Kurt moved closer to the body next to him and snuggled against it. He loved being able to wake up like this in the mornings. He yawned and Sebastian kissed his cheek.
“How are you feeling?” Kurt asked.
“I have a splitting headache...”
“Maybe you shouldn't have had so much to drink last night.”
“I didn't!”
“Uh huh...”
“Anyway, let's get ready to go out. I managed to get us an early table at Marseille.”
Kurt yawned once more and got up. He went into the bathroom and showered. He dressed casually and made his way down the stairs and into the living room. Sebastian was all ready to go, sitting on the couch. Kurt came up behind him and kissed his neck.
“Ready?”
“Yep,” Sebastian said smiling and getting up. They locked hands and made their way out into the city. They walked for a few blocks just happy to be together. They made their way down to Marseille and got seated quickly.
The lunch was spent with wine and simple dishes. Kurt finished his salad and looked over at Sebastian. Sebastian smiled up at him and finished the last of his dish. Sebastian paid for the meal and then they set back out into the bustling city streets. They walked down the street that held the Gershwin Theatre. He smiled up at the sign as Sebastian squeezed his hand.
“Come on...the weather is amazing so let's go sit on the steps,” Sebastian said. They walked down into Times Square and made their way to the red steps. They managed to get to the very top and they sat together. Kurt leaned his head on Sebastian's shoulder and smiled contently. The time dragged on as they sat there talking quietly until Sebastian once again brought up his work.
“Kurt?”
“Yeah?”
“Please...do whatever it takes to get Rachel to stop interrupting the practice. I can see black bags under your eyes. You're too stressed. Get them to fire her or something.”
“I can't!”
“Get the cast behind you! They'll support you.”
“She's Elphaba! The main person in the story! We can't lose her now.”
“They need to do something though. Kurt, you're going to end up sick and putting yourself in the hospital.”
“I'll be fine. Don't worry about me!”
Kurt turned to face him and put his hands over his neck. Kurt leaned in and kissed him gently.
“I am worried though. You walk the streets tired every day. You're going to do something one day and hurt yourself.”
“No, I'm not! Why can't you stop this?”
Kurt stood up glaring down at Sebastian. Sebastian looked up at him sadly. He crossed his arms and spoke next.
“I'm fine! I will be fine! I can deal with this for the next few weeks. I thought you would be proud of me accomplishing so much already...” Kurt said. Sebastian stood up and put his hands on Kurt's arms.
“I am! I'm so proud of you.”
“No, you're not! You want me to quit the musical! That's not being supportive.”
“I will always support you and your dreams you know that!”
“No...I don't want to stay. Forget tonight. I'll see later or tomorrow. Oh, and just to let you know I'll be at the rehearsal studio tomorrow. So don't babysit me.”
Kurt saw the hurt look on Sebastian's face but he turned and walked down the steps anyway.
“Kurt!”
He ignored the voice and kept walking. He made his way down the street not caring where he was going. He ran blindly into people getting glares from them but he didn't care. He walked down a street away from the crowd and leaned against a wall. He rubbed his eyes and the tears streaming down. He collected himself and looked up to see the coffee shop he loved so much.
He walked in and ordered a coffee sitting at their table. He looked over at the empty seat that usually contained Sebastian. He thinks back on an easier time. When he didn't have to be an adult and all he can think of was when he was a kid. He had that imaginary friend that nobody believed in. They thought he was making up because his mom was sick. Kurt looked down at his coffee and sighed. He wished he could have those days back when he had Blaine. The little curly headed kid with those big hazel eyes always made him feel better.
The boy was everything he would want in somebody. Caring, loving, and always putting others above himself. The boy had helped him through his darkest times when his mom was in the hospital. He spent his birthday with him when his mom couldn't be there that first year of treatment.
The bells on top of the main door rang and he looked up. The man with those curls walked in. Kurt's jaw dropped and he looked stunned at the man. He looked away when the guys head turned his way. He mentally scolded himself for being such an idiot. He didn't see the guy walk over to him and he looked up surprised. The man was gawking at him with his eyes wide. Kurt felt everything in him melt away. All of his problems, Rachel, work, and even Sebastian.
The eyes sent shock waves through his body. They were so familiar yet so different to him. They held warmth and happiness and love. He tried putting the pieces together but nothing came out.
“Kurt?”
“How do you know my name?” he asked quietly.
“It's me...Blaine. Blaine Anderson.”
“Who?”
“I was assigned as your imaginary friend when you were six? I was with you until your...” Blaine stopped there and looked at him sadly. Kurt looked at him dumbfounded. There was no way in hell that this was him.
“No...you're lying.”
“No, I'm not. You and I used to go to the park and swing all of the time. Then you would do see your mom and I would be beside you the whole time. I was there that last day. And a few days later was your birthday and I had to leave...I got reassigned.”
“No...”
“Kurt...it is me. I swear.”
Kurt looked into the hazel eyes searching for the truth. He found it and realized it was him. Kurt felt the tears slide down his cheeks. This was the boy, now a man, who had been by his side for two years. The one who knew him inside out, until he left. Kurt remembered that part and put his walls back up around him.
“Do you know what I went through when you left? My dad took me to a child psychologist once because I was so depressed...I only went once thankfully.”
“I'm so sorry...if I could have stayed with you I would have in a heartbeat!”
“Do you say that to all of them?”
“What? No! Kurt...please...I'm so sorry for what happened. I didn't plan to do it then but protocol called for it,” Blaine said. Kurt saw the man's eyes were red and puffy. Tears were slidding down his cheeks. Kurt looked down at Blaine's outstretched hand and wanted to hold his hand like he did when he was younger. Blaine and him used to be so close...best friends! Until he left.
“Why should I trust you now? Why should I talk to you. You'll only leave again.”
“No. I won't. I'm kind of done for now. I was given freedom for a while. So, I came to New York City. It's been amazing.”
“How long have you been here?”
“A few months.”
“Are you staying for good?”
“I don't know.”
“How are you feeling?” Kurt asked.
“I have a splitting headache...”
“Maybe you shouldn't have had so much to drink last night.”

Sebastian is pissing me off. And that whole blaine kurt scene heart my heart):
Why is Sebastian pissing you off? I actually wanted to make him a decent guy who just cares for Kurt. And the Blaine and Kurt scene was cute wasn't it? :)
yay! they finally meet!!! cant wait to see how this unfolds!
Lol!
He was his imaginary friend, How is he there now? Can other people see him now? or how does that work? And he gets older too?
It's a really complex thing to explain. I based it off a James Patterson novel. He was a kid with Kurt, but imaginary because he died young. People can see him when he really wants. He ages too! :) I hope this helped! I can explain it more if needed!
