks up at the word ball. Blaine lets her off her leash and she runs around smelling the air.
Kurt is about to let Blaine throw the ball when Emma sees a squirrel and runs to a tree and begins to bark. Kurt laughs and then tells Blaine what is going on. Seeing her so focused on the tree makes him think of earlier when she was staring at it.
“Why were you both standing by the tree when I came out of my house?” Kurt asks as he watches Emma at the tree.
Blaine laughs and says “Oh! She must have seen a cat or something because I heard a hiss and then the next thing I know I am being pulled off the porch! I almost dropped our coffee all over myself!”
“I would have paid to see that!” Kurt says while trying to control his laughter.
“Kurt, now you’ve hurt my feelings” Blaine says with a pout on his face. He looks like a sad puppy and Kurt’s heart skips a beat a little bit. He’s pretty sure he is starting to fall for Blaine... Yea, that's a definite.
“I’m going to call Emma away from the tree, she really wants that squirrel.” Kurt says with a laugh. Blaine nods and waits till he hears Emma come running back. “Would you like the first throw?” Kurt asks him.
“No, you go ahead and take it.” He says with a smile. They play fetch for a long time and the air continues to get colder. It gets so cold that Kurt’s teeth begin to chatter. “Kurt, are you cold?” Blaine asks.
“Oh, no. I’m fine.” He says. He is completely lying. His hands feel like they are going to fall off. Kurt tosses the ball again and then puts his hand at his side.
Blaine shifts his position and this causes his hand to touch Kurt’s. “Kurt, your hands are absolutely freezing.” Kurt is about to respond when Blaine reaches down and takes Kurt’s hands into his own.
“Blaine…. What are you doing?” Kurt asks with a breathy voice. The contact sends shivers through his body. At least he can blame that on the cold if he needed to.
“Warming your hands” He says simply. Kurt shivers more when Blaine brings both his hands and Kurt’s to his face and warms them with his breath.
Kurt notices that Blaine has a slight blush on his face and he is glad to know he isn’t the only one. No one says anything after that. It isn’t until Emma gets tired and comes and sits next to them when they decide it’s time to head back home.
They start to walk home and talk more about school. They both have tests next Friday surprisingly. “Would you like to come over and study at my house next week?” Kurt asks with a hopeful tone.
“That sounds great” He says with a small smile as they continue their way home
Comments
Blaine is awesome. I love how he is worried about Kurt being cold and that he takes it upon himself to make sure that he gets warm. This story is really good.
Your reviews are so sweet! Thank you so much! Blaine is my favorite to write, he just really loves Kurt and I try to make that show even in the little things. :)
