Kurt was at a loss, staring between his phone and his computer. Blaine promised he would call. He seemed genuine enough, but Kurt couldn’t forget that maybe it was just Blaine being polite. Maybe he would never get another phone call from Blaine. Maybe he would be left waiting for the rest of his life. And maybe he was being just a little dramatic.

It had been a total of seventeen hours since their date. Kurt couldn’t sleep, partly from the excitement their date had caused, mostly from the insomnia. At least he had something he could think about instead of sleeping. He could think about how perfectly their hands seemed to fit together as they weaved through the exhibits in the zoo. Or he could think about how surprised Blaine’s face was as Kurt led him to the cheesy little picnic he’d set up on the grass in the garden. Or he could think about the moment when Kurt led Blaine up to his apartment door and their lips met for a more-than-perfect second kiss. Yeah, Kurt could definitely keep thinking about that one.

He couldn’t help but be a little surprised about how innocent this all had been. It was so sweet and simple that he had been able to forget all about that little side job that Blaine had. But, how could he forget when that little side job was the reason they had met in the first place? Thinking about it made Kurt’s stomach twist, though. He knew Blaine was probably still working that web-cam side show. They had been on one date, there was no obligation to up and quit. But that knot didn’t go away as he thought more about it.

He couldn’t stop his mind from wandering to the dark place he thought he could avoid. He felt so stupid, letting the jealousy consume him. He didn’t feel like it was his place to be jealous. Not yet. He wasn’t committed to Blaine and Blaine wasn’t committed to him. They were not official or anything. They’d gone on one date. But it was hard to imagine Blaine sitting in from of his webcam for someone else. It hurt, more than Kurt would ever admit. Especially if that was the reason that Blaine hadn’t called him yet. Kurt felt sick to his stomach.

Finally, he made himself lie down and watch Tangled. As stupid as it sounded, the silly Disney movie reminded him of when he was in high school. He had such big dreams, just like Rapunzel. He just wanted to be accepted and loved for exactly who he was. Unlike Rapunzel, he got lucky. He had a loving dad who accepted him more than he could ever imagine. He also got Carole, and Finn. He was relieved that his step brother could so easily joke about Kurt’s crush back before their parents had met. He couldn’t help but compare that crush to this one.

Sure, he’d met and dated a few people in the years since then, but it was never like his first crush. Even his feelings for Blaine weren’t like that first crush. Nothing can compare. But if there was one thing that made him feel similar, it was Blaine. It was the butterflies at every smile. The way his cheeks lit up at every sweet compliment. Maybe it did feel like his first crush. Maybe it felt better than his first crush. As much as he didn’t want to admit it, Kurt had fallen and fallen hard for this silly, curly-haired boy.

He was surprised he had finally fallen asleep. Maybe it was because he was counting little Blaine-sheep as they jumped over the fence. Blaine’s face was the perfect thing to fall asleep to. He was surprised when he woke to the buzzer ringing. He stumbled his way over and pressed the button with out really caring who it was. It was about three minutes later that his door was being knocked on. He opened it with a yawn.

Blaine stood there, flowers in his arm. He took a minute to take in the disheveled Kurt. His hair was messy, and the side of his face was still imprinted with the shape of his pillow. Blaine’s smile was bigger than he could remember ever smiling.

“I woke you up. I’m so sorry.” He said, though he wasn’t sorry that he got to see this.

Kurt blushed, but stepped aside quickly. “It’s my fault for sleeping at such odd times. Please, come in.” Blaine stepped inside, kicking off his shoes.

“These are for you…” Blaine said, suddenly almost regretting them. “I’m sorry, that’s cheesy, isn’t it?”

“Blaine, I just took you on our first date to the zoo. This isn’t cheesy at all, and I love them.” He smiled gently and kissed his cheek, taking them. “I’ll put them in a vase.” He couldn’t get far though. Blaine took his face between his hands and pulled him in for a kiss. It took Kurt’s breath away and all he could do was wrap his arms around Blaine’s neck to keep himself upright. Blaine wrapped his arms around his waist, happy to steady him.

“Mm.” Kurt rested his forehead against Blaine’s.

“I’m sorry to surprise you like this.” Blaine said, softly. He pulled Kurt a little closer. “I should have called or something but I was working, and then I passed this cute little flower shop and it reminded me of you and I bought them and I wanted to bring them to you right away and…” Blaine was cut off by Kurt’s lips again. Kurt kissed him softly, gently keeping him close with his hand behind his head.

“I’m glad you’re here.” Kurt whispered. Blaine smiled at him.

“I was hoping you would say that, sleepy head.” Blaine ran his hand through Kurt’s messy hair.

Kurt hesitantly pulled back and he couldn’t miss the pout on Blaine’s face. “Are you hungry?” Kurt asked. “I could put some tea on.” He offered.

“I wouldn’t be opposed to a spot of tea.” Blaine couldn’t fight his British accent. Kurt giggled.

“I’ll put some on.” He said, disappearing into the kitchen. He was quick to forget his earlier worries.

Blaine took his coat and scarf off, laying them on back of the couch, waiting for Kurt to return. He couldn’t help looking around. The pictures on the side table made him smile. He wanted nothing more than to get to know the people that make Kurt smile that wide. He ventured to the book shelf, right next to the shelf of Blu-rays. Blaine was impressed.

