Week 7

“Mr. Blaine! Can I pretty please have some more goldfish?” Livy asked with hands clasped under her chin. Blaine smiled, “Sure, Livy. How about you sit down in your chair and I'll pour you some more.” She quickly fled back to her chair and let her feet dangle as she waited for Blaine to pour more of the snack. She quickly said thank-you before popping it into her mouth.

Blaine headed back to the cupboards when he heard a voice behind him. “Mr. Blaine, my mommy is going to have a little girl!” Jay was saying excitedly. Blaine turned to him to discuss his new favorite subject. Babies.

“Really? That's exciting. What are they going to name her?” Jay shrugged, “My mommy like Penelope but my daddy said he like Clara better. I like Flower.” Blaine smiled and moved to the front of the class to include everyone in on Jay's exciting news. “Those are very nice names. I'm sure you'll be a great big brother.” Jay grinned as he grabbed another goldfish.

“Do you have a brother or sister, Mr. Blaine?” Isobel chirped from her spot next to Livy. Blaine nodded, “Yep. I have an older brother named, Cooper.” “Does he have any babies? Do you have any babies?” Hayley asked with an excitement that could be felt around the room. Babies seemed to be her favorite topic since her aunt had twin boys a month ago.

“Cooper has two boys and a girl. Ryan is the oldest, then Marcus, and then little Lilly. And I'm gonna be a dad soon, also,” Blaine said as a grin spread at the mention of his impending fatherhood. There was a round of gasps before Jay spoke up, “Really!? Is it a boy or girl? Please say boy!” Blaine chuckled as a few of the girls glared at him.

“We don't know yet. Whatever it is I'll be happy.” And like that the conversation was over. Demetri tugged on Olivia's ponytail, Anna dropped her goldfish, and Isobel felt the need to sing the “ABC's” at the top of her lungs. Just a normal day in the kindergarten class.

Blaine was by himself in the empty classroom as he set to work taking down old pieces of artwork and putting up new ones. He hummed the “ABC's” as he worked out organizing the room when the door opened, and the second grade teacher walked in. “Oh, hi Mrs. Martin. Do you need something?” Blaine asked politely.

“Blaine, you can call me Jen, you know?” She said with a smile. Blaine shook his head, embarrassed, “Sorry, force of habit. What do you need?” She sat down on the edge of the desk and smiled knowingly. “It's been quite a few weeks since I got an update on the baby making process. How's it going?” Blaine bit his lip before breaking into a smile.

“Kurt's pregnant.”

“Wh- Kurt? Last I checked that wasn't the plan,” She said confused. Blaine shrugged, “Sometimes the plan changes. Apparently he's a carrier.” Jen squealed and jumped up to hug Blaine tightly. “This is so exciting! How'd the family react? Kayley is due in like four months, right?” “Uh, yes she is and we haven't told anyone yet except you. I also think Sam might suspect, but he hasn't said anything.”

Kayley nodded, “Well that's good. I didn't tell anyone I was pregnant until I was about five months. How is Kurt? Morning sickness?” Blaine sighed heavily. That morning sickness was really kicking Kurt's ass. “Yeah. He's doing everything he can to alleviate it, at least somewhat. He's tired and cranky sometimes now that his jeans don't fit as well. He doesn't want to eat and it's extremely aggravating.”

Jen smiled sympathetically as she patted Blaine's knee. “Make sure he eats. It's important he keeps his weight up. Is he working still? I know some men take time off because their pregnancies can be pretty difficult on their body.” “He wants to work so that's what he's doing. I told him he should take it easy now so it's not such a hard transition later when he'll inevitably be on bed rest but he says he doesn't want to.”

Jen nodded, “Well keep him happy. Happy as you can, I mean. At some point you may find no matter what you do will anger him. It's not like he can help it. Also, make sure hes being smart though. Sometimes we start to miss the independence and end up getting in a little over our heads” Blaine bobbed his head up and down, “Duly noted. We're supposed to go maternity clothes shopping later this week. He said he feels like a cow but I will assure you, he looks almost the same.” “Except the glow?” Jen teased. Blaine rolled his eyes, “Except the glow.”
