Kurt unlatched the door slowly and opened it to peek out at the person standing there. There Blaine stood in a black and white cardigan with gray jeans on. Kurt took in his appearance trying to steady his breath and eventually looked into the gorgeous hazel eyes.

“Are you okay?” Blaine asked breaking the silence. Kurt shook his head and looked down.

“Can I come in?”

“Sure,” Kurt mumbled and opened the door and let him in.

“How did you know where I live?”

“I may have...kind of followed you one night? I saw Sebastian leaving and thought I would venture here eventually.” Blaine said shyly. Kurt giggled a little as he closed and latched the door.

“I know you may not want to see me now...”

“Why wouldn't I?”

“After the other night and you walking away on me...”

“I'm sorry about that...I didn't expect it. I was...stunned.”

“I'm sorry about that though. I just want you to know that.”

“I know.”

“So, are you going to tell me what happened that you look like you were hit by a truck?”

“I didn't want to,” Kurt replied. Blaine sighed and looked down at the ground.

“Will you tell me?”

“Sebastian and me fought at the studio when I got out of rehearsal. I told him when we got back here that there were people there to see me. I had the chance to get the lead role in a new musical and his little bought of anger cost me,” Kurt said.

“Do you know for sure that it cost you?”

“No. But! I know it did. Nobody would take me now because of that. I'm surprised I still have this job,” Kurt said crossing his arms.

“I'm sure you'll still get the lead. Just give it time and if you see them apologize for his behavior and move on,” Blaine said.

“You make it sound so easy,” Kurt said a little to bitterly.

“It could be. Depends on who you are as a person. Come on, why don't we go walk New York City?”

“Why?”

“We can talk while we do. I just want to get to know you again. I want to know who you really are,” Blaine said. Kurt smiled and nodded and grabbed his keys.

“Fine. Let's go,” he said letting Blaine out and then locking up. They traveled out into the warm summer air and walked down towards the bar but went right past.

“What do you want to know?” Kurt asked.

“Why you didn't let Sebastian go and stay with him...”

“Why should I? I have had enough of his over bearing ways and I just think it's best this way. We can grow independent and who knows what will happen to us. Friends is the best for us right now though,” Kurt said. He looked over to see Blaine staring ahead lost in thought.

“Are you okay?” Kurt asked. Blaine nodded and looked down as they walked. They stopped at a bench and sat down. Blaine's hands were folded in his lap. Kurt was wringing his hands together nervously.

“I'll be fine. Just thinking about the past.”

“Like what?”

“When I was assigned with you. I never had a kid like you after I left you. I was always happy to see you but the other kids I was with...some of them were ungrateful little asses. I haven't seen any of them since...you're the only one I've seen so far as an adult,” Blaine said.

“How did you know it was me?” Kurt asked.

“Your eyes...”

“Really?”

“Really. You have beautiful eyes Kurt, they're unforgettable,” Blaine said smiling lightly until shock crossed his face as he realized what he said. Kurt looked at him smiling and reached over to take his hand in his. Kurt shivered at the touch and Blaine stiffened. Blaine's hand curled around his gently and smiled over at him.

“I should get back to my apartment,” Kurt said quietly. He didn't ask to keep holding Blaine's hand but they walked hand in hand down the quiet street. When they got to his building Blaine stood in front of him and looked into his eyes worried.

“What?”

“Could we possibly...I mean...”

“Go on...” Kurt said smiling at how Blaine was acting so shy.

“Could we maybe meet for dinner?”

Kurt's breath caught in his chest and he looked down thinking. It was too soon! He had just broken up with Sebastian earlier in that day! But, he looked into the soft hazel eyes and nodded. Blaine smiled and leaned in. Kurt expected a kiss but then arms enveloped him and he sighed lightly. He put his arms around Blaine and smiled. Blaine let him go and looked down shyly.

“I'll see you tomorrow. Just text me and let me know when you're out of rehearsal and I'll meet you at the studio,” Blaine said as he walked away. Kurt nodded and turned and walked into his building. He walked into his quiet apartment dreading the thought of sleeping alone every night now. He latched the door up and went into his bedroom to change and sleep.

When he sat on his bed he looked at the photo of him and Sebastian together in Central Park. Their friend had taken it for them and gave them each a copy. Kurt framed his instantly and put it on his nightstand. They both looked so happy and carefree. He picked it up and put it in the drawer. Eventually it would come back out but the wound needed to heal over first. He'd always love Sebastian but it was time to move on. Maybe, just maybe, they could stay friends and support each other.

All he knew as he laid down was that he couldn't wait for tomorrow. He couldn't wait for what they're dinner would be like. Kurt felt himself falling a little more for Blaine as he fell asleep smiling.
