Waking the kids up for school had been harder and harder as they got older. Liza was now 11, Chris 8, Noel 6, and the newest member Arejay had just turned 4. Making sure all the kids were up Kurt made his way down stairs to help Arejay with his braces. They had turned the play room down stairs into Arejay's room since he couldn't use the stairs. Plus the kids really had no need for it anyways. They had outgrown most of the play toys anyways. Fitting on the braces Kurt smiled and kissed his son handing him his forearm crutches. He had wanted to use those today instead of his walker.
"let's go eat." Kurt smiled as he could smell Blaine making breakfast. As the family ate Kurt finished and made sure all the kids had their lunches and were ready to go. Arejay was not yet in school but it was Wednesday and Kurt's turn to help in Noel's class. Arejay loved to come and help. Finishing up Blaine cleaned up and kissed each one of his kids.
"papa has work but I will see you all after school." Blaine smiled grabbing his briefcase and kissing Kurt before heading out to his car.
"we better get going or we will be late." Kurt smiled and got up helping the kids grab their bags. Heading out to the car Kurt made sure everyone was in and helped Arejay buckle his carseat. As they drove to school the four chatted about what they would be doing that day at school. Arejay had enthused about how he couldn't wait to say hi to Chris' second grade teacher Mrs. Law. Every Wednesday Kurt would help lead the first few activities in Noel's class then after recess go and read in Chris' class. By then lunch would be around and Kurt would sit with Arejay and whichever sibling (and friends) Arejay had chosen he wanted to sit next to. Making it to the school Kurt parked in the staff parking lot hanging his pass on his mirror. Helping the kids out he made sure everyone had gotten out safe before locking it. Walking around he slipped his iPhone in one pocket and his wallet in the other.
"take a hand please!" Kurt gestured as he started the short walk to the side gate of the school. Chris and Noel had grabbed a hand while Liza walked next to Arejay keeping her eye on him. She was his buddy. Plenty of extra help. Reaching Chris' line Noel let go letting his brother join his classmates.
"have a good day buddy!" Kurt smiled giving his son a wave.
"b-bye tiss!" Arejay smiled. He had a light studder and couldn't quite say Chris yet. But we had been working on that with his speech therapist. Next up we dropped of Liza with her class and then went to wait with Noel and his class.
"no's buck-et." Arejay pointed.
"yes that's his bucket, and some day you will get a bucket just like that one." Kurt smiled. At the school the kids attended the kindergarteners got to carry around buckets instead of backpacks. It just made things easier. Hearing his father say he would get one made his eyes light up. Arejay had always wanted to be like his brother. He looked up to him. As the bell rang Noel's teacher came out and led them to the classroom with me and Arejay in tow. Making sure Arejay got over the door jam ok, he took his seat with Arejay in the back of the class. Today the teacher had a surprise for him. Grabbing the roll sheet she began to call out the names.
"Noel Anderson?" she smiled. Noel looked up from his desk and smiled.
"here!" he said putting his arm up. Checking his name off she called a few other students before reaching the end. Arejay thought she was done before she called out his name.
"Arejay Anderson?" she smiled. Arejay's face lit up as he threw his hand up.
"h-here!" he smiled his face shown his excitement. Putting his hand down he looked over at his father.
"s-she said name!" Arejay smiled his eyes on his father.
"yes she did say your name buddy, how cool is that." Kurt smiled wrapping an arm around his son. As the day dragged on another parent had showed up to help with the big craft project for the day.
"which ones yours?" the woman asked. Kurt smiled and pointed to Noel who had hair just like Kurt's and Blaine's eyes.
"that one." he smiled again, the parents had been sitting down cutting a few last things for the flowers they would make. Cutting around the dotted line Arejay had hobbled over and dropped his canes next to his father making a huge noise.
"up." the boy cried.
"not right now buddy daddy's busy." Kurt sighed finishing one more before starting another.
"legs owie." Arejay pouted hoping he could at least sit in his dads lap.
"ok fine." Kurt sighed helping his son onto his lap.
"they hurt a lot, don't they?" Kurt asked kissing his son on the head. Arejay nodded and looked up at his dad.
"show me what hurts." Kurt asked as Arejay pointed to the buckles on his braces.
"when daddy is done I'll take a look ok?" Kurt smiled as Arejay nodded.
"oh, I'm so sorry." Kurt chuckled slightly.
"forgot to introduce, this is my husband and I's youngest Arejay." Kurt smiled.
"why hello there." the woman smiled finishing her stack of cut outs. As the day continued on the craft had been started and Kurt was helping the kids with the glue and making sure they had things close enough to kinda looking like a flower. Running over Noel shoved his flower in his dads face.
"look daddy I made this for papa!" Noel smiled.
"papa's going to love it." Kurt smiled helping his son write his name on the back.
"go put it to dry in your cubby so we can give it to papa when we get home from school." Kurt smiled again as Noel rushed over to put it away before lunch.
"he sure loves his fathers doesn't he?" the mother smiled.
"he loves his whole family." Kurt smiled.
"all six of us." Kurt added.
"wow, you have quite a family." she smiled.
"just my husband and I and our four kids." he explained Arejay pulling on his father trying not to slip off his lap.
"careful." Kurt chuckled.
"it's almost lunch time anyways." he said.
"why don't we get your crutches and go get our lunches." Kurt smiled and helped Arejay up. They would go have lunch with Liza and then head to chris' class for reading.
"Arejay!" Mrs. Law smiled.
"hi!" the boy beamed.
"how's my favorite future student?" she asked.
"good." he smiled looking up at her.
"how's he really doing?" Mrs. Law asked looking at Kurt. They both knew that sometimes if something was wrong he would hide it.
"well, he's getting some pain in his legs and I don't think his braces are fitting anymore. We go back tomorrow to check on that." Kurt explained watching as his son made his way down to room number two. That was Mrs. Law's class.
"slow down buddy!" Kurt laughed. Arejay just turned and glanced at me before continuing on. Finishing up in Chris' class the day finished and Kurt came out to pick the kids up from school. Heading home from school snack was made and homework was started. Pulling up Blaine got out of his care and made his way inside. Noel was usually the first one to greet his dad after Arejay.
"look papa!" Noel smiled.
"I made you a flower at school!" he said shoving it in his dads face. Blaine smiled and took it from his son.
"love it!" he smiled.
"let's go put it on the fridge." he smiled again helping his super happy son put the flower on the fridge with lots of other artwork from the kids. Coming back Blaine took a seat next to Kurt. He had missed his husband.
"Arejay told me his legs hurt again, we gotta get that looked at." Kurt sighed.
"I'll book us an appointment to go see his doctor." Blaine sighed before calling.
"she'll see him tomorrow." he smiled.
"she wants to make sure he's ok." he said putting down his phone. Hearing the good news Kurt smiled and watched his kids interact. He loved them all so much.
