Author's Notes: You almost feel bad for Sebastian here...
Kurt wasn’t at Dalton the next day. Or the next. Or at all for the rest of the week. And then weekend came and Blaine was caught up with Warbler practice with Sebastian and the rest of the group. They had a few more days to perfect their numbers for Sectionals. The council had agreed that Blaine and Sebastian should do The Beatles’ ‘Let it Be’ as a duet for the first number. Their second song was an a-cappella version of ‘Come Together’ by the Beatles. Blaine tried to fight doing a Beatles song because it seemed too clich, but Wes and David convinced him that it would ensure them an advantage.

“You know the New Directions are going to do some pop song mash up like they always do. I think arranging a classic song will be a pleasant surprise to the judges, seeing as we usually stick to Billboard hits,” Wes had told him.

Blaine wasn’t too nervous since he’d already been through this process a few times, being a Junior, but Sebastian was a little more apprehensive. Though, he would never admit it. He would only hint his worries to Blaine when they were alone, or whisper them during Warbler practice.

“Do you think this choreography is... well... good?” Sebastian said during practice the Wednesday before Sectionals.

“Yeah, Baby. Thad always does a great job with the choreography. Why?”

Sebastian nodded to himself, running through the moves with the rest of the group. Blaine saw the look of uncertainty on his face and reached over to grab his hand.

“What’s wrong?” He said quietly, making sure no one else heard them.

“GUYS. Come on, Sectionals are on Friday.” Thad yelled from the front of the room.

“Nothing. I’m fine. I just want to win, you know.”

“I know. Me too. We all do.” Blaine saw the fake smile Seb gave him and knew there was something else bothering him. “But it’s okay if we don’t...”

“I know that, Blaine.” His voice was cold. Sebastian hated when Blaine talked to him like he was younger, even though he was a Sophomore.

“BLAINE. SEBASTIAN. Please focus.”

They continued dancing silently for the rest of practice. Afterwards they usually went to The Lima Bean together but Sebastian said he would rather go home and practice his singing. It was so strange for Sebastian to act this way and Blaine didn’t know how to talk to him without have him freak out. They were sitting on a bench outside waiting for Sebastian’s mom to pick him up when Blaine decided to try to get him to open up.

“I could have driven you home.”

“It’s okay. I didn’t want to make you drive to my house just to drop me off.”

“I do that...all the time. Seb what is wrong, Baby, talk to me.”

Sebastian snapped all of a sudden, as Blaine expected he would. “My dad said if we don’t win at Sectionals that I have to quit this ‘little fag choir’. So. Yeah.”

Blaine felt awful, he knew exactly how it felt to have an unsupportive father. Sebastian hardly ever talked about his family so Blaine didn’t know how bad it was for him, but he had an idea. He put his arm around Sebastian and kissed him on the cheek. Sometimes words weren’t enough to comfort Sebastian, besides he didn’t even know what to say at that moment.

“But whatever. I mean... let’s just fucking win then. Right?”

“Right.” He could feel Sebastian’s walls going back up already. He loved Sebastian most in the moments when he was vulnerable.

“Look who it is.” Blaine’s eyes followed Sebastian’s glare to the car that had just pulled up in front of the school. A leg clad in tight leather skinny jeans with knee- high boots was emerging from the passenger’s side. Before Blaine saw the face he knew who it was.

Kurt was walking towards them with an older man wearing a plaid shirt and baseball cap. His father, Blaine assumed.

“We meet again.” Kurt said when they were close enough to hear him. “Hello, Blaine. Sebastian.”

Instead of a rude comment Sebastian just nodded at Kurt.

“You know these boys, Kurt?” The man in the baseball cap said.

“Kind of. We’ve met in passing a few times. They go here.”

“Oh that’s good. For you, I mean.”

Blaine was now extremely confused at why Kurt kept coming to Dalton. “So why do keep coming here?” He instantly regretted saying that.

“You’ve seen him here before?” Sebastian immediately stiffened up, becoming his regular jealous self again.

“Uh...yeah...I- I saw him once. Here.” He figured they’d argue about it later, at least after Kurt and his father had left. But Sebastian blew up right there in front of everyone.

“Oh. Really fucking great, Blaine. Awesome. I’m sure next you’ll tell me you’ve been having little fuckin’ dates together every night-”

“Actually...” Kurt joked. Blaine glared at him.

“Kurt, maybe we should go inside.” Baseball cap man said.

“Yeah Dad. Well, it was good to see you both again.”

“Wait.” Sebastian said. “Why ARE you here?”

“I’m...well I might be... transferring here.”

Kurt didn’t elaborate, instead he pulled his dad inside quickly and walked straight into the school’s office. Blaine and Sebastian looked at each other, each equally shocked.

“What the fuck,” Sebastian said after a moment of silence.

“I know, what a coincidence,” Blaine was hoping that Sebastian had forgotten the little comment about him seeing Kurt at Dalton before.

“No. I can’t believe you are lying to me about seeing him. Why are you hiding that shit from me? I swear if he goes here-” Just then Sebastian's Mom drove up to the front of the school. She was dressed in nice business clothes with her hair pulled tightly back and she was on the phone.

“SEBASTIAN. HURRY UP.”

“Can I call you tonight? We can talk about this.” Blaine said, trying to sound sincerely sorry.

Sebastian just looked at him and sneered, “Why don’t you call your other boyfriend.”

Like you, I almost feel bad about Sebastian, but not quite. He's got some growing up to do.

Thank you so much! This means a LOT to me!! I am so glad you like it and think that the length is reasonable. :]

Just wanted to pop in and say how wonderful this story is! But man, the way Sebastian annoys me. I love the way you are writing it, from the simply PERFECT characterizations to the length of each other. Kurt is SPOT ON. The length of each chapter is pretty good too, I kinda like the short bursts that really do resemble encounters. The chapter names are awesome, too. So, all in all, this story is marvelous. Can't wait for more - added this story to my tracked story list! 10/10!

another great chapter
