Kurt blindly walked down the New York City street going absolutely no where. He made a right down the street to his apartment and stopped in front of a bar. He'd been to the place before but not for a while. And honestly, right now constituted a few drinks for him. He walked in and went right to the front where the bar was. He unbuttoned his suit jacket and sat down.
“What you want?” the guy asked.
“Just a beer,” Kurt replied. The bottle was handed to him and he took a long drink. He sighed as the cool liquid flowed down his throat. He wiped away at his eyes to clear the tears away. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a guy looking over at him curiously.
“What?” Kurt snapped. He felt instant regret as he saw shock and some pain in the strangers eyes. His eyes were a soft hazel color that probably shined with his smile. His hair was gelled back and he had a suit on. At this moment he was beautiful. Kurt wished the lighting was better so he could get a better look.
“I'm sorry, I just thought you looked familiar but I think I'm wrong,” the stranger said.
“No, I'm sorry. It's just been a bad day. I didn't mean to snap,” Kurt said.
“It's okay...you want to talk about it?”
“Not really. Especially not to somebody whose name I don't even know.”
“My name's Blaine,” he said holding his hand out to Kurt.
“Kurt,” he replied shaking his hand. Blaine's grip was firm but gentle with calloused fingers brushing against Kurt's smooth ones as they pulled away.
“So, you know me. What's bothering you?”
“Do you really want to hear about all of my problems?”
“Why not? I have plenty of time. I was busy today but now I'm not.”
“Today was supposed to be the best day of my life but...he stood me up. I walked out and ran right into him and his fuck buddy who was more important than me. I should be married and on my way out of New York for our honey moon but the asshole left me at the altar.”
“Wait...are you Kurt Hummel?”
“Yeah...”
“I was at your wedding. I went with my friend Andrew because his boyfriend had to fly out of town this weekend.”
Kurt looked over at the man surprised. He looked back at his beer feeling ashamed. Somebody had made the time to show up to his wedding that hadn't even happened. He didn't even know Kurt and he was willing to be there!
“I don't even know what I did for him to leave me. There was no sign at all...why didn't he just break up with me? I would've been okay...but no! He went and left me right before we were to be married! His family was there and my family and all of our friends...”
“Kurt? I'm sure you did nothing wrong. He just couldn't see how amazing of a person you are. Don't let him get you down. He was an asshole and I hope he suffers for leaving you like that,” Blaine said.
“Aren't you his friend?”
“Nope, just Andrew's. I heard a lot of good things about you though while Andrew asked me to join him. Don't worry...things will get better,” Blaine said.
“My luck though I'll be seeing their headline in the paper saying they're getting married.”
“Hey, don't worry about him. Move on with your life and live. Be happy. Go enjoy yourself. I'm sure you can get any guy you wanted.”
“Yeah...okay.”
Kurt finished his beer and ordered another one.
“I'm sorry you had to attend my wedding and leave because he was an ass.”
“Don't worry about it. I had nothing better to do and now I'm here.”
“Do you come here often?” Kurt asked and then laughed at what he asked.
“Trying to hit on me already?”
“No,” Kurt said smiling.
“But, yes, I do come here a lot. Mostly every Saturday.”
“I've come here once in a while. Mainly when I've had a bad day.”
“Yeah, same. Don't drink too much since you're going home alone tonight...”
“I'll try not to but this is one of those days that requires a shit load of beer.”
“It can't solve all of your problems though.”
“I want it just solve one...getting my mind off what happened.”
“Well, I'm going to take off. I'll see you some other time?”
“I can be here next Saturday...”
“Sounds good. See you then, Kurt. Take care,” Blaine said as he walked away. After finishing his second beer he paid and left. He walked into his complex and into the elevator. He waited for it to stop and walked into the hallway. He turned right and made his way down to his door. He opened it and walked in seeing all of his stuff mixed in with Ryan's.
He grabbed garbage bags from the kitchen and started filling them up with his stuff. After filling a few bags he put them out in the hall. He took the engagement ring out of his pocket and put it in one of the bags and tied it off. He closed his door and locked it up making sure to move the clip over so Ryan couldn't get in. He made his way into his bedroom and changed. He laid down on his bed and felt the hot tears fall down his cheeks once more. Why was his life so screwed up? Why was he the one who was left? Why couldn't he find Mr. Right?
