Elizabeth Anderson- Hummel was known for a lot of things. She was intelligent, graduating with honors at Berkeley University with a masters degree at the age of 22. She also had the voice of an angel, taking after her papa, Kurt Hummel, the Tony winning Broadway star. Growing up, any time she let that secret out, the first thing people would say would be, "THE Kurt Hummel?" Yes, she would say, and would try to change the subject immediately. Her papa, who was her biological father, was not a known presence in her life for several years. When she was young, he was always busy. When he wasn't busy, he would argue with her dad, who she was very defensive of.

When her parents divorced, she was nine years old, and when her and her dad moved to a different state, she would only see her papa every six months. As she grew older, she became more resentful towards him. It was only two years ago when she made an impromptu visit to New York that she and Kurt finally came to an understanding and slowly built a stronger relationship. She loved her dad more than anyone on the planet, but she had a biological connection with her papa that fascinated her. They had the same temper and sharp wit, were both often misunderstood, and their eyes were exact replicas.

Elizabeth's relationship with her dad had been extremely close since birth. She latched onto him and refused to let him go from the moment she was held in his arms. Her separation anxiety was so severe, she had to have children's therapy. She remembered spending hours with him in the park, swinging and sliding until the sun broke. Often times, Elizabeth was the one who had to tell her dad it was getting late and that they should go home. They would have adventures, camp out in the backyard, and she remembered him always sneaking her cookies before dinner, and to keep their little secret, using their own handshake and everything.

When people started teasing her about not having a mother, he not only made her feel better; he made her feel proud to have two fathers, so much that she felt sorry for the other boys and girls who didn't have that luxury. He helped her with her homework every day after school, making it something she looked forward to. She enjoyed homework because her dad made it fun. Every Saturday, they would build a fort in the living room with pillows and sheets, watching every Disney movie under the sun. Her dad was perfect. He was her hero, simply put. She loved her papa just as much, but he was always promising play dates only to reschedule them because his work was important. He said he did it for her, and that one day she would understand, but she still missed him.

Her dad was never quite the same after his divorce. They would still do the same things, but his energy didn't last long. He would still smile, but it would never quite reach his eyes. He would snap at her a lot more, followed by a full day of apologies. The worst would be at night. She got into the habit of sleeping in his bed, and when he thought she was asleep, he would cry for her papa. As time went on, things didn't necessarily get better, per se. They moved to Philadelphia, creating their "new normal". Just the two of them, "Batman and Robin", she would tell him, even though he insisted they were Lucy and Ethel.

Elizabeth Anderson-Hummel was known for a lot of things. When she wanted something, she wouldn't stop until she got it. She was a master manipulator, which was fitting, considering she was currently interning at a civil rights law firm. After resurrecting her relationship with her papa two years ago, and speaking with him on the phone on a regular basis, she knew that he still had unspoken feelings he had for her dad. Just like her, he would rather wear crocs than admit this, but she knew. She also had no doubt in her mind that her dad never fell out of love with Kurt, and although that sounded romantic, it was extremely tragic.

Andrew Jennings, the love of her life, proposed to her seven months ago, and after her complete and utter shock and bliss over the fact that the man of her dreams proposed to her, she came up with an idea. Ignoring the protests of her soon-to-be husband, she took this idea and formulated a plan. She picked up her cell phone, poured herself a glass of red wine, and dialed the number. After the third ring, it picked up.

"Hello, Papa? So, what you think about being my wedding planner?"

She pulled the phone away from her ear as Kurt screeched and hollered incoherently for several minutes, followed by idea after idea, detail after detail, promise after promise that this wedding would be perfect. She smiled wickedly throughout the entire conversation. Yes, she thought, it will be perfect.

Blaine was already settled at the table of his favorite coffee shop, Sweet Awakenings, reading through his student's essays, and sipping his coffee. When he began to feel signs of a headache, he removed his glasses and massaged the bridge of his nose. He glanced at the clock again, recognizing that Elizabeth should be there at any moment. He was more grateful than she'd ever realize that she decided to move back to Philadelphia when she graduated from Berkeley, because, simply put, he was downright lonely.

Since she moved back, they made it a ritual to meet up at their spot every Sunday morning. He couldn't believe how quickly his baby girl grew up, soon to be married to a man he would be proud to call his son-in-law. It was actually Blaine who was the reason Andrew to Elizabeth met in the first place. Andrew worked as a teacher's aide while making his way through college. Lizzy was still at Berkeley when he and Blaine, and he became, really, Andrew's first positive male role model. Andrew hadn't had the easiest life growing up, but he was strong, compassionate, and was nothing like his father. When Blaine told him his life story growing up, they bonded pretty quickly from the similarities they shared.

Lizzy and Andrew met the day she came home from college. Blaine was stuck at a teachers conference, quite literally, actually. Someone had locked the conference room door by accident and it took a good four hours until they were finally free. In the meantime, he needed somebody to pick up his daughter from the airport, and Andrew was happy to do so. Blaine was lost in his thoughts when he heard the tinkering of the entrance door. There, standing, was the only person on this planet that gave his life meaning and importance: his little girl.

