Another dream was to graduate college and make it big. He's been with The New York Times for a year now and he was rewarded on a daily basis from his managers. He's even had an article on the front page already! Kurt couldn't have been happier.
One last dream was to be married, legally, by the age of 30. However, that came a little early. He'd been preparing for this day for the past few months. The room was split in half. One half was for the ceremony and the other for the party. Between work and this he'd managed to not kill himself. Everything was perfect including the other groom. Kurt's boyfriend of 3 years had proposed last year and Kurt had been thrilled.
He stood at the altar waiting for his groom to join him. Ryan was tall like him with black hair and brown eyes. He'd been the perfect gentleman and besides Kurt's other three boyfriends before him, it was serious between them. He looked at the clock nervously. Five minutes. Five minutes until he would be joined by the most amazing man in his life. He looked out into the group of people who had been invited. There was Ryan's huge family who had all flown in from North Carolina to join them today. Kurt looked over at his father and Carole who were sitting in the front row. He looked at Rachel and Finn who were standing in the back waiting to walk up to stand by Kurt. Ryan's sister, Alana, and her husband were behind those two. Finn and Rachel had gotten married the year before when Finn came home. He was due to ship out in a month and Kurt had wanted to get married and make sure Finn was around.
The music started and he looked down to see Rachel and Finn walking. Rachel was clad in a blood red strapless dress. Of course it was made to fit her body perfectly and Kurt made sure it did. The same was said for Ryan's sister. Rachel and Finn joined him smiling at him and Rachel kissed his cheek. Alana and her husband, Zach, started up next. She looked apprehensive but still smiled nicely at the crowd. Alana kissed his cheek like Rachel and moved off to the side where they'd be behind Ryan. Kurt looked down to see his future husband.
He wasn't there though.
Kurt felt his smile drop as the music kept playing but nobody walking up. He looked at his father nervously. His father got up and ran to the back. Carole followed after him as he left the side of the room. Kurt looked back at Rachel who looked utterly shocked. He looked back to see his father walking into the aisle and shaking his head as he shrugged his shoulders.
“Alana?” Kurt asked looking at her.
“I'm sorry, Kurt...” she said. Kurt watched her as she walked away and Zach followed her. Everybody was now staring at him wondering what to do. He didn't even know! The little ring in his right pocket now felt like it weighed a ton. Now all he could feel was the pain in his chest. The heart ache of being left at the altar. After all of the planning and time and money he had been left. He looked at everybody sitting down. They were all murmuring to each other and looking at Kurt. He looked back at Rachel who was going to hug him. He pushed her arms away and shook his head and ran down the aisle and through the curtain to the other side. There stood Ryan in the suit Kurt had picked for him.
Another man was with him and had his arms around him and had pressed his lips to Ryan's. Kurt looked at them stunned. He didn't even know he had walked up to Ryan until the brown eyes looked into his and his hand connected with the smug face.
“You bastard!”
“Kurt...please, I can explain.”
“Explain what?! How you decided you would leave me on our wedding day?”
“I meant to tell you Kurt...”
“When? After we were married?!”
“No...”
“Then when?! Cause we were supposed to be married in twenty minutes!”
“Kurt...please...” Ryan said reaching out to him. Kurt moved back pushing his hands away.
“Do not touch me.”
Ryan looked at him sadly and then back at the other guy. Kurt didn't know who he was but that was okay. He'd rather not know.
“I'm not going to be the one telling them that the wedding is off. You do that since it's your fault,” Kurt said pulling the ring in his pocket out. He looked at the gold band and threw it at Ryan and walked out of the room completely and out of the building to who knows where.
Comments
It hasn't been long since Kurt was left at the altar, right? Asking Kurt out for dinner soon after talking about his own relationship, especially where he held some hope of getting together with his first everything.. Even if Kurt was in a good place, that would seem a tad ill-timed.
Hmm...if I'm correct, I'm the author I should be right, then this is about three weeks after everything. That's not enough time to get over what happened...but Blaine is one of those, in my eyes, "who doesn't think before talking and blurts whatever". Lol. But also, Blaine knows he's lost his first everything and needs to move on. I don't mean to come off snotty in this, i'm just saying. Lol. Thank you for reading the story! :) I hope you read on!
I'm really enjoying your story, and I kind-of love the fact that Kurt is still very hesitant about everything. I know that Blaine is so completely adorable, but when someone gets hurt in the way that Kurt did, it can take a lifetime to feel secure in a relationship again. Looking forward to more :)
Thanks for reading! I'll be updating tonight! :)
Poor Kurt ... so scared of falling in love again. Give in to the curls, kiddo ... they are your friends ;)
Lol. The curls are the best part! XD Thank you for reading!
