Author's Notes: Heart break guys. The song used is "Swimming Home" by Evanescence. Thanks for reading everybody!
The days went by in a blur and a few days later he was preparing for the viewing. Cooper had informed him the day after the news about the cremation and that the viewing would just be simple with family and when they got the ashes the next day they'd be buried. Blaine didn't listen to closely. He didn't want to break down again.

“I meant to also say no sneaking around. You know Kurt can't be there right beside you the whole time,” Cooper said. Blaine heard that though and it ticked him off. His head snapped up and he looked at Cooper annoyed.

“Why not?”

“You know our family does not approve and just because dad is gone doesn't mean their views are going to change. You're best to not have him there but I want him there for you if you need him, you know I do...I just mean...him and his family can stop by and pay respects but you and Kurt cannot be seen together,” Cooper said. Blaine looked away sadly and sighed. He fixed the bow and his tux and looked over at Cooper.

“Do you think they would even want me to sing?” he asked referring to the family and their parents.

“Everybody loves when you sing...and it's fitting. You know mom and you used to always sing,” Cooper said. Blaine walked out of the front door going to his car.

“Blaine! My car,” Cooper said.

“No...I'll drive myself,” Blaine said.

“Blaine! After how you've been lately I don't want you driving by yourself...” Cooper said. Blaine stopped at the door of his car and sighed, leaning against it a fresh wave of tears fell down his cheeks.

“Blaine...” Cooper said running his hand through his hair. Blaine went to his brother as he got closer and hugged him tightly.

“I'm sorry Cooper...” he said.

“Don't apologize...I shouldn't be hard on you right now,” Cooper said sighing.

“It's okay...” Blaine said.

“Come on...” Cooper said. Blaine reluctantly moved away and walked to Cooper's car, which was actually their fathers. Blaine looked at the car and hesitantly got in. He felt awful for the way he treated their parents when they home and here and alive. He had always been angry with his father and never spent enough time with his mother. He could still smell his father's cologne in the car and he closed his eye and put his hand up to his face.

“I'm sorry bud...I should have known you wouldn't like this car,” Cooper said.

“Just go,” he replied simply. They made the twenty minute drive to the funeral home. Blaine walked in slowly and did his best to not walk out at the sight of the room. In the front were two flower wreaths. Both were red roses, perfectly bloomed, just the way his mother loved. In the center of the display were poster boards with pictures of them. One was them on their wedding day. Blaine eyed the picture and how amazing they looked. His mother was beautiful in her youth, and always was to him. The next photo was them with Cooper, his first day home. The next contained a picture of them holding Blaine with a grinning Cooper next to their mom and a hand on Blaine.

“I picked out the photos from moms scrap books,” Cooper said. Blaine turned around to see him standing in the entry way to the room.

“I could tell...these were all her favorites,” he replied. Other photos were scattered around the board and the last one in the top corner caught his eye. It was from when he was eight. They had taken a trip to Cedar Point Amusement Park. He didn't get to go on the roller coasters but Cooper had taken him on rides to make up for it. His dad had even taken him on rides. It was one of his favorite days. One of the other photos showed Blaine and Cooper together. Cooper was in his Dalton uniform and hugging a five year old Blaine.

“It was my first day there...” Cooper said. Cooper was now next to him.

“I don't remember it...” Blaine said.

“You were crying because I was leaving. I was living in the dorms so I was only back for the weekends. I felt so bad for leaving you but dad wanted me there...” Cooper said.

“Well...you were always around and it just sucked to have to see you go I guess...” Blaine said. Other photos consisted of their parents honey moon, their anniversary pictures, vacations, and parties. There was a picture of Blaine sitting on his fathers lap. His father had a shirt saying “Best Dad Ever” like ever T-shirt said for Father's Day. Blaine couldn't have been older than seven in the picture. Where had that man gone in the next few years of his life?

“Hi...” a timid voice said. Blaine turned around to see Kurt, his dad, and Carol there. Blaine smiled lightly at them as they came in. Kurt hugged him tightly and then pulled away slowly. Kurt started to look at the photos. Blaine stood awkwardly as Kurt laughed at his baby photos and at his younger photos.

“You were adorable,” Kurt said. Blaine blushed and looked away. He gave Cooper a pointed stare and Cooper just smiled while talking to Burt and Carole.

“Cooper already told me little to no contact tonight...but if you need anything meet in the little private room down the hall okay?” Kurt said.

“Sounds good...” Blaine said.

“Am I still singing with you?” Kurt asked.

“Ask Cooper...” he said. Kurt did just that, explaining the song to Cooper, who looked at them worried and nodded slowly. Kurt came back over and took his hand.

“He said yes but to be very subtle with anything...I'm just playing the piano and backing vocals so he doesn't need to worry,” Kurt said. Blaine nodded and kissed Kurt's cheek.

“Thanks for being here...it means a lot. Good luck dealing with my family for two hours...it won't be pleasant,” Blaine said.

“Oh well...I'm here for you...not them. Let them say whatever they want, I don't care,” Kurt said. Blaine smiled at him and held his hand tighter. Right before six hit he let his hand go and Kurt kissed him good bye and took a seat in the back of the room by the second set of doors. Cooper came over to him and put a hand on his shoulder.

“Get ready little brother...I heard Grandma is first...” Cooper said.

“No...no...I can't deal with her Cooper. She'll start some stupid fight with me like always,” Blaine said.

“Sorry. I can't let you go. You know she'll just ask where you are and say you should be here and it's better to just get it over with,” Cooper said. And he was right, their grandmother was the first one there with her daughter, their dads sister.

“Hi Grandma,” Cooper said hugging her and kissing her cheek.

“Cooper hon, I'm so sorry. They didn't deserve this,” she said sadly.

