The next morning Blaine got up early to make breakfast. He decided on making apple cinnamon french toast, his specialty. Sebastian had loved it and he hoped Kurt would too. Getting out the ingredients he would need he started to prep it. He set up the coffee pot and started to brew a pot. After twenty minutes of prep and cooking he set the plate down in the center of the table.
He heard the shower turn off upstairs and waited for Kurt to come down. He poured himself a cup of coffee and sat at the table. When Kurt came down he was dressed in tight black skinny jeans that left nothing to imagination. Blaine looked down and squeezed his eyes shut.
“What's this?” Kurt asked.
“A little thank you for yesterday...apple cinnamon french toast,” Blaine said. Kurt's eyes widened at the table. Blaine got up and poured a cup of coffee for Kurt and set it at his placing.
“Thank you!” Kurt said smiling. Blaine smiled back at him and they sat down to eat. When they finished Kurt left for the studio and Blaine got ready to go in. He gelled his hair back and and walked out and down the street. He was closer to the studio at Kurt's place than when he was at his own.
When he got to the studio Kurt was working on some music and writing down notes. Blaine sat next to him and looked down. He was reworking the song Blaine had written the other night and shown him. They discussed lyrics and Blaine finished the song off. Kurt worked on the music aspect and made a perfect beat for it. A few hours into their work a knock sounded on the door.
“Come in,” Kurt said. They were putting their work together when the door opened. Blaine looked up to see Leo standing above him.
“What is this?” he asked.
“Hi hon, just finishing up the new song.”
Blaine looked over to Kurt and back to Leo. He had dark brown eyes that unnerved him. Leo walked over and put his arms around Kurt and kissed his neck. Blaine looked away and sighed. He put the music away in his folder and got up.
“Blaine? Join us for lunch?” Kurt asked. He saw Leo flinch and shook his head.
“I don't want to to intrude on you two. Go have a good lunch together...plus I want to work through my break anyway,” Blaine replied.
“Nonsense, come on. Join us?”
“Kurt...he wants to get some work done. Let him go,” Leo said. Blaine ground his teeth together and walked out of the room.
“The least you could do is be nice,” he heard Kurt snap.
“Why? He obviously wants you...”
“Oh, come off it. He lost his fiance two years ago. He still wears the engagement ring. He's content where he is and I'm just trying to be a friend. He's had it bad and he needs some good people in his life...” Kurt argued. Yep...Blaine was just the poor broke boy that Kurt wanted to help. He bit his bottom lip and ran down the hall. He went down the hall to where Rachel's office was. He walked in and saw her and Quinn talking.
“Don't you know to knock?” Rachel asked.
“I'm...I'm sorry...it's just Leo and Kurt are fighting and I wanted to get away so they couldn't find me,” Blaine said. Rachel let him sit and she walked out and down the hall.
“He does this every time Kurt decides work comes before him. I don't like Leo and we've both expressed our feelings to him but he doesn't listen. He'd rather be unhappy than have somebody he deserves,” Quinn said looking at him.
“How bad does it get?” Blaine asked worried.
“Just loud shouting. Rachel always goes after them and tells Leo to leave or she'll call security. They're fighting over you aren't they?” she asked.
“Kurt asked me to join them for lunch...I declined but Kurt insisted and Leo went off...”
“Typical...” Quinn said rolling her eyes. Blaine looked out into the hallway and saw Leo walk by. He stopped by the door and glared at Blaine. Rachel showed up behind him and he took off. Kurt walked down the hall and into Rachel's office and sat down in her chair. She came in and closed the door locking it.
“Kurt...”
“Don't Rachel...” Kurt said crying. Blaine wanted to get up and hug him and comfort him but he couldn't.
“Listen to us for once Kurt!”
“I'm an adult Rachel! We're not in high school. I'll make my own decisions,” Kurt said getting up and leaving. Blaine jumped at the slamming of the door and looked at Rachel. She had her arms crossed and looked angry.
“Why don't you go back into the studio and try to work on the music. Kurt will join you when he's calmed down...” Quinn said. Blaine nodded and stood up to leave.
“Blaine?”
“Yes Rachel?”
“Please...get him away from Leo...”
“I don't know if I can Rachel...” he said and left the room. He walked down the hall to the studio and walked in. Kurt was sitting at his chair writing furiously. Blaine stayed by the door and waited for Kurt to acknowledge him.
“I know you're there...you're short but not that short. Get over here and sit down,” Kurt said putting the piece of paper away.
“What was that?” Blaine asked. Kurt looked at him curiously and then sighed.
“I write music when I'm fed up with Leo...they're my break up songs though they have never been recorded...nor ever spoken...”
“Why not?”
“I haven't had the urge to sing...”
“Why?”
“Can we stop with these games?” Kurt asked.
“I can sing them if you would like...”
“Blaine...as far as I'm concerned right now nobody knows you're gay. Singing about it is not exactly welcome...at least not until you're established...”
“I wouldn't be singing about it...change words...do something. Your writings deserve to get out there too,” Blaine said.
“I don't want them getting out though. They're not even good. They're just me rambling.”
“Poetry then?”
“Yes...you could say poetry...”
They finished up for the day and Kurt locked the music in the file cabinet. They walked to Kurt's car and got in to head back to his apartment. Blaine looked out of the car at the busy streets. When they finally got to the apartment Blaine left him to go to the bar. He sat down and ordered a beer. He looked at it cautiously but took a sip. The taste washed over his tongue like it used to and he took a longer drink. When he finished that one he ordered a second.
“Blaine? What are you doing?”
