“What's wrong with you Kurt?”

“What?”

“Something's wrong...your eyes aren't lighting up like they always used to,” Blaine said. Kurt admired how Blaine could still recall everything after all of these years.

“I'm fine,” Kurt said biting at him and looking away. Blaine was still looking at him with those big puppy dog eyes though. Kurt sighed and looked back at him.

“My life has been a living hell...I was bullied all throughout high school. I went after one of them into the locker room and he kissed me. He threatened my life and walked away after I pushed him away a second time. He wouldn't leave me alone after that,” Kurt choked out. It had been the scariest time of his life and was so happy to be done with it.

“One day, my dad saw one of them and he asked me what was going on. My step brother found out too.”

“Go on...”

“My dad and step mother managed to get me into an all boys private school call Dalton Academy. I spent my last year of high school there. I wasn't bullied and I wasn't pushed around. I was even the lead of their Glee club, The Warblers, along with Sebastian.”

“Who's Sebastian?”

“We were friends...we're boyfriends now.”

He saw the light in Blaine's eyes die slightly at that. Honestly, Kurt didn't know where he'd be if it weren't for going to Dalton and meeting Sebastian. Sometimes he wonders and can't tell because it could have been that bad.

“What else happened?”

“I got into my school of choice, which was NYADA, and now I perform on Broadway. I'm making my debut in a very popular one in a week.”

“Which one?”

“Wicked.”

“I've wanted to see it since I got here.”

“It's amazing. My favorite ever. The only problem is my friend Rachel, who went to high school with me for a while and eventually NYADA, is also in the play and she's acting like she's in charge. She's being pushy and keeps stalling us. I get home later than I should and Sebastian is worried. He wants me to take a break for a while after this.”

“Well if you're tired then you should but if you'll manage then you should go on.”

“I don't know. I already told him I'd take a few months off to be with him this summer.”

“Do what makes you happy,” Blaine replied smiling. Kurt sat in silence not replying because he didn't know what to do.

“I'm really sorry for everything that happened to you...I wish I could have been there for you along the way,” Blaine said. Kurt looked up at him searching his eyes.

“I know...” he replied.

“So, you and Sebastian...how long have you been together?”

“Seven years now...”

“Wow. You two must be pretty committed, huh?”

“We are...I could never see myself with someone else...but lately...we've been fighting because I'm working later, going to bed late, and waking up early.”

“Well, you do look tired.”

“I know...and once rehearsal is done and we actually do our test runs I won't be out so late in the evening. I'll be able to actually sleep comfortably.”

“Work on that,” Blaine said smiling. They sat in silence and drank their coffees. Kurt was thankful for the silence to think about things.

“Why don't we go for a walk?”

He looked up at Blaine surprised and nodded not even thinking and just agreeing. They threw their cups away and walked out into the city. They turned away from Times Square and walked down a less busy street. Kurt kept his hands in his pockets not trusting himself to not grab Blaine's hand like when they were younger.

“So...what did you do after you left me?”

“I was assigned to a girl whose parents had just died and needed somebody. After I was done with her I was allowed to live my life. I haven't been assigned in years. So I came here.”

“Wise decision. New York City is amazing.”

“That it is.”

Kurt didn't realize it but they had come to his apartment building. He looked up at it gloomily. A hand touched his arm and he felt electricity shoot through him. He looked down at the hand which was retracted instantly from him.

“Sorry...you just looked upset,” Blaine said.

“Don't apologize,” Kurt replied smiling. He inspected Blaine closer than before. He had grown but he was still shorter than Kurt. He had filled out nicely though with nice broad shoulders. He clearly worked out. Kurt smiled and then heard a throat clearing. He looked up at Blaine's face with a blush creeping across his cheeks. Even his face had changed. More angled and masculine than when they were kids. But those eyes and the wild curls were the same, his favorite features of Blaine.

“I should probably go...” Kurt said.

“Can we meet up again?” Blaine asked.

“I don't know how busy I'm going to be for a while...I don't want to make a promise I can't keep. But I'd love to.”

“It's okay. Here's my number. Call it if you want to talk or text me even...” Blaine said. Kurt took the piece of napkin that had his number scrawled on it in beautiful script. He smiled and walked into his apartment building and up to his apartment. He expected Sebastian to be there but he wasn't. Kurt swallowed the lump that had formed in his throat. He put the phone number on his coffee table and went into the bathroom and showered. He laid down on his bed ready to sleep but his mind kept racing with thoughts...of Blaine.