“Hi Cooper,” their Aunt said.

“Hi Aunt Stacey,” he said hugging her. Their grandmother gave Blaine scrutinizing eyes and hugged him.

“Have you found yourself a girl yet?” she asked. Blaine bit his tongue and sighed.

“Grandma...this isn't the time or place,” Cooper said.

“Well he never calls and his parents never said anything,” she replied.

“That's because I'm...single,” Blaine muttered. She looked at him with disapproval.

“Find a girl now or you never will,” she said.

“Grandma, why don't you take a seat? Soon everybody will be here and you know they'll want to see you,” Cooper said. Their Aunt Stacey helped her to a seat and sat beside her. The New Directions had showed up to pay respects also. To his surprise Nick, Jeff, Trent, David, and Thad had stopped by too. After an hour and a half of shaking hands, hugging, and kisses from Aunts and Uncles, Cooper got their attention.

“Okay...you all may know that Blaine has an amazing voice and he's decided to sing a song tonight...his friend from school, Kurt, will be playing the piano,” Cooper said. Everybody took a seat or stood to the side. Cooper took a seat in the front row and Kurt made his way to the piano. Kurt started to play as Blaine stood in the front by his parents pictures.

“Way down, I've been way down underneath this skin waiting to hear my name again,” he started. He was no where near Amy Lee's vocal range but they fixed it to accommodate his voice.

“I'm sorry, nothing can hold me. I adore you still but I hear them calling and nothing can hold me,” he sang the chorus lightly. Kurt played slowly then picked back up. Nick, Jeff, Trent, David, and Thad had started an A Capella behind the piano.

“Way down, all the way down I will hear your voice but I'll no longer understand. I'm sorry, nothing can hold me, I adore you still but I hear them calling,” Blaine sang trying to hold back the tears.

“I was looking to the sky, when I knew I'd be swimming home and I cannot betray my kind, they are here it's my time,” he sang with Kurt harmonizing. Almost done and then he could leave the room. Kurt started to harmonize with him again.

“I'm sorry, nothing can hold me. I adore you still but I hear them calling and nothing can hold me...” Blaine and him finished singing and Kurt stopped playing, holding out the last note a little bit. When everybody looked down he bolted out of the room to the private room. He sat on the couch and let the new wave of tears take over. He couldn't take it anymore. They were gone and he never got to say “good bye” or “I love you” one last time and it killed him. The next thing he knew he was in Kurt's arms and Kurt was talking to him quietly. He couldn't even see them one last time and the last time he saw them was a month ago.

“Kurt...I can't do this...I need them. As much as I couldn't stand him he was still my father...and my mother...god my mother meant everything to me...” he cried into Kurt's chest.

“I know Blaine...I'm so sorry,” Kurt said rubbing his back. He looked up to see Cooper standing over him.

“Pretty much everybody left...I told them I'd be taking you home now. I'd let you go home with Kurt but tomorrow we need to be together...” Cooper said.

“Kurt...would you please come tomorrow? It's just going to be me and Cooper...” Blaine said. Kurt looked at his dad who nodded and Kurt turned back to him and hugged him tightly to him.

“Thank you...thank you so much,” Blaine whispered.

“Of course Blaine...” Kurt said. Kurt helped him up and let him lean on him out to the car.

“I'll go home and grab my stuff and be at your house in a while,” Kurt said. Blaine nodded and let Cooper lead him to the car. He got in slowly feeling more numb than before.

“Why Cooper?” Blaine asked quietly.

“It was their time Blaine...and something happened to the plane...more than likely something caught on fire and that's why it crashed. I'm sorry Blaine...you know I am and I'm doing what I can to help you,” Cooper said.

“I know...” Blaine said quietly. Later that night Kurt joined them at the house and they laid on the couch. Kurt got him up to his bedroom to try for a good nights sleep. Cooper agreed to let Kurt in Blaine's bed room and Blaine was happy with that thought. They laid curled up together, Blaine's head on Kurt's chest listening to his heart beat. He didn't know what he'd do if he lost Kurt too.

The next day came as quickly as the day before had. The night was plagued with nightmares though, about his parents, if he had been on the plane, if it had been Kurt. Last night was not a good night. He opened his eyes slowly to see Kurt sitting on the edge of the bed.

“Good morning,” Kurt said. He grunted in acknowledgment and got up slowly.

“Get showered and get dressed,” Kurt said. Blaine got up feeling life less and more tired than before and grabbed another suit from his closet hanging it up on the outside and he went to shower. After getting ready and eating they left for the funeral home. Blaine stayed in the car as his brother came back out carrying the poster boards with photos. They made their way to the cemetery and got out and walked the path up to the family plot. The small holes were dug and waiting to be marked with headstones. Kurt stood beside him holding his hand tightly. Blaine looked on sadly as the graves were filled. They were small...but it still hurt. They were only ashes but they were still burying his parents.

“Blaine...are you okay honey?” Kurt asked. Blaine shook his head and turned to Kurt who hugged him tightly. Blaine cried into his shoulder like feeling like a pathetic child. He needed to stop this.

“Why don't we go guys...the markers will be here next week. They're only small ones so we'll be back next week to see them when they're installed,” Cooper said. Blaine nodded and they were led back to the car...to reality. Now was the turning point. He would be starting a new life soon.
End Notes: Well...that was tough...another chapter might be up Sunday...until then let me know what you think! It'd mean a lot!

Gross sobs. Just. Wow. Ever family detail stabbed my heart with a rusty knife. And the warblers... Brb crying again.

The family details won't end here...I plan on dragging his pain out...to the end. I had to add The Warblers doing that..at least showing up and then the music thing struck me as an idea and I had to add it. Favorite part was writing the song in!
