”I’m sorry… you’re who? Rachel doesn’t have a brother; she would have mentioned that at some point over the past 3 years.” Kurt said his voice a pitch higher than usual.
Blaine chuckled at this, “You’d think, wouldn’t you. Well I can understand that you didn’t know I existed. I don’t come home for weekends very often, but seeing as holidays are next week, I figured I’d come home to the family.”
”B-but, I don’t understand any of this.”
”I get it; this is a little awkward for me as well. Mostly because I already know exactly who you are, and I know quite a bit about you. I’m sure you’re well aware of how much my sister likes to talk. Right Kurt?”
It was the first time Blaine had said his name, and Kurt found himself not caring in the slightest how Blaine knew it, all he knew was that he wanted to hear Blaine say his name again and again. Never before had Kurt been so entranced by someone. After the initial shock settled, and he calmed down a bit, he took the time to really look at Blaine, and what he saw he liked. Blaine was slightly shorter than Kurt, he had hair that had far too much gel, the most gorgeous eyes Kurt had ever seen, after looking at Blaine thoroughly he realized that there really is a resemblance between Rachel and him. Not a large resemblance, but a slight one.
”-Urt? Kurt? You still there, you seemed to be off in your own world for a moment.”
”Huh? Oh, yeah I’m here. Just thinking is all.” He blushed and looked at his feet. “Anyways, yes I am indeed Kurt Hummel. Seeing as you apparently know so much about me, why don’t you tell me a little about yourself Blaine.”
”Are you sure? I mean, Rachel is waiting upstairs for you. Wouldn’t want to keep her waiting right?” Blaine seemed slightly flustered.
”Rachel can wait, I’ve waited on her many many times. Besides, she failed to mention your existence, and now that I know who you are. I’d like to get to know you.”
Blaine blushed slightly, and nodded leading the way into the sitting room. “So, what would you like to know?” He asked slightly nervous.
”Where do you go to school, I know you don’t go to McKinley.”
”I go to Dalton Academy in Westerville. It’s an all boys private school, with an anti-bullying policy. Our dads sent me there right after middle school.”
”Any particular reason?” Kurt pried.
”Oh, uh-well, because… err… “ Blaine stuttered out.
”You don’t have to tell me if that’s too personal. I’m sorry.”
”No no, it’s just I uh, well I haven’t really had to tell anyone this in three years.” He paused briefly and took a deep breath before continuing. “When I was in middle school, I came out as gay to both my family and my friends in school. While my family is obviously extremely accepting of me, my friends and peers were not. The bullying started; it escalated, and after I took another boy to the Sadie Hawkins dance and got the shit kicked out of me. My dads and I decided that clearly public school was not the best option for me. I started at Dalton my freshmen year, and I’ve been there ever since. Dalton is in Westerville, and it’s a two-hour drive to get home, so I don’t come home most weekends. Which is why the weekends you have been here, you never saw me. I’m just going to assume that Rachel avoided inviting you over the weekends I was home.” He finished slightly out of breath.
”I just don’t understand why she never mentioned you before, you’re seemingly nothing to be embarrassed about. You’re polite, kind, well groomed, handsome, you have gorgeous eyes, and oh dear. Did I just say those things out loud?” Kurt flushed pink and rubbed the back of his neck. He heard a small giggle, and flushed further.
”You did, but it’s all right. I honestly have no idea why she never mentioned me, her and I are actually really close.”
”All this conversation is doing, is further confusing me.”
”Well, are you Rachel’s only other gay friend?” Kurt nodded “Maybe she didn’t want us to meet? You and I specifically. From what I hear Mercedes has a slight problem with keeping secrets, so I guess it makes sense she doesn’t know about me either.”
”But why would she be concerned about us meeting?” Kurt didn’t understand any of this, why on earth would Rachel have a problem with him being friends with her brother. She was dating his stepbrother after all, it isn’t like Kurt had instantly fallen in love with Blaine. Not that he wasn’t extremely attractive, because let’s be honest. The boy is hot as hell. Blaine seemed to read his mind, and said “It isn’t like I’d try to take you away from her on some super gay adventure. Not that I’m apposed to a super gay adventure, sounds exciting.” He winked and Kurt swooned internally.
