Chapter 11
“We could put worms in his pants… Or we could set them on fire… Or–”
“Jeff…”
“–we could throw water balloons at him…”
“Jeff…”
“Maybe we could shave his head…”
“Jeff!”
“Oh, sorry, you were saying?” Jeff smiled broadly at Kurt, who was glaring at him from the other side of the table.
They were sitting in the library facing each other and since there was nobody around, the blonde took this as a sign that he should produce as much noise as he could. Hence, a never ending monologue.
“Are you planning to read through your files any time soon?” Kurt asked in a strained voice. He was stuck on the same page for over ten minutes because he couldn’t focus on anything that wasn’t the other boy’s voice.
“I’m reading right now,” Jeff explained and gestured to an open file in front of him.
“No, you were talking.”
“So? I can do two things at the same time. Actually, sometimes I manage to do more than two things, I’m just that talented,” Jeff explained and turned the page.
Kurt shook his head and closed his file. He took everything he had with him in the library and stood up.
“I’ll see you later,” he said and left.
Everything annoyed Kurt since the moment he left the conference room. Jeff’s talking – annoying. Librarian’s glasses – annoying. Jesse’s existence – annoying. A male newbie crawling on the floor with a camera tied onto his head – annoying.
“Roger?” Kurt asked, his eyes narrowing. There was only one guy in the White Squad and it was the weirdo writer.
The man looked up and shushed him. “Hey, Kurt, don’t be so loud,” he whispered.
The ‘black’ crossed his arms over his chest and stared at Roger, who was now sitting on his heels. “What’s going on?” the agent asked suddenly feeling like the ‘white’ was his responsibility until he got a supervisor appointed to him since he was the one who helped to recruit the guy.
Roger gestured Kurt to come closer and Kurt leaned towards him. “A few guys from the Purple Squad asked me to help them with a mission but I’m not allowed to tell anyone what it is about.”
“Aha…” Kurt said slowly, seeing that his presumption was right. “And these guys just couldn’t take care of it by themselves, huh?”
“I… I mean, they asked me so maybe not? I’m not sure…” Roger frowned thinking.
“Look at me, Roger,” Kurt asked and waited for the guy to look straight at him. Kurt however, looked at the camera on his head. “Now you, jerks, listen to me. If I ever see, hear or even assume that you are playing any of the newbies, I swear, the whole Black Squad will come after you and when we are done, you will have to pee sitting. I hope I made myself clear,” he finished and turned off the camera.
Roger’s shoulders slumped and he sat down by the wall. Kurt watched him take the camera off and sat down next to him.
“You okay?” he asked gently, looking at the man with sympathy.
“Yeah,” he said but at Kurt’s raised eyebrow he corrected himself. “Okay, not really. It’s just not what I expected. It’s just like a high school all over again, you know? When school was over I thought all this crap ended with it but apparently I was too optimistic.”
Kurt looked through the window at the sky and sighed. “It will get better, you know? The beginning is always difficult but it will be okay.”
“Right, says a member of the most badass squad in the whole organization,” Roger snorted incredulously. “And I’m just a new freak.”
“I’ll tell you a story, okay?” Kurt said and waited for the other man to nod. “There was this boy who had no friends at school. He was gay and different so people liked to make fun of him. Sometimes it was just words, sometimes it was physical. Sometimes worse…
“When he finished high school it felt like freedom. He went to New York but life wasn’t as good as he hoped because in the real world bullying is worse, it’s more elaborate than some slurs. Let’s just say some adults can be worse bullies than teenagers.”
Roger opened his mouth to say something but since Kurt wasn’t looking at him, the agent didn’t notice and just continued.
“One day he was chosen to come here and he agreed to join the C.A.T. At first he thought it was a joke, like, why would anyone want him? Nevertheless, he stayed because he was curious and thought that a change in life was something he needed. And the life did change but one thing stayed the same…”
“The bullying?” Roger asked.
Kurt looked at him with a sad smile. “Yes. There were these two guys, also from the Purple Squad, who didn’t like the boy so they tormented him. The boy was new here and didn’t know how the things worked so he stayed silent just like in high school where nobody cared about bullying. It went on until someone stepped in and helped the boy. From then onwards things changed for him. He was taught not to be afraid to stand up for himself as well as that sometimes it’s okay to be weak and tell someone that you need help.
“Things will change for you too, I promise. Soon you will get a supervisor and he or she will be someone you will be able to go to with all your problems and questions. This person will be there for you. And you can always come to me or Blaine, or Jeff whenever we are here. Just don’t suffer in silence.”
