Thats chapter 3. Still in the process of finishing this fanfiction. Chapter 4 to be posted soon.
Blaine and Mr. Schue carried Kurts limp body into Burts car. Before the two carried Kurt out of the park, they let the others know that they had found him. Rachel broke down in tears and was consoled by Finn. Burt was in shock when he saw his son unconscious. He put himself together and drove as fast as possible towards Lima General Hospital with Finn, Rachel, Blaine, and an unconscious Kurt in tow. Blaine put Kurt on his lap for the entire ride and he held onto his hand, as did Rachel.
Once they arrived at the hospital, Blaine and Finn carried Kurt out of the car and into the ER immediately. The nurses and doctors in the ER trauma room tried desperately to save him. Kurt was losing so much blood.
In the emergency waiting room, everyone was hoping and praying for Kurt to be okay. Blaine and Rachel were still teary eyed. Just then an ER doctor came out.
"Hi, Im Dr. Greene. Whos Kurts legal guardian?" the doctor asked. Burt replied, "I am. Hows my son? Is he going to be okay?" Dr. Greene answered to Burt, "Your son is in stable condition. We just wheeled him into emergency surgery and his spleen and liver are damaged. Dr. Carter, the surgeon, would have to take out his spleen right away and for his liver, he might need to undergo a transplant. Also, he needs a blood transfusion as a result of his blood loss."
Blaine hearing this, stood up and told Dr. Greene, "I want to donate part of my liver and give him blood. Before Kurt passed out in my arms, he wanted me to save him. I know Kurts blood type is A positive and mines is O negative." Dr. Greene says to Blaine, "Alright, but before we can make you a potential donor, we have to make sure youre healthy and well have to do some tests. Then, we can do the blood transfusion right away. Are you sure you want do this?" Blaine replied, "Yes please doctor. Ill do anything to save Kurt!"
"Okay then. Ill get one of the nurses to take you to a room to do the testing and transfusion. One more thing, is there a family member of yours that can sign some paperwork? Youre not yet 18?" asked Dr. Greene. Blaine replied, "My moms out of town...so..." Burt cuts in and says, "Ill sign it then, but well have to get verbal consent from your mom." Blaine then thanked Mr. Hummel for agreeing to sign the paperwork in place of his mother.
It was getting late and visiting hours at the hospital were coming to an end for the day. Wes tells Blaine of the upcoming donor testing and blood transfusion, "Be brave. Youll do just fine. Ill let your teachers know that you will be away from school for the next few days. Now, go save your man." Blaine thanked him. Mercedes says, "Well be thinking and praying for both of you. Im hoping for Kurt to recover soon." Mr. Schue said, "Well see you guys tomorrow. Be strong Blaine. Finn, Mr. Hummel, keep us posted on Kurts condition." "Alright," says Burt and Finn at the same time.
Everyone embraced Blaine and Mr. Hummel in a hug as they left the hospital for the evening. Rachel decided to stay in the hospital, with permission from Burt.
Just then Carole came into the waiting room and she was on nurse duty. Carole asked, "Hey guys, what are you guys doing here?" Burt replied to her, "Its a long story honey. Kurt was stabbed in a park, nearly 2 hours ago. Hes still in surgery and Dr. Carter is trying his best to save him." Carole says to him, "I hope hes alright." Then she asks, "Do you know who did this to him?" Burt says to her, "No honey, were not sure who did this."
"Anyways, Dr. Greene paged me here to get Blaine for his donor testing and blood transfusion. Are you ready Blaine?" asked Carole. Blaine took a deep breath before replying to Carole, "Yep, lets do this."
Blaine followed Carole to a room to do some donor testing from the bloodwork to having a CT Scan and X-Ray done. After the testing was done, it was time for the blood transfusion. Carole took him to the blood donor room. She told Blaine to lie down on one of the beds and says shell do the transfusion shortly.
Blaine has a fear of needles, but he has had gone though this before since he was beaten up after attending his Sadie Hawkins dance at his old school before transferring to Dalton Academy.
Before the transfusion began, Carole told Blaine to pull his left sleeve up and then took out a small red ball from her pocket and put it on to his left hand. She says to him, "Blaine, please hold and squeeze the red ball while Im looking for an available vein in your arm to insert an IV." Blaine squeezed the red rubber ball as hard as he could while Carole wrapped a rubber tourniquet on his arm.
Once she found an available vein, she cleaned it before inserting the IV. She told him to take a deep breath as she is going to insert the IV needle. Blaine, feeling all nervous, tells Carole, "Wait! I need a moment!" She pauses and asked him, "Are you afraid of needles?" Blaine replied and started to tear up, "Pretty much. I want to save Kurt badly. I really miss him." "Blaine, youre doing well so far. You were really brave to tell Dr. Greene that you wanted to be a donor to save my son. I know you can do this, just think of happy thoughts. Kurt would be so proud of you for doing this." says Carole.
"You really think so?" Blaine asked her. She responds to him in a positive way, "Absolutely. Im sure hell pull through. Lets do this for Kurt, alright. Just take a deep breath and relax. Its okay to sleep here and Ill put a blanket on you to keep warm." Blaine agreed to what Carole said. "Okay, for Kurt. Im ready now," he says.
He took some deep breaths as Carole inserted an IV needle into one of his veins in his left arm. Blaine started to feel weak as his blood is being collected into a blood bag, which is to be transferred to Kurt, whos still in surgery. Blaine thought to himself of Kurt, "Please be okay Kurt, please dont leave me" before he slowly drifted off to sleep.
As Blaine was continuing to sleep, the blood transfusion was done and Carole took the blood bag over to one of the OR nurses that was looking after Kurt. Carole then gave some medication inserted into Blaines IV to make him comfortable, while he recovers from the transfusion.
Finn and Rachel dropped by the blood donor room to see how Blaines blood transfusion went.
"Hi mom, how did it go?" asked Finn. Carole replied to him, "Blaine did so well. Hes sleeping and resting right now. Ill be back in a few minutes. I been paged to go to the waiting room with your father. Please keep an eye on Blaine for me you guys." Finn and Rachel kept watch over Blaine.
Few hours later, an OR doctor came into the waiting room. It was Dr. Carter. He asks, "Are you Kurts parents?" Burt replied, "Yes, Im his father Burt and this is my wife Carole, whos on nurse duty. Hows our son?"
Dr. Carter replied, "Kurts out of surgery and is headed to the ICU, still in stable condition and hes currently in a coma. The good part is that the blood transfusion went well and his BP is starting to improve. The bad part is we had to remove his spleen and his liver is losing function. Hes going to need a liver transplant soon. A moment ago, he nearly flatlined and we managed to revive him for 10 minutes. I been told by Dr. Greene that a potential donor is available. Where is that donor?" Carole answered to Dr. Carter, "Hes sleeping in the blood donor room and is doing fine. My other son and his girlfriend are keeping watch." Dr. Carter says to Carole and Burt, "Thats good to hear. Once we get the donor test results in the next few days or so, well be able to move forward with the transplant. Anyways, in about 20-30 mins or so, you can visit your son in the ICU." Burt thanked Dr. Carter for trying his best to save Kurt and shook his hand.
