Author's Notes: Song used is "The Other Side" by Evanescence! Thanks for reading!
The next week Blaine went back to school. Cooper said he didn't have to but he needed to. He needed to be able to be with Kurt. By Thursday he could tell people were talking about him. He got to the school before Kurt so he went to his locker and put his books in it. When he opened the door there in the back on his locker was a picture of him and his parents from a vacation last summer. He stared at the picture wanting to rip it from the back of his locker but fought himself not to do it.

“Blaine...?” a voice asked. He turned to see Kurt standing there with two cups of coffee and a bag.

“I forgot I have a picture of them in my locker...” he whispered.

“Are you going to keep it there?”

“I guess...”

“Why don't we go to the library and sit down?”

“Sounds good,” Blaine said closing his locker door. He walked beside Kurt and they went into the back of the library.

“I got you your coffee and biscotti,” Kurt said.

“Thanks,” Blaine said. He took his coffee and a biscotti. They sat in silence until the first bell rang for class. They made their way down the hall and Blaine left him to go to his math class. He took his usual seat up front and got his books out.

“Hey Blaine! How have you been?” Mike asked sitting down by him.

“I don't know...” he said honestly. Mike looked at him sullenly and then sighed.

“If you need anything I'm here...Tina is too,” Mike said.

“Thanks...” Blaine replied with a small smile. The lecture started but he barely paid attention to it. As the day went by he didn't focus and when he was finally with Kurt at lunch things seemed a little better. Kurt was looking at him worried though.

“How has your day been?” Kurt asked.

“Same as usual...” he replied.

“Mike told me you weren't paying attention in some of your classes...and that you've also been really quiet all day. That's not like you,” Kurt said.

“I lost my family Kurt...my parents. Do you expect me to be fine all because they're buried?” Blaine asked.

“They would want you to live your life like you always have. I know you lost them, I know you're still hurting but Blaine...you need to try and go back to the way things were before. You're a straight A student don't let this ruin that. You have so much potential...” Kurt said.

“I can't go back to the way things were Kurt...I have to leave for New York at the end of this school year. I have to live with my brother and remember that they're gone...try living with that. Try thinking about what it's like if they're both gone,” Blaine said getting up and walking out of the cafeteria. He went to his locker and put his books away and grabbed his coat. He saw the photo once again and ripped it out of his locker and walked out to his car.

“Blaine!”

He turned around to see Kurt running after him. He finished walking to his car and that was when Kurt caught up to him.

“Blaine...I'm so sorry. I'm being such an idiot. I don't expect you to be okay...not now. But I want to see you attempt to be okay. Please...I'm sorry,” Kurt said crying. Blaine put his stuff down and put his arms around Kurt.

“I'm sorry...I'm sorry for what I said. Kurt...I can't do this though...” Blaine said starting to cry.

“Please...don't say anything like that. You'll be fine. It'll take some time but it will get better,” Kurt said. Blaine pulled away and wiped his eyes.

“Blaine...” Kurt said taking the photo. Blaine didn't realize he had crumpled it up. He stared at it shocked.

“It's better off out of my locker...” Blaine said.

“I'll take it for now...why don't you go home? I'll tell them you went home sick...” Kurt said. Blaine nodded and picked his stuff up.

“Are you going to be okay driving home? You should call Cooper to come get you,” Kurt said.

“I'll sit for a few minutes before I go...” Blaine said. Kurt accepted it and walked back into the school. He sat there collecting himself for a few minutes. He started his car and started the drive home. He pulled into the drive way and made his way up to the house. He walked in and set his bag down.

“Laura please...my brother is still in his junior year and they have two months left. I really need to work from here. I'd rather him finish the year here. If there's any major meetings I'll fly over but...I'd rather be here right now...” Cooper said. Blaine walked into the living room to see Cooper on the phone.

“Why are you home? School isn't out yet...” Cooper said.

“I wasn't feeling good...” Blaine said.

“Oh...well go eat something light and then lay down for a bit,” Cooper said. Blaine shrugged and went upstairs.

“Laura...I can't leave. Come on! It hasn't been that long and...he's still upset and broken and I can't leave him yet or bring him. It'd be stupid,” he heard from downstairs. Blaine made it to his room and went to his bed and laid down. He closed his eyes and felt the tears take over once again.

“I can't take this...” he mumbled wiping them away.

“Blaine?”

“Yes...?”

