Author's Notes: Angst!!! :D
Blaine stirred a little; he’d been having trouble sleeping that night. Something felt off to him and that was when he heard it. He opened his eyes slowly. It sounded like someone was trying to get into the apartment. Getting up slowly, so he wouldn't disturb Kurt, Blaine threw on a shirt and opened the bedroom door quietly. Closing the door behind him, he continued down the hallway to the living room. He slid the light switch up to low. He watched the front door – it jiggled. Someone was trying to get into the apartment. When the movement stopped, Blaine chanced a look around the living room. Behind the one table stood a baseball bat; yep, that would work, he thought to himself. Then, the door opened. His heart stopped as he peered into the darkness. And then, he walked in.

“What do you want?”

The man looked up at him. An evil smile spread across his face.

“You didn't listen to me. You were supposed to come home.”

“I'm never going back there. You don't accept me or Kurt so I won't go back,” Blaine replied to him; his father. Blaine moved closer to the table, to the bat, as his father walked towards him. Almost there…too late. His father swung out at him. Blaine barely got out of the way as his father’s hand clashed with a vase sitting on the table. It fell to the floor rather noisily and shattered. Blaine prayed that Kurt didn't hear it, but knew that the chance was too slight. Moving again towards the bat, Blaine felt something grab his leg and he fell forward, hitting his head against the sharp corner of the table. Grasping his head in pain, Blaine rolled onto his side and heard the bedroom door open.

“Kurt! Don't!”

~

Kurt stretched and moved his arm to put it around Blaine but found nothing but air. He opened his eyes and saw that his companion was gone. Kurt managed to hear talking out in the hall. Straining his ears, he made out that the conversation didn’t sound pleasant. He got up, put a shirt on, and opened the drawer to his nightstand. Silently digging through it, he found what he was looking for. He got up and walked to the bedroom door. Kurt heard a bang and looked out to see Blaine on the ground. Moving as quickly, but silently as possible, Kurt moved up behind the guy who was going after Blaine, and then cracked him on the back of the head. Kurt watched the intruder crumple to the floor. He let out a slight gasp when he saw it was Blaine's father. Looking over to Blaine, Kurt saw that he was holding his head and had a look of pure shock on his face. Kurt ran to Blaine and helped him sit up against the wall.

“Are you okay?” Kurt asked him. Blaine moved his hands away from his head and looked at Kurt.

“I will take that as a no,” Kurt said. He touched the bump on Blaine’s forehead gently. Blaine winced when he did and pulled his head away.

“How bad?”

“Well you definitely have a nice lump on you. It's turning black and blue and there's a small cut,” Kurt said. Kurt got up and went into the kitchen. He came back with a bag of frozen peas and placed it gently on Blaine's forehead. Blaine winced when Kurt pressed it lightly against the bump. Blaine took the bag from him and held it himself.

“Now answer me...where did that come from?” Blaine asked pointing at Kurt's hand. Kurt looked down at the pistol still in his hand.

“I got it for when I was living alone. I kept it hidden in a drawer so nobody would know I had it. I never told you because I was hoping I'd never need it. I never used it until tonight,” Kurt said. Kurt got up and called the police. Blaine had a throbbing headache at this point. He put his head on his knees and held the frozen peas to his forehead.

“Thank you. I've never been so shocked with you before. I just hope we'll never need that again,” Blaine said, pointing at the gun. Kurt nodded and sat by Blaine putting his arms around him holding on tightly.

“How are you feeling?” Kurt asked worried.

“Like hell,” Blaine said.

Kurt took Blaine's hand and waited for the police to get there and the EMT's. When they finally did the EMT's were with Blaine in an instant. Kurt stepped back. The police asked him about the pistol in his hand. He got them the permit to prove it was legal. He told them what he saw and they said they were taking Blaine to the hospital to make sure he didn't have a concussion. Kurt grabbed his car keys and watched as they took Blaine out on a stretcher. Kurt was still shaking a little from what had happened. Blaine's father was then taken out. Kurt walked over to the coffee table where his wallet was. He saw the paper they had printed out with houses highlighted. They had seen them all earlier in the week. Kurt put the paper down and finally left the house. He'd clean the broken vase up later.

Kurt sat in the waiting room for a while until the doctor led him back to Blaine. He looked at Blaine who was sitting on the bed looking down. Kurt walked over to him and put a hand on his back.