Kurt came back in with two mugs. “The Dark Knight Rises?” Blaine said, grinning at him. “I didn’t peg you for a Superhero guy.” He took the cup Kurt offered.

“I have a giant man crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt.” Kurt responded, bashfully. “Not to mention these movies are great.” He smiled.

“I’m going to have to agree with you.” Blaine nodded.

“Did you want any honey or sugar?” Kurt offered.

“No, thank you.”

“Make yourself at home, then.” Kurt said with a fond smile.

“I won’t stay long. I’ll let you get back to sleep.” Blaine said, sitting on the couch.

“There’s no rush. I probably won’t fall asleep again anyways.” Kurt responded, sitting next to him. “You’re welcome to stay.”

“In that case…” Blaine set his cup down and stretched his arms out. Smoothly, he rested them on the back of the couch, his left arm wrapping around Kurt’s shoulders.

“Smooth.” Kurt said with a chuckle. He leaned in to him though, unable to resist.

“Tell you what.” Blaine started. “Since I interrupted and woke you up, I’ll stay until I get you back to sleep.” He smiled.

“Oh, you don’t have to do that. You already took care of me that night I passed out.” He blushed, remembering it.

“I know. And I got you to sleep then, didn’t I?” He joked. “I’ll cut you a deal then. I’ll get you to sleep, and you let me plan our second date.” Blaine’s confidence was astounding and Kurt was enthralled.

“You act like I’m going to say no or something.” Kurt teased, though he expected it was the opposite.

“Deal or no deal?” Blaine said with a smirk.

“Deal.” Kurt responded. He hadn’t had time to think before Blaine was lifting him off the couch. “Blaine, Blaine, Blaine! I’m heavier than I look.” Kurt said, holding on around his neck tightly.

“Oh hush, you.” Blaine said, grinning. “Which way to the bedroom?”

“First door on the right.” Kurt said, trying to stay calm. Blaine carried Kurt through the door and gently laid him on the bed. Kurt watched his face as Blaine gently tucked Kurt in under the covers.

“We’re going to drink our tea and watch a little TV. I promise you I’ll get you to sleep.” Blaine said. He disappeared for a minute and returned with their mugs. He handed Kurt his before getting comfortable next to him. He gently wrapped his arm around his shoulders again.

Kurt couldn’t help but relax in to him. It had been so long since he had truly been taken care of. And here Blaine was, ready to do whatever it took to help Kurt get asleep. They finished their tea and Blaine set the cups on the table.

“You’re chilly.” Kurt said, turning to cuddle in to him more.

“I’m fine, handsome.” Blaine responded, gently petting his hair.

“Why don’t you get under the covers?” Kurt offered.

“Are you trying to get with me, Hummel?” Blaine joked.

“No. I just want to cuddle.” Kurt hadn’t uttered those words since he was a child. But it felt acceptable.

“Good thing I’m a professional cuddler.” Blaine said, sliding under the covers. Kurt smiled fondly as he laid his head on Blaine’s chest.

“Better.” Kurt said with a happy sigh. Blaine kept running his fingers through Kurt’s hair. He watched as Kurt’s eyes fluttered shut and slowly his breathing was evening out. He smiled gently.

“Goodnight, sweet Kurt.” Blaine said, softly kissing his forehead.

“Night, Blainers.” Kurt murmured and Blaine felt nothing but fondness for the beautiful blue eyed boy in his arms. His grin was growing because of the silly nickname that sleepy Kurt probably didn’t even mean to say, but he loved it. He couldn’t bring himself to leave him alone in his big apartment. Instead, he kept petting his hair, slowly falling asleep with him.

Blaine was surprised that when he woke up, Kurt was still fast asleep in his arms. Blaine let his mind wander, not wanting to risk waking Kurt up by moving. He was thinking about Kurt. How could he not? He thought about how lonely he’d been just a few weeks ago. How he could only get any form of happiness from pleasing his costumers. But since meeting Kurt at the jail the night he was bailed out, he hadn’t logged in once. He felt too ashamed to log in and put on a show for his customers. He knew he didn’t have to feel that way. But how could he put on a show for someone when he was just starting to let himself feel things again?

Since he dated Sebastian back at Dalton, he hadn’t been the same. He was attracted to Sebastian’s confidence and how sexy he could be. But he quickly learned how cruel and dark he was. The break up was messy and terrifying for eighteen year old Blaine, and he responded the only way he knew how. He closed himself off from the world. He moved away as soon as he could. It wasn’t like he had any reason to stay. His family hadn’t cared when he packed up his things and drove away.

The worst part was leaving Dalton, though. Before the breakup with Sebastian, Blaine had so many friends. Slowly, though, Sebastian had taken over. It started with a solo, then two, then all of them. Then, Blaine’s friends were no longer his. They were Sebastian’s. He was left alone in the one place that he had felt like he belonged. Dalton was the one place that gave him the confidence to continue to be strong. Since then, he thought that loneliness was all that he deserved. And then Kurt showed him the kindness he’d been missing.

Maybe he was looking too far in to this relationship, but Blaine was just so hopeful. It felt good to open his heart to Kurt. It felt like finally he could be himself again. He could stop pretending like the webcam shows actually made him feeling anything more than dirty. He could stop starving himself of the physical contact he craved. He could maybe even learn to love again. And they weren’t even officially dating yet. He had a lot of planning to do for this next date. He just hoped it was go as perfectly as he dreamed.
