Kurt loved going to the park with his parents. Even when it was so cold outside that he had to wear long underwear and ski pants. He loved it because they always made a day of it, and even though he had nobody to play with him in the sandbox, he had his dad to push him on the swings and his mother to help him make his way across the monkey bars. They even joined him on the springy horses, and laughed at his dad when he had to stand because his bum didn’t fit in the seat.

Blaine usually didn’t have people to play with. Even Cooper refused after a couple minutes of playing. It was alright, though. He had a huge imagination, and could usually get lost in it for hours, simply trying not to touch the ‘lava’. Then he met Kurt. It was a Saturday, and the boy was with his mom and dad. Cooper was sitting on a bench that was sort of hidden by a tree, playing something on his phone. Blaine went over to where the boy and his dad were playing on the swings, the man had just under ducked him. Blaine took a seat on the swing beside him and pushed off the ground, pumping his legs like Coop had taught him to.
“Hey, do you want a push?” he heard from beside him. He looked up and say that the boy was talking to him. When he didn’t answer, the boy introduced himself.
“Your mom must tell you not to talk to strangers. I’m Kurt.”
“I’m Blaine. And you’re right, she does tell me that.”
“So, do you want a push?” Kurt asked again.
“Um, sure?”
“Daddy, go push Blaine! I’m high enough!” The older man chuckled and moved behind Blaine, grabbing the chains of his swing.
“Thank you, Kurt’s Dad!”
“Call me Burt, kiddo.”
Burt pushed Blaine for a while before going back to his wife on the bench behind them. They swung for a while, shrieking and giggling before Cooper came over and announced that it was time to go home.
“But Coop, I don’t wanna go home! I wanna stay here with Kurt!” The boys had both gotten off of the swings.
“It’s okay, Blaine! We come here every Saturday! I’m sure I’ll see you again!”
“…Okay. I’ll see you next Saturday, then! Bye!” Kurt pressed a kiss to his new friend’s cheek before he left.

Blaine went to the park the following Saturday, and the Saturday after that, but Kurt was never there. He never saw Kurt again until they met on the staircase at Dalton.
They were on one of their dates when Blaine finally figured out why Kurt never came back to the park.
“We’ve met before.” Kurt blurted out, looking around the park from where he was seated on Blaine’s lap on a swing.
“Yeah, I remember. You never did come back that Saturday.”
“My mom died that Wednesday.”
“I’m sorry.” Blaine tightened his arms around Kurt.
“It’s okay.” Kurt stood and turned around, and the slipped his legs in the spaces between Blaine’s sides and the chains of the swing so that they were sitting butterfly style.
“You know, I didn’t stop dreaming about you for weeks.”
“Me neither.” They swung slowly and carefully until it was time to leave. Kurt pressed a kiss to his boyfriend’s cheek before they left together.
