Author's Notes: A/N So this is my first story...hi! I am an experienced writer, and I do post stuff on my Instagram (My IG is the same as my username here...) sooo yay!? Enjoy!?

There are things that many people do. People eat, sleep, go to the bathroom, but they mostly dream. Kurt Hummel is one of those people. He had big city dreams, aiming for the stars and wishing to see his name in Broadway lights. When his mother died when he was eight, he felt like he should do something to remember her by. It took three years to figure out what that would be, and then it finally hit him: baking. Elizabeth Hummel was possibly the best baker Kurt had ever known. Every Saturday morning, Kurt and his mother would get up early, Elizabeth coming in with a glass of milk and a cookie, and kissing her son on the forehead for him to wake up. They sat there as Kurt ate his cookie and drank his milk and talked, then went downstairs to bake a new recipe his mother had found online. Kurt loved this tradition because he got to choose what he wanted to bake, new and old recipes. When his mother died, his dreams to pursue Broadway were put on hold for a few years as he thought of doing something to still be connected with his mother. He wasn’t sure why it took him so long to figure out baking of all things, but he kept that in mind as he put his Broadway dreams back in front. They crumbled at his feet when he was eighteen and he didn’t make it into NYADA. He was broken, shattered, and his father did everything he could to cheer him up. He even took him to his favorite place in the entire world besides New York: Ocean City, New Jersey. His family went on vacation there after his father got remarried, and it was his best vacation since his mother had died. Kurt Hummel is now twenty five, and moved to New Jersey to open a bakery named Caddy’s. He named it Caddy’s after his mother’s favorite movie Caddy Shack. Burt and Finn had helped him move his furniture into the upstairs area where Kurt would be living, and Burt saw the sign and he couldn’t help but tear up a bit, remembering the laughs him and Elizabeth had shared when they watched that movie over and over for her. Kurt was standing there now, his best friend Rachel Berry standing next to him. They looked at each other and let out an excited scream. Rachel’s Broadway drams came true after she graduated from NYADA, but now both of their dreams have come true.

“Kurt, I’m so HAPPY for you!” Rachel squealed, throwing her arms around him. Kurt let out a laugh and jumped up and down with her.

“I’m happy to finally have this place! I saw it a few years ago and when I saw no one had bought it yet…I had to take the chance and take it!” Kurt beamed as he looked at the place in front of them. Caddy’s wasn’t opening until two weeks later. Rachel was helping him get settled in and hanging out with him for a while.  Kurt unlocked the door at the top of a pair of steps that led to the upstairs part of the home on the side of the house. He let out a sigh when he saw his furniture all settled in already, and he gave a smile as he set his cat carrier down. He opened it and pulled out the tiny gray kitten he had gotten as a house warming gift.

“She is such an adorable kitten.” Rachel cooed, rubbing the little kittens head.

“Ria is the best house warming gift ever, aren’t you?” he beamed, pressing a kiss to the kitten’s head and setting her down. She was grown enough that she was litter trained, and able to not destroy things while Kurt was downstairs working our out at the beach or boardwalk. Kurt froze a bit as he thought about that. When Rachel left, he’d be all alone. He’d be walking the boardwalk alone, and no one does that. He’d be alone on the beach, checking out the lifeguards by himself. He sighed a bit to himself, then smiled as he picked up his bag and unzipped it.

“What are you-“

“Beach day, honey, and I’ll be damned if we won’t be checking out any lifeguards,” Rachel let out a laugh and grabbed her bag, going to change in one of the three bedrooms. Kurt went into his room and smiled to himself, scooping Ria up and rubbing her head. “This is our home now, Ria. Don’t be messing it up, silly.” He murmured with a giggle, setting her back down and changing quickly. Ten minutes later, Kurt and Rachel were walking happily to the beach. It was only five blocks, and it was too hot for Kurt. Rachel on the other hand, was happy as could be, even in the ninety degree heat. They claimed their spot with a blanket and Kurt flopped down and used his shirt as a pillow.

“Ooooo Kurt hot lifeguard eleven o’clock.” Rachel purred, a grin on her face as she finished putting some sunscreen on her face. Kurt rolled his eyes as his friend was checking out lifeguards when they were there for two minutes. He glanced over and saw a blonde guy with nice eyes and a nice body, but wasn’t really Kurt’s type.

“He’s got a nice body, and eyes, but…not my type and probably straight.” He looked back over and Rachel and her mouth was gaping, and Kurt could see she was trying to form words. She started hitting his shoulder and he kept flinching away.

“Kurt! Kurt! KUUUUURT!” was all she managed. Kurt sputtered as he flinched away from her hand.

“JESUS Rachel wh-“

“Turn around. Now, like seriously, holy shit!” Kurt raised an eyebrow and turned around, and he immediately saw what the fuss was about. A guy with curly brown hair, tanned skin stretched over perfect muscles for his body size was standing there, laughing at something one of the lifeguards said. He had just the right amount of chest hair for Kurt, and the faint hint of a happy trail that Kurt just wished to touch…

“H-holy…shit.” Kurt sputtered, yelping as he watched the extremely gorgeous guy come closer and closer. He looked over and saw Rachel pulling him over and smiling at him. Kurt tried to free himself, but it was too late.

“Hi!” Rachel chirped. “We were just wondering when high and low tide were today.” The guy smiled and removed his sunglasses. Kurt took his eyes off his body and went to his eyes, staring into those beautiful pools of hazel behind his sunglasses. Kurt was a sucker for hazel eyes, so this made the guy even more attractive to Kurt.

“High tide is in about ten minutes and low tide is at one thirty-seven.” Oh, alright he has a really sexy voice in Kurt’s opinion, and he was pretty sure Rachel thought so too.

“Thanks! I’m Rachel, and this is Kurt.” When Kurt didn’t respond, Rachel elbowed him in the ribs and Kurt started sputtering.

“Oh! Um yeah ok, hi I’m- my name is- hi.” The guy laughed and shook Rachel’s hand, then turned to Kurt, shaking his hand and it was so warm.

“I’m Blaine.”
