Author's Notes: All done! I really hated chapter six, so I'm thinking about redoing it, but I'm not sure how and I know it was a conversation that should probably stay... I just don't like it. In other news, two people asked for a chapter about Cooper's visit, so I'll post that next Sunday as a stand alone. I might make this into a series so it'll be easier to find? Or should I just add it as an extra chapter? Thoughts?

The Starbucks Adam was currently sitting in was crowded and noisy in a way that was almost comforting. He had a table in a back corner, not quite sure how he managed to get the table, People watching was always so much more enjoyable when no one was paying enough attention to catch you.

A woman in a very nice looking coat with a very excited preschooler was ordering something at the counter while he daughter tried very hard to simultaneously run off to play with another little girl on the other side of the room and repeatedly remind her mom that she promised that she'd buy her a hot chocolate and a snack.

The man in line behind them looked to be trying very hard to punch a hole in the screen of his phone as he typed furiously away at what had to be a very angry text. He'd occasionally look down and the bouncing child in front of him, glare, shake his head, and then return his attention to his phone.

Behind him was a group of teenagers who kept snickering at a different group of teenagers that were already seated. High school, he mused, really didn't ever change.

To his left was a table filled with middle aged women, all talking over each other as they tried to assure the others than, no really, my son is worse. Listening to them made him feel weirdly guilty in a way he didn't understand and made a mental note to call his mum later.

And to his right, a phone started to sing Teenage Dream.

"Hey!"

Of course. Even without turning to look, Adam could clearly picture the smile on Kurt's face.

"I'm sorry I ran out this morning, I was running late. I'm just now getting coffee. That is how late I was. Pity me."

This certainly brought back memories. It'd been a few years since he last saw Kurt. They'd made an awkward and stilted attempt at being friends after they broke up, but outside of Adam's Apples rehearsal they didn't really interact. When Adam had graduated, he really didn't expect to hear from his ex again.

So of course he'd end up once again listening in on his phone conversation.

"Oh, you guess you forgive me, huh?"

He wondered who Kurt was dating now. If he still lived with Rachel and Santana in their old flat, or if they'd either moved into a three bedroom or kicked Santana out. Or maybe one of them had finally snapped and murdered a roommate, and the two surviving had hid the body and swore to never speak of it again. Santana seemed more violent outwardly, so it probably wouldn't get much to get her to snap, though Rachel was slightly crazy and would probably bottle up her rage, ending in her smothering someone in their sleep—he was thinking about this too much.

When had he gotten so morbid?

"Then you should have considered that before you proposed, because planning this wedding is insane and I'm never doing it again. Ever."

It was a good thing he hadn't recently taken a drink of something, because Adam is fairly certain he would've spit it all over the table. Kurt was engaged?! How?! Why?! He was only... quick math... 21? Who the hell gets married at 21?!

(The real question is how did he manage to start dating someone and decide to marry them in the rather small window of time between their break up and now. But that sounds especially bitter.)

"Oh! That reminds me! We're having an intervention for Rachel. I'm sure she's trying to be helpful, but really she's just being obnoxious. She seems to think that she is a sudden guru on all things wedding, which makes no sense because the only weddings she's ever been to are my dad's which I planned, at sixteen, and Mr. Schue's, and we know how that turned out."

Married. Kurt was getting married. It wasn't like Adam was jealous, he and Kurt had never really been serious and their break up was years ago, but married?!

"No, you're not getting this. When she was going on about vegan friendly cakes, I was willing to indulge her on the off chance that she'd remember she was vegan at the time of the wedding. And I listened to her inform me that she was already planning which songs she was going to sing at both the ceremony and reception, without asking to sing or get my approval on song choices, without strangling her. But now she's decided to help me with our tuxes! Our tuxes! She wore sweaters with animals on them until she was eighteen!"

Well, it was nice to know that Rachel hadn't changed since he last saw her.

"She seems to forget that her fashion choices are horrible and the only reason she looks her age is because she got a stylist and that that stylist is me!"

Adam managed to stop himself from snickering. Getting caught listening into someone's conversation is awkward enough without the added bonus of their history.

"No, we're doing this, or I will change the date of the wedding without telling her and she'll show up on the wrong day."

That seems... drastic. Though Adam supposed that wedding planning was stressful and Kurt probably wasn't serious.

"Do not tempt me, Blaine."

Blaine?! Really?! He was—wow. He was actually going to marry his high school boyfriend. Just... wow. Why was he even surprised?

"Fine, you win. But hey! Don't forget to pick up Cooper from the airport later."

Cooper. Just the name brings back horrifying flashbacks that only war victims could possibly understand.

"Yes. You have to. Sam's flight gets in around the same time, so if you don't pick up your brother you're not getting your best friend."

Maybe he was jealous. Not necessarily because Kurt had moved on, because he had too, but that his last relationship had failed pretty spectacularly whereas Kurt was getting married.

"Blaine, that's very sweet, but it's okay. You're allowed to have a new best friend. I'm not jealous, I promise. By all means, go be a dork with Sam, I don't mind, because I got the ring."

Could he lean over and look at it, or would Kurt notice him? Probably best not to risk it.

"Yes, but sometimes the ring deserves my love more than you. Like when you tell me you don't forgive me for leaving in the morning without saying goodbye, even though I was horrendously late."

And really? Who the hell ends up with their first boyfriend? And how long had he and Kurt been broke up before he got back together with Blaine?

"Okay, go. Have fun, but do not forget your brother."

Maybe he should say hi? Express his congratulations?

"I love you too, and I'll see you at home."

Before he could work up the courage, Kurt was already out of his seat, tossing his empty cup in the trash and heading out onto the street.

From the glimpse he got, Adam had to admit that the ring was pretty impressive.
