Blaine got settled in as best he could, trying to keep from getting too distracted by thoughts of the beautiful superior, attempting to make friends with a couple of the guys, managing to meet a couple of fellow gamers and football fans, and finally after dinner he decided to take a walk to just clear his head and calm his mind a bit, telling himself it wasnt because he wanted to run into Kurt again
Kurt finished his paperwork after days of filing non stop. He hoped Blaine was settling in alright, but a part of him wanted Blaine to have a slightly bad time, or feel home sick, just so maybe Blaine would come to find him. He took a shower and put on a pair of old track pants. Wanting to check on his squadron, he walked out of his quarters, his arms muscular and abs a perfect shape.
Blaine gave him a small shy grin in return. "Youll be an awesome leader." He said softly. "Thats very kind of you. And yeah. I guess Im still not used to being away from home and nervous." He said quietly, trying to keep his eyes from staying too long on Kurt, knowing how the military felt about gays.
Kurt nodded knowingly. "Yeah. Its hard, especially when youre deployed. If you have family and friends, make sure you dont waste a moment with them." He smiled reassuringly wanting those beautiful brown eyes to look back at him.
Blaine looked up at him. "Ill definitely remember that." He said softly. "What about you? Anyone special back home?" He asked with sparkling eyes, trying to tease him, but also find out a bit more about him.
Kurts look saddened slightly. "Not really. I mean, I have my parents and stepbrother but no one else. Its hard to find a boyfriend when youre in the army." Kurt tested. He knew Blaine was a sweet guy and just hoped that he wouldnt be homophobic, and if he was then he wouldnt look Blaine in those stunning eyes again.
Blaine saw the way Kurts eyes saddened, and he swallowed back the need to wrap him up into his arms, before his eyes widened when he confessed to wanting a boyfriend. "Well what happened to dont ask dont tell?" He teased, his eyes warm. "But..." He said softly, before taking Kurts hand and giving it a squeeze. "I am too so if you ever need someone to talk to you can count on me sir." He winked
Kurt chuckled slightly. "Thats my job." Seeing Blaines gentle reaction made him yearn for more than just a touch of their hands. "The guys here wont give you any shit for it. Weve already had one guy get some homophobic slurs and it ended in my boot landing in some guys face. So if anyone gives you shit come talk to me."
Blaine laughed at the mental image. "Noted." He said with a true smile, flushing when he realized he was still holding Kurts hand. "So about that karaoke. Maybe we could do A duet sometime. Show the other boys how its done hmm?" He asked, feeling more open and relaxed now they had gotten that out in the open
"I think theyd all appreciate that." He chuckled. Using his other hand he ran his fingers through his hair again. He now knew Blaine was gay. He wasnt coming on to Blaine. He really wasnt.... Okay maybe just a little...
Blaine unconsciously let his thumb brush over the back of his hand softly. "Want to walk with me? I know its almost curfew." He asked shyly, looking at Kurt with hopeful eyes. He was so enchanted by Kurt and he couldnt get enough of the man. "You can tell me about your family and Ill tell you about mine." He offered
Blaines shy offer was enough to make him realise what he was doing. "That wont be necessary." He pulled his hand back, wanting more than anything to take Blaine back to his office and have him. "You should be getting sleep. Big day tomorrow. Youll need rest. See you tomorrow private. "
Blaine felt his heart break a bit at the obvious rejection, trying to school his features so Kurt wouldnt see. "Of course my apologies." He said a bit stiffly. "Nice seeing you again Sargent." He said before turning to walk off, trying to ignore the burning behind his eyes. He hated how much Kurt already affected him when they barely knew each other
With a deep breath, Kurt headed to his quarters, silently hating himself for not spending more time with Blaine. completely aware that his hard, harsh words had effected Blaine, he wished he could turn back. Kurt lay in bed trying to get the thought of Blaine and his blush lips, and his small frame, and his honey eyes out of his mind. "He doesnt want me.." He whispered to himself. "Hes just being kind..."
Blaine quietly entered his quarters, wrapping himself up in a ball, silently letting his tears fall, feeling scared and alone, and rejected by the one person who had made him feel welcomed, though he knew he had always worn his heart on his sleeve, something had told him Kurt was different, but he wasnt interested, so he just laid there, restlessly trying to get to sleep