"Lizard," he called out to her, with a big dopey smile on his face. She turned to him and rolled her eyes, trying and failing to hold back her grin- just like her father, he thought to himself.

"Dad, you have to stop with that nickname. Now Andy uses it and it reminds me of you and it is so disturbing, like you don't even know," she laughed.

"You love it," he said as he pulled her into a bear hug.

"From you, yeah, but I can live without it in the bedroom --" Blaine gasped and cackled at the same time, causing him to choke on his spit. Elizabeth laughed at his expense until he was able to breathe again.

"First of all, choking is not a laughing matter. I could've died while you stood there entertained. And more importantly, there came a point in our lives around the time you were 15 where we laid down the TMI clause. It has your signature and mine. I am still in denial that my little girl is getting married, let alone doing... that."

"Come on, old man, stop being dramatic. Your gay is showing," she nudged him lightly as she took a seat at their usual table, "And it isn't my fault that I'm growing up. Blame nature. But I refuse to get a single wrinkle until I'm at least sixty."

Blaine shook his head, chuckling over how much she sounded like Kurt, "I'm not old. Forty-eight is a respectable age and the grays I've been rocking shows that I am mature and experienced. And news flash, darling. I am gay," he smiled, pleased with himself. Just as he expected, his daughter shot him a comeback.

"You're in denial. Admitting that you're an old fart is the first sign of moving forward," she said endearingly.

"Nonfat mocha for you, young lady," he smiled as he passed her the coffee, "just as you like it." With a grateful smile, Elizabeth started talking about her lousy week. Blaine just smiled at her adoringly and listened to every word she said, like every detail mattered. It was unbelievable how she and his ex-husband were alike. Sometimes it was hard to look in her eyes, which were an everyday reminder of the person who changed his life for better and for worse. Besides the polite, "Hello, how are you", conversations he has had with Kurt over the years, it had been at least ten years since they actually talked.

"So there's something important I wanted to talk about," she said after a few moments of silence.

"I'm all ears," Blaine popped a piece of biscotti in his mouth and smiled at her.

"I spoke to Papa on Thursday," and suddenly, Blaine wanted to change the subject, but allowed her to continue, "and we agreed that he..." she cleared her throat.

"That he?" He asked curiously, wondering what suddenly got his daughter so nervous.

She sighed loudly and continued, "We both agreed that he should be my wedding planner." There was a thick silence looming over the table that separated the two. Blaine had a million questions and scenarios racing through his head, and he felt a little lightheaded.

He took a deep breath, "Is that right?" The question was followed by more silence. He peeked up at Elizabeth and her eyes were downcast at her hands.

"Yep, "she made a loud "p" sound, trying her best to stay casual.

"And when is he coming to town?" He mentally braced himself for this answer. He heard her mumble something unintelligible, and asked that she'd speak up.

"He's coming this Wednesday," she said so quickly, he was sure he misunderstood her. More silence lingered in the air for at least a minute before he finally spoke up.

"Did you just say," he closed his eyes and tried to steady his breathing. The emotions that were happening were nothing he ever felt. Fear, nerves, excitement, dread, happiness, hope... hope for what? He took another steadying breath, "did you just say this Wednesday? Elizabeth, please tell me you're joking." He looked at her, and she was completely knocked off guard. He knew why, it was because he only used her real name when he was dead serious. She looked down at her hands again and shook her head shamefully. It reminded him of when she was a child, anticipating a timeout.

"I'm going to... go... somewhere," he scrambled to pick up his things, "I just need some air, some oxygen, may be a nurse," he stammered. He took another deep breath and looked her in the eye, and smiled at her, which probably looked like he had gas pains. Oh god, the memories are coming, he thought to himself.

"Lizard," she looked up at him with glassy and hopeful eyes, "I want you to know I'm not mad at you. It's just --"

"-- a lot to take in. I understand, Dad. I'm just, I'm so sorry. I don't want you to stress out. I can call it off if you want me to." He could see she was starting to panic.

"No, honey, no, it's nothing like that. He is your father and it's great that you two are going to bond over this. I always wanted you to have her relationship with him. I'm excited for you, I promise," he said, and she relaxed back into her seat, "I'll call you tomorrow, okay? Everything will be fine."

Everything will not be fine, he thought, as he left the coffee shop.

Just started reading this fic and love the first chapter! So many quetions though...how many other people have Blaine and Kurt slept with or had relationships with in the past 10 years, how is Kurt feeling about Blaine..lots more so I will stop rambling and carry on reading :-)

You made that point brilliantly. I think that you made the point to the reader that they only complete each other but I would not say that it was obvious to the boys. IYou showed that they had feelings but maybe they were still in denial, I just hope that they act on it, it will be interesting to see how they react when they finally realise this.
