He got his clothes from last night and took them to wash them. As he cleaned out the one pocket he found a folded piece of paper. At the sight of it last night came rushing back. Blaine had wanted him to text him. He put his clothes in the wash and went to grab his phone. He sat down and after a few minutes of wondering what he should do he text Blaine. After a few minutes he got a reply back. He nervously opened it to see Blaine asking to go for lunch with him. Kurt dialed Blaine's number and waited for him to answer.
“You couldn't tell me no through text?” Blaine asked when he answered.
“I didn't want to say no...”
“So, it's a yes?”
“Well, if it's not a no then it has to be a yes,” Kurt replied smiling.
“Yeah, I guess. Well then, give me your address and I'll pick you up in an hour.”
“Two hours,” he said and then gave him his address.
“An hour and a half.”
“Fine,” Kurt replied.
“I'll see you later then.”
“Bye,” Kurt said and hung up. Why was his heart beating so fast? Blaine didn't like him. He was straight he had girls all over him last night! He showered and got dressed for lunch. He wore his tightest pair of skinny jeans. He waited on his porch for Blaine to get to his house. When he pulled up he was in a different car. It was a simple black Honda. Blaine got out and walked up to Kurt. He was dressed casually in jeans and a dress shirt.
“Hey,” Kurt said.
“Hi,” Blaine replied as he sat next to Kurt.
“So, does every loser run after their race?” Kurt asked. Blaine started laughing and shook his head.
“Actually, I went to go see my brother after the race. He's in charge of everything.”
“What do you mean?” Kurt asked.
“Come on. Let's get lunch and I'll explain everything.”
“Sounds good,” Kurt said getting up and following him to the car. They drove down the highway for a few minutes until they came to a small diner. Blaine held his hand out to Kurt when they met up. Kurt looked at him confused and curious.
“Take my hand?”
“Why? You're straight.”
“No, I'm not. I'm gay. Did Puck not tell you?”
“No...”
“He told me almost everything about you. Finn did too...”
“I'm not surprised,” Kurt said as he took Blaine's hand. They walked into the diner and an old woman smiled at them. She led them to a booth in the back and gave them menus.
“Anything to drink?” she asked.
“The usual,” Blaine replied.
“Coffee, please,” Kurt said. She left them and Kurt turned to Blaine and crossed his arms.
“So, explain.”
“When my brother was eighteen, he started this little gathering of him and his friends. They'd race in their cars and race for money. Over the years it grew, and when I turned eighteen I joined the races. Cooper bought me my first car, an older Mustang, that we rebuilt together.”
“Puck said the Mustang you have now is from your dad.”
“It is. It was my birthday present. Cooper and I made it a little better.”
“So, is your brother ever there?”
“Sometimes,” Blaine replied. Their waitress brought them their coffees and they gave her their order.
“I'm in charge of Friday nights. If something happens I need to report to him. We haven't had a problem in the six years I've been with the races.”
“That's good...”
“It is. I hope it stays that way.”
“Not everything can be perfect forever...”
“I know...I'm just hoping it doesn't change,” Blaine said. Kurt sat back and looked over at Blaine. Puck made him up to be this jackass but Blaine seemed like a good person.
“Puck hates me because I've beaten him so much. But he's not in my gang so I can't help him out.”
“You have a gang?”
“Just me and a few guys from school. Jeff, Nick, Thad, David, and Wes. We've known each other for ten years now. We always race together. They work with my brother at his garage like I do.”
“Who were the girls last night?”
“Girls who show up to get laid. I haven't slept with any of them you think they'd take the hint.”
“Sometimes they're completely oblivious...” Kurt said.
“So, tell me more about you,” Blaine said.
“Well, I went to McKinley with Puck and Finn. When we graduated I went to New York with my friend Rachel. I went for a journalism major but nobody around here is hiring.”
“Can you work with cars?”
“My dad owned a garage so yes. Why?”
“I'll talk to Cooper. He can get you a job at his garage to tide you over until you find something.”
“You really don't need to do that...”
“I want to though. I work there too. I need to pay my bills and Cooper gave me the job.”
“Fine...”
“I'll talk to him later tonight then,” Blaine said. They were given their food and ate in silence.
“What about you? Can I get any details about your life?”
“I went to Dalton Academy with my gang. Went right to my brother's shop to work and went to college to be a mechanic.”
“So, that's your life now?”
“Pretty much.”
“I see...”
“I'd make time for other things too, Kurt,” Blaine said reaching over and putting his hand over Kurt's.
“We'll see,” Kurt replied. Later that day Blaine took him home and he watched him leave. He crossed his arms and sighed wondering what to do about him. Did he really want to get caught up in something that was illegal?