“Can I come in?”

“Yes Coop...”

His brother walked in slowly and sat on his bed. Blaine looked up at him and sighed.

“Look bud...I got a call from that Emma...the counselor. She wants to see you tomorrow...everybody is worried about you Blaine. I don't want to see you like this at all. Also, if that's what it takes I'll find you a psychologist in New York that you can see,” Cooper said.

“I don't need one,” he replied.

“Yes you do! I've noticed the change in you and so has everybody else!” Cooper said. Blaine sat up and looked at him.

“I don't need help. I need to be left alone about it already,” Blaine said.

“You need something Blaine! I can't give it to you but maybe they can,” Cooper said. Blaine turned away and put his head in his pillows.

“Think about it...” Cooper said and walked out. Blaine cried for a while and then sighed. He needed to do something. He knew that much at least. He needed to either see somebody or try to pick up the pieces on his own. He fell asleep against his will and was woken by soft hands on his face.

“Hey baby...wake up.”

He looked up to see Kurt beside him.

“How are you feeling?”

“Like shit...” he replied.

“I'm sorry...”

“I know...so is everybody else,” he said. Kurt stayed until later that night. Blaine took him up to the music room and pulled out the sheet music he had made. Kurt sat on the chair while Blaine sat at the piano.

“I just started to play it so if something is off, I'm sorry,” Blaine said. Kurt nodded and let him proceed. Blaine started to play lightly at first and then building up.

“Make me whole again, open your eyes, taunted by the shadows of your light. Cold and far away, like you're not even mine. Undo everything and take higher!” Blaine left off and continued to play.

“Never believing what they say cause I'm...counting the days to meet you on the other side! I will always be waiting until the day that I see you on the other side...come and take me home...” Blaine sang. Normally it was a rock song with higher vocals but everything had to be worked around to fit his range.

“I'm not giving in...I want you back...holding together by the shards of our past. Stole my heart away...I can't let you go....break these chains and let me fly to you high above the world below. Over and over in my mind,” he sang. Kurt was looking at him heartbroken. He knew the lyrics and the meaning and he knew Blaine was breaking.

“Counting the days to meet you on the other side! I will always be waiting until the day that I see you on the other side...come and take me home...” Kurt started to sing with him.

“I am so lost without my place inside your heart...I won't survive I need to know you hear me...Awaken and release my love,” Blaine sang on his own. Kurt was sitting beside him now.

“Counting the days to meet you on the other side! I will always be waiting until the day that I see you on the other side...come and take me home...Counting the days to meet you on the other side! I will always be waiting until the day that I see you on the other side...come and take me home...” they finished together.

“Blaine...” Kurt started. Blaine looked down and then at the sheet music.

“Kurt...it's so hard. I don't want to go back there anymore...I want out of this house. I want to forget,” Blaine said shakily. Kurt hugged him and looked at the wall.

“Why don't you spend the weekend at my house? You'll be away from here and with me and Cooper can get things taken care of,” Kurt said.

“I'd love that...” Blaine replied.

“Hey you two...we need to talk,” Cooper said.

“What?” Blaine asked.

“Well...I need to go back to New York as soon as possible. You'll finish up these last two months and then fly out to New York...” Cooper said.

“So we can stay here until then?” Blaine asked.

“I can't though. That's why Burt said it's okay for you to stay with them until the end of the school year. Like I said though, you'd need to fly out to New York as soon as the year is done. The day before school ends this place is being sold. All of the stuff will be moved out to New York to a storage unit and we can go through it. That piano though is definitely making its way into my apartment if I get to hear you play,” Cooper said. Blaine smiled lightly and nodded.

“They got this for me for my birthday last year...it's a really good one. The movers better be very careful...” he said. Cooper smiled at him lightly and then nodded.

“They have special instructions so don't worry,” he said. Blaine turned around and turned the music around and got up. Kurt followed him but Cooper stopped him.

“Also...look at these. I was thinking we private school you again...unless you want to go to the public high school,” Cooper said handing him pamphlets.

“No...I want a private school,” Blaine said.

“York Prep looks good but you make the call,” Cooper said.

“Thanks,” Blaine replied walking away. They went to his room and sat there talking for a while until Kurt left. He got ready for bed and then laid down looking at the pamphlets. He decided to choose between two schools and put them on the side for later. For now, sleep was all that mattered to him.

End Notes: Well? What did you think?