”Well I don’t think that someone as fabulous as me would ever be able to turn down something called a ‘super gay adventure’.” He managed to giggle out.
”You know Kurt I really like you. You definitely seem like the kind of person I’d love to see more of. Even though Dalton is an all boys academy, which is practically heaven for people with bullying problems. There aren’t that many gay kids. I don’t have a single gay friend, but I think I just made one.”
Kurt smiled and nodded dumbly “I’d love that Blaine, here give me your cell phone.” Blaine reached into his jacket pocket, and pulled out his phone, handing it over to Kurt. Kurt typed in his name and number, and handed it back to Blaine.
”There, now we can get to know one another more, without Rachel prying in on us. Speaking of her, I should probably go up to her now. Seeing as I’ve wasted a good hour down here, shit an hour? Our latte’s must be cold by now, the girls will not be happy.” He sighed and got off the couch.
”I could go to the Lima Bean and get you more? I’ve got nothing to do until our dads get home anyways. Plus it gives me an excuse to scare Mercedes and Rachel.” He smirked slightly.
”Deal, but I’ll give you the money. I wouldn’t want you to spend your money on our silly latte’s.” He reached into his pocket to get his wallet, but his arm was stopped by Blaine’s hand grabbing his wrist.
”I don’t think so my friend. Think of it, as a present.”
”A present for what though?” Kurt asked puzzled.
”Just for being you.” Blaine’s cheeks turned a light shade of pink as he let go of Kurt’s wrist. “I’ll uh- go get those lattes now. Be back in about 15 minutes.” Blaine said after a few awkward moments. Kurt nodded shakily and turned on his heel to walk up the stairs to Rachel’s room. He turned the doorknob and stepped into the room cautiously.
”KURT HUMMEL WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN? YOU ARE AN HOUR LATE!” Rachel shrieked from her bed.
”Sorry guys, I had to make my dad dinner, and it took longer than I anticipated.”
“Where are the lattes? You never forget something that crucial. And how in the world did you get all those bags inside by yourself?”
”Actually Kurt, how did you get inside by yourself anyways? The door was locked wasn’t it?”
Kurt froze slightly, shit, what is he supposed to say? He can’t tell them he met Blaine already. “I-uh-err, nope it was unlocked. I knocked but you mustn’t have heard it, so I let myself in. Sorry Rach.” He sighed to himself, thank god for his acting skills.
”Not to worry Kurt, the fault was ours. We’ve been gossiping for the past hour while we were waiting for you.” She said somewhat snobbily. Leave it to Rachel to turn everything into a meeting.
He picked up his bags once again and moved them to the end of the bed; he and Blaine hadn’t discussed how he was supposed to act, when the lattes arrived. Was he supposed to act shocked, or was he supposed to just act aloof like he’d already known of Blaine’s existence? Damn them, why couldn’t they have planned ahead? But Kurt didn’t have time to further asses the situation, because at that moment. Blaine Anderson opened Rachel’s bedroom door lattes in hand, looking handsome as ever.
”Hey ladies, Kurt. Here are the lattes, sorry I took so long. I may have gotten myself a cookie…”
Kurt laughed, “I’m not surprised. You definitely seem like the cookie eating type.”
”Mr. Hummel, I am appalled at that accusation. One cannot simply seem like the type to eat cookies!” They shared a look and both burst into fits of giggles as Rachel and Mercedes looked on confused.
”Anyways, thanks for driving to the Bean to get us our lattes Blaine, I still think that you should of let me pay.”
”How about next time you can pay? Sadly though, I am not one for lattes. More of a drip man myself.”
”Deal, now if you will please leave us. We have facials to attend to.” Kurt said taking the tray of drinks from Blaine’s hand.
”Why of course sir. I live to serve.” He said dramatically as he left the room, leaving Kurt laughing once more.
”Uh, Kurt? How do you know my brother?”
”BROTHER? GIRL, You have some serious explaining to do.”