Roger wiped his tears from his cheeks and nodded. “Okay. Thanks, Kurt,” he said and stood up. “So how is the gay sex recently?”
Kurt laughed and stood up as well. “It’s nice to see that you are doing better already,” he said and motioned to the elevator. “So I guess I’ll be going now. I have some reading to do.”
“Okay,” Roger nodded. “Just one more question… Do you think it could be the same guys that did stuff to yo… the boy, that are making fun of me?”
“No,” Kurt answered without hesitation. “One of them is dead and the other one… Let’s just say he doesn’t wear purple anymore.”
“What colour is he then?”
“He prefers black now,” Kurt said with a wink and walked away.
“Black?” Roger frowned and walked to the different direction.
<~*~>
Kurt wasn’t the only one annoyed by every little thing. Blaine wasn’t doing any better, except his whole annoyance was strictly about the man in his living room, sitting comfortably on his couch.
“You know, I find it really hot that you will be protecting my life,” Jesse said with a smirk. “The danger always turns me on.”
Blaine made some sort of noise in the back of his throat but other than that he didn’t show that he actually heard the other man. He thought that maybe if he didn’t respond long enough, the other man would take a hint and stop his stupid comments. No such luck so far.
“I’d rather take you as my date though, it would be so much more fun…”
“I thought you had a girlfriend?” Blaine asked before he could stop himself.
“Oh, so you were listening,” the singer laughed. “I had a girlfriend but we broke up not long ago. Everyone becomes boring after a while but you are different. It’s been years and I’m still fascinated by you. You are... interesting.”
“And taken,” Blaine pointed out and resumed the reading.
“Got yourself a boyfriend?” Jesse’s eyes widened.
“Yeah, and he is great. Smart, funny, beautiful. Everything I ever wanted.”
“Good for you…” the man said and flipped through the file. “You know, I’m getting thirsty. Could you bring me a glass of juice? Please?”
“Sure,” Blaine muttered and went into the kitchen.
He couldn’t stand the guy. He didn’t even know why he used to like him. Of course, Jesse was handsome but there is so much more about a person than just his looks. He knew that he would love Kurt even if his face wasn’t as pretty as it was because beauty came from inside and his boyfriend was the most beautiful person he had ever met.
Not able to stand Jesse for long periods Blaine took his time with the drink. He washed a used glass first, then dried it and opened the fridge to grab one of the cartons of juice.
“Hurry up, I’m getting lonely here,” he heard the singer’s voice and had to stop himself from growling out loud.
“In a minute,” he said in a neutral voice, which was really difficult to maintain.
Once the drink was in the glass and the carton back in the fridge, Blaine had no more excuses to stay in the kitchen and with a deep breath he went back into the living room. And the sight in front of him made him wish he had stayed in the other room because there, in front of him, Jesse lay on the couch in all his glory, the man’s clothes scattered on the table.
“You have got to be kidding me,” Blaine croaked.
“So I was thinking… this whole sexual tension that’s been going on between the two of us? We should solve it,” Jesse said in a low voice, his eyes moving over Blaine’s stiff body. “I have a huge dick, you have a tight ass so how about we put those in a good use?”
Blaine shook with rage inside but didn’t allow it to be seen by the other man because one of the first lessons any new agent learned was to never let your enemies see how much effect they had on you.
“What do you think you are doing?” he tried to appear calm.
“Oh, I just thought I should show you what you were missing out,” Jesse said and took his cock in his hand gently. “I bet I’m bigger than that boyfriend of yours.”
Blaine snorted at that. “Don’t flatter yourself. He is longer, thicker and much prettier.”
“I see you took your time staring at me since you are able to compare us,” the singer smirked and Blaine wanted to hit his head since he had fallen right into Jesse’s traps. “Put your clothes on.”
“Oh, come on, it’s pretty… hot in here,” the man said, slowly moving his hand up and down his length.
“I’ll ask you once – put your clothes on and leave before I kick your ass out of here,” Blaine said, his voice still calm but his eyes gave away what he was feeling towards the man.
Jesse stood up but didn’t make a move to put his clothes on. “You see, I’m both a paying client and a member of the C.A.T. so you can’t really use violence against me… I mean, it’s against rules, don’t you think? I’m sure Burt wouldn’t be happy with you.”
“Actually, I think he would be fine. Burt and I are kind of close,” Blaine smirked and put the glass on the table. “Now, are you going to leave or should I help you with that?”
