Author's Notes: So, my life's pretty shit at the moment. At the moment, I'm having my own Cinderella story, sans the Prince Charming. So just the evil stepmother and the father who doesn't give a shit. Just... wonderful. Who knows, maybe someday my Prince will come? (Yes, that was a song reference, deal with it. :P)Anyway, here's chapter two. Please, drop me a review at the end, they literally make my life feel just that little bit better.Obviously, I'm only updating like once a week, so please stick with me; it should be fun! a86; Also, I have tumblr, so feel free to come follow me and I'll let you know when I'm updating the next chapter; I'm misslucyharries on there a86;Enjoy the next chapter!
You Look Familiar: Chapter 2

Blaine and Kurt walked to their room in complete silence, anger bubbling up inside them both. Why, of all people, must I room with him?! Kurt thought, praying to whatever was up there that someone would drop out and he could take their room.

Finally, after what felt like an hour of walking in silence, Blaine stopped in front of their dorm and dug out a key, before swinging open the door. He stepped inside, and Kurt followed, before stopping to admire the room. It was quite big, larger than Kurt expected his dorm room to be, with two single beds situated within a foot of each other. The room was almost symmetrical, with a desk and chest of drawers on both sides, and a small ensuite. Great, another thing we’re going to have to share. Blaine’s side of the room just screamed ‘Blaine’ though. His bedspread was dark navy and red (much like many of his clothes, if what he wore in the summer was anything to go by), and the walls were plastered with posters of various bands and shows, including Wicked. Kurt’s heart broke at the sight of it; the two boys were so similar, so made for each other. He shook the thought out of his head and began to unpack his bags, meticulously unfolding and refolding his clothes before placing them in the drawers.

Blaine sat down on his bed and watched the porcelain boy with curiosity. What was he even doing here? What about McKinley? Kurt had constantly talked about how much he loved it there; Blaine could practically take an exam in Kurt’s friends’ lives. What had changed? Before he realised it, he had verbalised his thoughts.

“What are you doing here?”

Kurt spun round in surprise, watching as Blaine mentally kicked himself for his lack of filter. Kurt’s face hardened, and he turned back to his packing.

“Do you even really care, Blaine?”

That hurt. After everything, Blaine was sure that Kurt knew that Blaine would do anything for the countertenor. Did he just think that all those nights of Blaine listening to Kurt’s past was just a lie?

“Of course I do.” Kurt was surprised at the softness in Blaine’s voice. After all these months of no contact, of no apology, and after the way he lied… It was a little hard to believe. So Kurt did what he normally did. He put his walls up.

“I needed a change of scenery.”

Blaine could practically see Kurt closing in on himself; he’d done it that summer too. On their second night together, Kurt had refused to tell him why he was so upset. Kurt had eventually told him all about the dumpster tosses and the slushie facials, and Blaine had felt honoured to have broken those barriers; that Kurt trusted him. Now he was back to square 1.
“I find that a little hard to believe.”

Kurt sucked in his breath and glared at Blaine, looking like he’d just been slapped in the face.

“What does it even matter to you, Blaine? It’s over between us! It has been since August, so I’m sorry if I don’t feel the need to spill my entire life story to you, but it’s none of your fucking business!”

Blaine’s face remained emotionless as he tried to ignore the stinging in his eyes. He promised himself he wouldn’t cry over Kurt Hummel again, he’d promised. Silence filled the air once more and Kurt turned back to his packing, ignoring the tears rolling down his cheeks. His phone vibrated on the desk and he picked it up, eyes scanning the text on the screen. Blaine turned to look at the boy as he grabbed his blazer, making his way towards the door.

“Where are you going?”

“To talk to someone who gives a shit.” And with that, the door slammed shut, leaving Blaine with his thoughts once more.

********

Kurt stormed down the corridor, anger blazing in his eyes. Why was Blaine being like this? He was the one that broke Kurt’s heart, not the other way round. He was the one who had a secret boyfriend. He was the one who used Kurt and threw him away like last season’s shoes. Yet, after all the shit that Blaine put him through, Kurt was still affected by the boy’s words. And that was what he was truly angry about.

Stopping outside the cafeteria, he took a moment to collect himself. Ethan didn’t know about his history with Blaine, and he planned on keeping it that way. Sure, Ethan was a great guy, and he’d been super nice about the whole bullying thing but he’d also made it very clear that he didn’t like Blaine. Kurt couldn’t help but wonder what had happened between them, but kept it to himself. He didn’t know Ethan well enough yet to ask those sorts of questions.

Taking a deep breath, he walked into the room and scanned it to see Ethan sat near the window. He quickly bought himself a cup of coffee and sat down with the blonde boy, who placed a comforting hand on Kurt’s arm.

“How’s everything going?”

“Ok, I guess. I just… I miss my friends. They were the only thing keeping me at McKinley anyway, but they mean so much to me it’s just… hard to be apart from them.”

Ethan began to rub comforting circles into Kurt’s hand using his thumb, making Kurt’s body shiver. He still wasn’t quite used to being openly touched by another boy but Ethan made him feel safe.
“I know you do. And Karofsky hasn’t tried to contact you at all?”

Kurt had told him everything, from the kiss to the death threat. Ethan had been shocked, to say the least, when he’d heard about the kiss, but had given Kurt some good (well, good at the time) advice to go and confront Karofsky about it all. Sadly, it had only resulted in Kurt fearing for his life and Ethan apologizing profusely down the phone (Kurt had told him it wasn’t his fault, it wasn’t like he could go and confront Karofsky with him).

