Uhhhh....
Me, 4 weeks ago: yeah I’ll just start posting this fic so that I have motivation to write it, so good thing I have written a lot in advance.
Me, now: o fuck
Kurt and Blaine try to meet up somewhere in the middle as often as possible, but one time Kurt asks Blaine if he wants to come to the loft in Bushwick.
“I have a very busy day and if you can’t come here, I might have to cancel this week, and I’d like to see you,” Kurt sounds apologetic over the phone, “Is dit heel, uh, erg?”
“Nee, het is oké,” Blaine says back. He’d walk to the end of the world to see Kurt.
Okay, that’s not fully true. It’d be true if he’d have Wes’s teleportation power, but the sentiment is the same.
In fact, Blaine is beyond flattered that Kurt wants to see him. He has to remind himself that it’s probably for Dutch learning reasons, but he still replays Kurt saying “I’d like to see you” in his head during his trip to Bushwick.
Once he’s arrived and Kurt’s let him in, Blaine’s amazed to see sticky notes everywhere. Kurt’s put them on random things and he’s written the Dutch translation on the note. Kurt shows him around.
“Yes, it is tedious,” they suddenly hear.
Another woman is clearly on her way out. Blaine didn’t hear a door opening, but that’s probably because this place doesn’t really have doors. Or walls.
“Santana,” she says as a greeting, “Is it true you speak every language in the world, or did Rachel and Kurt say that in jest?”
“It’s true,” Blaine says and the next thing he knows, Santana’s speaking to him in rapid Spanish. It does take Blaine a few seconds to switch and he talks back. The two of them have a full conversation about the sticky notes in Spanish and Kurt watches them in amazement.
After a while, a satisfied smirk forms on Santana’s face.
“Alright, you got me there,” she says. Then she turns to Kurt. “He’s a keeper.”
“Santana-” Kurt starts, but Santana walks out of the door.
A keeper? Blaine thinks to himself. Is Santana saying what he thinks she’s saying? Or does Blaine just hear what he wants to hear?
The day after, Blaine tells Wes everything.
“You really like him,” Wes says.
“Wasn’t that obvious?” Blaine says back.
Wes shrugs. “Well, yeah, it was. But you’re actually going to pursue him? Is that a smart idea?”
“Oh, yeah, like I need your advice on relationships!” Blaine snaps back, “Remember Mae?”
That makes Wes’s face fall.
“Okay, that was unnecessary,” he says, “Mae wanted more in life and I am happy she took the opportunity to move close to a collapsing black hole! And honestly, I’m not sure how to feel about dating a human.”
“How so?” Blaine asks, aghast. Wes was the one teasing him about his crush on Kurt, basically encouraging him, and how he’s speciest? “There’s nothing wrong with humans!”
Wes holds up his hands in defence.
“I know, that’s not the problem,” he quickly says, “But what is a problem is heartbreak. Look, I know I was rooting for you and all that, but I’ve been thinking… Blaine, you gotta remember that we’re not certain about our stay here. We’ve been on Earth for a year already. At one point, they are going to expect us to come back.”
Wes has a point.
Of course Wes has a damn point.
But the heart wants what it wants. Blaine does file Wes’s comment away for later, but that isn’t going to stop him from learning more about Kurt.