Jesse however didn’t seem scared at all as he began to walk closer to Blaine, his hand finally releasing his hardening cock. “Pretending to be hard to get, aren’t you? That’s alright, I like to play with my prey,” the singer purred.
Blaine calculated the distance between the two of them, waiting for the moment he could reach the other man and knock the wind out of him. He still wasn’t sure if it was a wise decision but the more Jesse talked, the more Blaine wanted to do it. He would deal with the consequences later.
The singer was already close enough and the agent got mentally ready to punch when he heard the door being opened and closed and Kurt came into view seconds later before either man could do anything.
“Kurt,” Blaine breathed and stepped away from Jesse.
“You,” Kurt pointed at Jesse, “get out of here. Now!”
Jesse didn’t move though. “You could watch if you wanted to? Or you could join us,” he suggested seductively.
“Get out or I will take the least sharp knife we have and cut your dick off!” Kurt yelled at the man and Blaine shuddered at his boyfriend’s forcefulness.
“Fine, fine. You must be the most boring couple I’ve ever met,” Jesse said and put his clothes on without rushing.
Seeing Kurt so angry made Blaine wish Jesse was staying for a bit longer because with the singer gone the whole attention will be on him, which also meant that the whole anger would be channelled towards him. It was not something he wanted to experience.
“I’ll see you later,” Jesse winked at Blaine and finally left.
An uncomfortable silence settled in the room between two men until Blaine broke it. “Kurt, it’s not what you think.”
“Really?” Kurt asked with his eyebrows raised. “Because I thought you went into the kitchen and while you were there that asshole got naked and then tried to hit on you. Isn’t it what happened?”
Blaine looked at him surprised. “How?...”
“I couldn’t concentrate with Jeff around so I decided to come here but first I wanted to check if you were here or not so I checked the cameras on my phone and saw what was happening. I think I broke my phone a little from clutching it too hard,” Kurt explained and was about to sit down on the couch when he changed his mind and sat on the armchair. “We’ll have to burn that couch.”
Blaine let out a nervous laugh and sat down on the table in front of his boyfriend. “I’m sorry about this whole mess. You have to know that there is nothing to worry about. I don’t like Jesse at all and I made it clear that I don’t want to get involved with him,” he said and took Kurt’s hand. “You are the only man I see, you know that, right? I love you.”
“I love you too,” Kurt said, visibly relaxing at the words. “I just can’t stand him being here. Hopefully we won’t get to see a lot of him.”
“Well, maybe not after the mission…”
“After the mission?” Kurt echoed. “Are you telling me you are still going to be paired up with him? A man who just tried to seduce you while jerking off on our couch?”
“It’s not like I have a choi–”
“Of course you do have a choice!” Kurt’s voice got higher and he retracted his hand from Blaine’s grip. “Tell my dad what happened and switch with someone. It’s simple!”
“It’s unprofessional. Everyone has begun the preparation and–” Blaine tried to explain but was cut off again.
“It’s been what? Half an hour? Forty minutes? We have days to prepare so I’m sure nobody would mind switching. Fuck, even I would switch with you,” Kurt offered.
“What do you think it’s going to happen if I keep to the original plan?” Blaine asked. “You already saw that I’m not interested in him. Do you not trust me at all?”
“Did you take this phrase from some rom com?” Kurt laughed coldly. “I will give you an answer that all of them do – it’s not you that I don’t trust, it’s that scum!”
Blaine closed his eyes for a moment trying to collect himself before he said something he would regret later. “Kurt, baby, don’t you think you are being slightly unreasonable?” he asked and regretted his words immediately as they were met with a cold glare. “I mean, no matter what Jesse does, I would never cheat on you. I would never risk ruining what we have. You are the one for me and I don’t want anyone else. Please, believe me.”
Kurt bit his lip trying not to smile. “It’s unfair, you know I can’t resist your puppy eyes,” he said and took a deep calming breath. “Okay, I trust you and I love you. It’s just that having your former crush around and then seeing him naked so close to you made me incredibly jealous. And possessive.”
“Possessive?” Blaine asked with a smirk and stood up, leaning over Kurt to crowd his space. “Maybe you could remind me who I belong to.”
Blaine knew that the problem wasn’t solved just yet. Kurt may trust him but the seed of doubt was already there and he hoped that nothing would grow out of it. He would have to make sure it wouldn’t.
“Yeah, I think I should do that,” his boyfriend said and for a while they could forget all about their issues.