“No. Finn told me that he’s still bullying other kids at McKinley, but he’s calmed down a bit. I guess my leaving was good for the school.” He said bitterly, staring intently into his coffee cup. He felt a hand cup his chin as Ethan caught his gaze, emerald green eyes meeting his own.

“Don’t say that. McKinley has a huge hole in it without you, and Dalton is incredibly lucky to have someone as clever and kind as you here.”

Kurt blinked back tears, biting his bottom lip to stop his sobs. It’d been an emotional day.

The two boys talked for the best part of an hour about anything and everything. Kurt found himself really warming to Ethan; he was kind of like his gay Yoda. He had been out for longer than Kurt, and despite not knowing what it was like for gays in real life, he helped Kurt. He was his only friend here.

Glancing down at his watch, Ethan cursed under his breath, meeting Kurt’s gaze apologetically.

“I really need to go, I’ve got Warblers practice. Walk me there?”

Kurt nodded and the two boys began to walk in a comfortable silence towards the choir room, hand in hand (Kurt had discovered that Ethan was a very touchy feely person). Suddenly, Ethan stopped in his tracks, smiling widely at Kurt.

“Hey, you were in your old Glee club, why don’t you audition? You’d be a great addition to the Warblers!”

Kurt blushed, considering the idea. Sure, he’d love to join the Warblers, but it meant competing against the New Directions, and he wasn’t sure he could do that. Then again, he did miss singing. It had been his one true release at McKinley.

“I might just take you up on that offer.”

*********

Blaine flopped down onto one of the tattered choir room sofas with a heavy sigh. After Kurt had stormed out, Blaine had just lay on his bed and sobbed for a good 20 minutes, until his eyes were puffy and his throat was sore (probably not a good idea, considering he had rehearsal now). Shutting his eyes, he drifted into his own thoughts. Why was Kurt being so hostile towards him? He had ended things, not Blaine. And what sort of reason was ‘he didn’t feel the same way’? If he didn’t feel the same way, why did he go out with him? Blaine was sure that all he saw in Kurt’s eyes those few months was love, but obviously he wasn’t as good at reading people as he thought. He felt the sofa dip beside him and he opened one eye to glare at Wes, who looked like he was about to explode.

“Guess who I just saw in the cafeteria, wearing a Dalton uniform?!”

Blaine groaned and closed his eyes again, curling in on himself. He heard Wes sigh.

“Ah. I’m guessing you already know.”

“Know what?” The sofa dipped on the other side as David made himself comfortable.

“Well, I was grabbing a drink before rehearsal when I saw…”

“Who did you see?” Two voices said in unison, causing Blaine to groan. Jeff and Nick swung themselves onto the back of the sofa in a very ungentlemanly fashion. Wes glared at them both.

“As I was saying before you so rudely interrupted, I was grabbing a drink before rehearsal when I saw none other than…”

“What are you guys talking about?”

Trent lumbered over, bumping Wes to the side and sitting close to Blaine. Wes sighed dramatically, placing a hand on his forehead.

“Why oh why must I have such irritating, impatient friends? If you’d wait and listen to the story instead of interrupting me, you’d know that I just saw Kurt in the cafeteria, wearing a Dalton uniform!” He clapped a hand over his mouth. “You lot just ruined my entire story! I was going to build up to that!”

Jeff patted him on the back comfortingly as the others tried to digest the information.

“Kurt Hummel?”

“As in Blaine’s Kurt?”

“KURTY!”

Blaine turned to stare at Nick, who blushed bright red. “I haven’t seen him in a while, ok? I miss him!” He stated in explanation, averting his gaze from Blaine’s. Trent was sporting a look of complete horror.

“What’s he doing here? I mean, you two broke up, so why’s he followed you here?”

Blaine, ignoring Trent’s ramblings, looked at Wes helplessly.

“He’s my roommate.”

All the boys winced sympathetically whilst exchanging confused glances.

“So did he tell you why he was here?”

“He wanted a ‘change of scenery’.”

“Well that’s a blatant lie.”

Blaine glared at Jeff. “Thank you, Captain Obvious.”

Wes rolled his eyes, patting Blaine’s shoulder to get his attention. “So what are you going to do about it?”

Blaine shrugged, shifting further down the sofa. “Nothing, I guess. There’s nothing I can do except wait and see what happens. That, and hope he finally gives me a real reason for breaking my heart.”

The guys nodded in agreement and Wes stood up, glancing at the clock. Warblers rehearsal officially started two minutes ago. The rest of the Warblers rolled their eyes. Despite being a great friend, Wes was a stickler for rules, and tardiness was never tolerated. He strode towards the doors, ready to glare at the latecomers as they entered. He threw open the door, revealing Kurt and Ethan chatting, hands clasped together. Blaine sat up straight, staring at the two boys. It was as if his heart broke once more. Kurt’s eyes met Blaine’s and he quickly withdrew his hand from Ethan’s before making his excuses and running off at the speed of light towards the dorms, leaving Blaine feeling even worse (if that were possible). Ethan strode into the choir room, ignoring Wes’s glare. Catching Blaine’s eye, he registered the heartbroken look on Blaine’s face before smirking gloatingly and taking a seat near the front.

Blaine sat back in his seat, utterly dumbfounded. What the hell is going on?
