When Blaine was sent off to fight the war in Iraq he left his seven month pregnant wife Camilla at home. Being in the marines you can't just plead with your boss and have them let you stay home. Doesn't work that way.
"hey you, captain Anderson." park smiled.
"how's your wife?" he asked.
"she's great! Just skyped yesterday!" Blaine smiled closing his laptop laying back on the bed. Little did he know that would be their last.
--
"Hey, captain!" park shook me to wake me.
"you have an important call." he sighed as I eased up.
"um, hi?" he asked puzzled putting the phone to his ear.
"hi captain Anderson, I hate to give you bad news but..." the man paused letting Blaine sink in.
"your wife has been killed in a car accident." he informed Blaine. Blaine's face went dead hearing those words.
"this can't be true it just can't." he began to let tears fall.
"oh my gosh the baby! How's the baby!" he was trying to speak between sobs.
"your son is going to be ok, he's in the NICU right now. They are taking excellent care of him and he can't wait to meet you." the man smiled over the phone. Blaine let out a sigh of relief knowing his son was going to be ok.
--
"Anderson!" park called.
"your on the next flight out get your stuff packed." he smiled trying to perk up an upset Blaine. Blaine sighed and quickly threw his stuff in his bag. He'd get to see his son in less than 24 hours. Taking his bag he slowly walked out to the plane that would take him back to Lima the place that held his son.
--
"oh god Lisa!" Kurt cried out. He'd gotten a call that his wife was dead. She'd been killed along with 10 other people in a pileup on the I5. His daughter had to be born early and he'd be by her side 24/7. His life had changed forever. His daughter would grow up without a mom but he'd do everything to make her life worth while.
--
Sitting in the chair Kurt kept his eyes on his daughter. She had no name yet but he would figure out one soon. Most parents were given a day but given his situation they gave him a few days. There had been another baby in the room that Kurt watched too. A sweet little boy that he hoped had parents too.
Shifting Blaine got out of the towncar heading into the hospital. He had his bag and made his way to the NICU. Finding his way to the desk he tried to check in.
"Blaine Anderson." he sighed.
"my son is here." he tried to smile to keep himself from crying.
"Ahhh yes." the nurse smiled.
"he's been anxiously awaiting your arrival." she smiled and got up leading him to a place he could leave his bag and then to get a gown on.
"he's in this room right here." she smiled and gave him a wrist band.
"make sure you have that on you, it lets you in after hours and shows us that you are his father." she explained handing him some hand sanitizer so he could see his son.
"here he is!" she smiled leading him into the room. Kurt had been just over to see him before going to check on his daughter. The boy had been connected to a CPAP machine to help him breath and a feeding tube giving him food and a central line to give him some of his meds. Shifting the nurse explained everything to Blaine giving him as much info as he wanted right now. It was all a lot right now.
"I'll leave you two alone." she smiled and left.
"he's doing really well." Kurt smiled. Looking at Blaine who had his hand inside stroking the small babies arm. Blaine turned his head to see Kurt over by his daughter.
"I'm Kurt by the way." Kurt smiled sticking out his elbow. Blaine looked at him funny before giving him his elbow. It was something they did to keep germs from spreading.
"Blaine." he smiled looking at the taller man. There was something about him he liked.
"I've been here about two weeks, they told me he'd be joining us so I watched them both till you came." Kurt smiled.
"they told me you'd be coming and I did not want him to get lonely." Kurt chuckled slightly hoping to ease the air in the room.
"does he have a name?" Kurt asked watching Blaine.
"uhh... Not yet." he sighed.
"well I think he looks like a garret." Kurt smiled. Blaine looked at him and nodded nervously.
"I like it." he smiled still oohing and awing over his son.
"does she have a name?" Blaine asked looking over to check out Kurt's daughter.
"I was thinking of naming her after my wife Lisa, but it felt kinda weird." he sighed.
"I could see that." Blaine sighed.
"I heard about your wife." Kurt sighed.
"I'm so sorry for your loss." he said shifting to go sit down motioning to Blaine to join him.
"it's tough when you can't be there." a tear fell from Blaine's eye.
"what do you mean?" Kurt asked. Under the gown Blaine had his uniform on.
"I was in Iraq half way around the world when I got the news." he sighed.
"oh I'm so sorry." Kurt said feeling bad for Blaine.
"what was her name?" kurt asked.
"Camilla, after her great-grandmother." he sighed.
"that's it!" Kurt smiled.
"what?" Blaine asked watching Kurt.
"if you don't mind," he paused.
"I wanna name her Camilla, Camilla Elizabeth." he smiled waiting for your answer.
"oh my. I love it." Blaine smiled finally feeling a little bit happy.
--
It was a few hours later, nothing much had changed and Kurt said he would stay so Blaine could get some lunch. As he came back stuffed he noticed that they had put up a sign with Camilla's name on it. He couldn't be happier. Blaine still had no clue what he was going to name his son. He had settled on the name garret but needed a middle name.
"what about the name William?" Kurt replied. The two had been sipping coffee looking through baby name books while the babies got looked over.
"I like it." Blaine smiled.
"Garret William Anderson." the sound of that was wonderful.
"I think it's settled." he smiled. Both babies now had names. Garret and Camilla.
"I hate to be noisy but..." Blaine paused.
"Car accident on the I5." Kurt sighed.
"ohh so sorry." Blaine sighed. Meeting this man was changing him. Not sure in which way but it was changing him and he liked it. Blaine sifted as the nurse told them they could go back in. Tonight would be Garret's first time for some kangaroo care. Blaine and Kurt would get to do this together. Even though only meeting a few hours ago they had hit it off well. Kurt was happy he wasn't alone. Coming in a nurse showed them how to hold them correctly and helped them hold their kids.
"I can't believe we are doing this." Blaine smiled.
"me either." Kurt smiled at Blaine. Camilla let out a whimper feeling the warm skin. The four if them almost fell asleep. But Kurt made sure he kept Blaine awake. A few hours later they put the babies back before napping themselves. They needed it. Blaine had been awake for almost three days. He needed sleep.
