It took them three and a half hours to get to Westerville. 'Sorry,' Burt apologies, 'Traffic was hell.' Devon smiles, 'It's okay. Blaine! Hello my son!' he says and hugs Blaine. It feels akward, but it's real for Devon. 'Blaine, my boy,' he hears and Celia sees him too. 'Come inside, come inside.'
The Anderson house was huge. All that rich stuff and a guesthouse. Blaine looks outside and sees a beautiful garden. And a dog. 'Oh that's Kurt's dog, Ollie,' Celia says. 'Would you like to sit down?' Devon asks Blaine. Blaine nods and follows Devin to a really big living room, with a plasma tv and a lot of posh stuff Blaine doesn't care about.
'Kurt, are you coming?' No answer. 'Wait a second,' Celia says and she leaves the room. 'You guys want something?' Devon asks. Blaine shakes his head and Kurt walks in. 'Yeah, yeah, yeah mom, I will,' he says annoyed. Blaine feels overwhelmed. Kurt looks absolutely stunning with that black blazer, white blouse and jeans. His shoes are a little bit weird, but Blaine can live with it. And his hair. How does he do that?
~~~
Kurt takes a seat, far away from his not-parents. 'Smile,' Celia mouths and Kurt fake smiles. 'So, Blaine,' Devon starts, 'Does Kurt have any siblings?' 'Ehm... no,' Blaine answers, 'Maybe I'll have a stepbrother later. We'll have one,' he corrects himself.Cute, Kurt thinks. Blaine does look really cute. He wears a simple white polo with a grey/white bowtie. Looks like he's wearing the same pants and black, shiny shoes. Still no socks.
Kurt approves.
'Stepbrother?' Celia asks, 'Where's Kurt's mom?' Kurt sees that Burt looks away. 'My- my mom died in a car accident when I was eight.' Silence fell. 'You look like her,' Burt says to Kurt, 'You are exactly the same.' 'You have a picture of her?' Kurt asks. 'Hang on,' Burt says and hesearches for something in his really big pockets of his baggy old lookingjeans. 'Here!' He gives Kurt his wallet.
------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, Kurt does look like his mom. He can't stop looking at a photo of his mom, Burt and little Blaine. His mom isn't the only thing he's looking at, but also little Blaine. He even wore a bowtie back then. He gives the photo back and Celia starts talking again. 'And what school does Blaine attend? Kurt goes to the all boys private school Dalton Academy in Westerville. He boards there.' Kurt smiles weakly.
'Oh, Blaine goes to McKinley, in Lima,' Burt answers, 'Not as fancy as Dalton. It's a public school.' Blaine nods,'I'm at the glee club there-' That gets Kurt's attention. '- The New Directions.' 'Oh,' Devon says surprised, 'Well that's eh, nice.' Kurt looks at his not-dad. Kurt was in a glee club too, and his father didn't like it. 'Kurt is in that choir club at Dalton,' Celia says, 'The Garglers.' 'Warblers,' Kurt corrects her.
~~~
Blaine doesn't feel good. This all doesn't feel right. 'And boy,' Devon asks, 'Girlfriend?' Blaine shakes his head. 'No?!?' Celia asks shocked, 'A young handsome man like you? I mean, Kurt here is, eh, gay, so we understand. And he goes to an all boys school.' Maybe Blaine is just seeing things, but Devon is shaking his head disapprovingly.
Shit, Blaine thinks.
'Something's wrong?' Burt must have noticed it too, because the question was for Devon. 'What, no. What do you mean?' 'You shook your head,' Burt says calmly, but Blaine feels the tension. Kurt looks shocked.
'Anyway,' Blaine says quickly, 'You have siblings, Kurt?' 'Well, it looks like I will have a stepbrother,' Kurt answers. 'No, now. At your parents-who-aren't-related-to-you side.' Kurt looks sad, 'Oh yeah. Cooper is in LA and I barely see him.'
------------------------------------------------------------
'Kurt, why don't you give Blaine a "tour" trough the house?' Celia suggests, 'I mean, technically it's his house too.' Kurt just nods and stands up. 'You coming?' Blaine follows him.
'The stupid posh dining room, my not-dad's stupid big study room, the stupid first bathroom, the stupid fitness room,' Kurt mutters, 'I'm barely here, so it's all useless to me. Rooms are at the second floor.' Blaine follows him upstairs.
'My parents' room. my brother's room, for when he is home, the second bathroom -the third is on the first floor-, two extra rooms and my room.' He opens the door.
Kurt's room is really clean. 'I'm never here,' Kurt says, 'As long as I can remember, this is the first weekend I've slept here since I went to Dalton. It's okay. You can come in. Being gay doesn't mean I'm gonna do weird stuff with you when we're in my room.' Blaine realizes that he's still standing on the doorstep. 'Sorry,' he says and steps inside. Now he sees more. There's a mirror with a lot of beauty products. A really big closet, open, with barely something inside. 'Most of my clothes are at Dalton,' Kurt explains, 'And that is my uniform, by the way.'
------------------------------------------------------------
'How was my mom?' Kurt asks out of nowhere. 'She- she was nice. So nice. Warm, sweet, kind, like a fairy godmother,' Blaine starts, 'She liked to sing and play piano. Like me, but I play more instruments. She was also very fashionable. That's probably why you looks so stunning.'
Kurt blushes.
Blaine made him blush and damn, he has the feeling he wants to kiss him. 'My not-parents aren't like that,' Kurt says, getting Blaine out of his trance, 'We have a piano somewhere, but we don't use it. It's weird that you got your passion for music from them. I can't imagine.' 'Yeah, genetics are weird.'
'Well, let's go the the last part of this "tour." The garden.'
------------------------------------------------------------
'Ollie, boy, c'mere.' A blackLabradorwalks happily to Kurt, and Kurt's expression changes from empty to happy. 'That's the guesthouse, by the way, but Ollie is more important.' 'Can you take him with you? To your school?' 'Sadly, no,' Kurt answers, 'It's sad, isn't it, Olliebol? I mean, yes I can. To the gardens, but he can't stay inside with me, which is a shame. He's amazing.'
-------------------------------------------------------------
'Kurt, can I ask you a question?' 'Oooooh Olliewolliewolliewollie!' 'Kurt?' 'Uh, what?' 'Can I ask you something?' 'Sure.' 'Do you parents accept you, being gay?' 'I guess. Well, I don't think they like it,' Kurt answers, 'They sent me to Dalton a month after I came out. For "safety." My brother does, by the way. Apart from Ollie, he is the one I love the most in my not-family. But I barely see him. Big commercial star and all.'
Oh. Shit.Blaine simply nods.
'But why did you ask?'