“We gave him medication for the headache and did a scan. He has a slight concussion but he'll be okay. He has medication but there is still the possibility he will get nauseous, dizzy, and headaches for a while so keep your eye on him for a bit,” the doctor said. He handed Kurt the prescription and said goodbye to them.

“No offense but you look pretty bad,” Kurt said.

“Gee...I didn't know,” Blaine replied.

“Sorry...”Kurt said.

“It's fine. I'm sorry. Are you okay?” Blaine asked.

“I don't know...just shaken I guess, and worried about you,” Kurt replied to him. Blaine gave him a hug and Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine's neck.

“You weren't hurt and that's all I care about,” Blaine said.

“But you were and it hurts me knowing you were,” Kurt replied.

“I'm fine so you shouldn't be worried. Come on...why don't we head back home,” he said.

“We're getting the deposit down on that house. We need to get out of that apartment,” Kurt said.

“Agreed. The sooner the better,” Blaine said. Kurt took Blaine's hand and they walked out of the room. Kurt opened the door for Blaine and closed it when he got into the Escalade. Kurt then got in and they drove back to the apartment unwillingly. Kurt opened the door and let Blaine in first.

“Why don't you head to bed?” Kurt said.

“No...I need to clean up the vase.”

“I'll take care of it. You go to bed. You need your rest,” Kurt said.

“Kurt I'm fine. I'll just sit up and wait for you anyway so I'll sit on the couch.”

“Go to bed Blaine...I mean it. Don't fight me with this. Just do me a favor and go to bed.” Kurt said.

“Whatever...” Blaine turned and walked up the three stairs and down the hallway. Kurt sat on the couch and silently cried. He didn't mean to be mean to Blaine right now. He knew he was hurting just as much. What scared Kurt the most was knowing Blaine's father actually tried to hurt them like he said. Blaine had gotten hurt and he felt responsible for it. Kurt curled up on the couch and put his head on his knees. Kurt got up and finally cleaned up the broken pieces of the vase. He put them in a plastic bag and then into the garbage. He made his way slowly up to the bedroom and opened the door slowly. Blaine was sitting on the bed anyway still awake and looked up at Kurt. He could tell Blaine had been crying and his heart sunk more. Kurt walked over and sat by him on the bed.

“I'm so sorry Blaine...I didn't mean to sound the way I did,” Kurt said. He could feel a tear slip down his cheek. Blaine reached a hand up to his face and wiped it away.

“It's okay...I understand you're upset. I'm sorry too.”

“For what? I was the one being a complete jerk to you and knew you were hurting as much as I was,” Kurt replied to him.

“I'm just sorry. Sorry you had to go through this tonight. I was so scared of him hurting you,” Blaine said. Kurt moved Blaine’s hand off of his face to kiss the tears away.

“Don't be sorry. It's over with now and let's just move on from it and move from this place,” Kurt said. Blaine smiled and laid down. Kurt laid down by him with his arm around Blaine's stomach and kissed him on the cheek gently and put his head on his shoulder.

When Kurt woke up he stretched and sat up. Blaine was still asleep beside him and he got slowly so he didn't disturb him. He made his way into the kitchen to the coffee pot and put a pot on. He waited there for the coffee to finish until Versace came up to him whining. He smiled and knelt down to pet her. He stood back up to get a cup for himself and Blaine. When he felt arms wrap around him he gasped and smiled. Blaine kissed him on the neck and bit lightly. Kurt felt the shiver go down his spine.

“Stop...I'm not doing anything until I know you're okay,” Kurt said.

“I'm fine...come on you know you want to,” Blaine said teasingly. Kurt smiled and shook his head.

“Nope...why don't we look through the list of houses and decide on one today?” Kurt suggested. Blaine rolled his eyes and sighed.

“I guess so, but you owe me big time,” Blaine said.

“I owe you nothing. You need to stop getting worked up and then expecting something you aren't getting,” Kurt replied. Blaine just smiled at him and shook his head.

“If you weren't such a tease then maybe I wouldn't be so worked up but...you tease,” Blaine said walking into the living room. Kurt followed him in and sat on Blaine's lap facing him and kissed him.

“Teasing you is fun though,” Kurt pouted. Blaine smiled and put his hands on Kurt's waist.

“Not fun for me...” he said locking his lips back to Kurt's. Kurt laughed and pulled away.

“I love you.”

“I love you too,” Blaine replied and started kissing Kurt again.
