“What are the ethical implications of tutoring someone you have a crush on?”

Wes lowers his boba.

“Uh… I can’t say I know.”

“Aren’t you, like, a lawyer?” Blaine asks.

Wes uses one shoulder to shrug. “Am I, Blaine? I don’t think this planet falls under my jurisdiction. I’m still obtaining my human law degree, although some laws here are just so primitive-”

“Alright,” Blaine cuts his friend off. He loves to support Wes and his passion, but if he doesn’t stop him, then Wes will go on and on about the differences between intergalactic law systems and that’s not what Blaine needs right now.

He needs simple advice.

Kurt’s agreed to letting Blaine mentor him, which is a big win, but it does lead to the question that Blaine just asked. After all, Blaine needs to be completely professional. Kurt’s paying Blaine actual money to have him teach Kurt Dutch. He cannot afford to dream on the job.

But Kurt is so dreamy.

“Snap out of it, man,” Wes waves his hand in front of Blaine’s besotted face.

“Sorry,” Blaine mumbles, “He’s just… just… just!”

Wes nods thoughtfully.

“He’s just just. Very profound, Mr. I Know All Languages Of The Universe,” Wes says with a cheerful mocking tone.

Blaine laughs.

“Shut up. I get ineloquent when I’m insecure!”

“Insecure, huh?” Wes raises an eyebrow.

“Shut up,” Blaine repeats. He knows it’s all in jest. He knows that Wes understands. They moved across the universe! They have enough reasons to be insecure! At least Blaine and his friends researched the, uhm, mating rituals of human beings.

It’s very confusing.

Trent said that different groups of people have different views on dating life and marriage and all that.

Oh my! Does Blaine first need to learn what Kurt’s dating beliefs are? He’d completely forgotten to think about that! What if Kurt is someone who expects a partner to come on strong.

“Blaine, hey!” Wes waves again.

Blaine quickly tells Wes what’s on his mind. Wes nods thoughtfully.

“That is smart. Get to know Kurt’s preferences first,” Wes says.

“How will I manage to do that while also keeping things professional?” Blaine wonders out loud.

“Maybe by using relationships as a topic,” Wes suggests, “You know, you get the standard stuff like grammar and introductions, and then you move on to topics.”

Blaine ponders this. Wes has a point. Blaine had planned on starting with animals as a topic, but he can switch that around.

“How do you say ‘Are you single?’ in Dutch?”

“Ben jij vrijgezel?” Blaine answers. He cringes. He definitely cannot teach Kurt that during one of his first classes. Then it would be too obvious that Blaine is fishing for information. “I’m not asking him that!”

“Your loss,” Wes says with a shrug and a smile.

Blaine sighs.

He has some things to think about.

End Notes:

Wes is holding bubble tea, but after cerriddwenluna asked if it could be Boba Fett, yes feel free to imagine Wes lowering a Boba Fett plushie.
