“I was looking for you...” she said.
“Oh? Why's that?”
“Blaine called me and told me you started flipping out on him. What happened? What did your mother do?”
“My mother? Why is everybody assuming this is my mother's fault? She didn't do anything! This is you and Blaine!” Kurt growled. Erica looked at him with hurt evident in her eyes.
“What? We didn't do anything...” she replied. Kurt just rolled his eyes and shook his head.
“I keep finding out things about you two! I let them go because they're explained to me and they're nothing! But, this one? I cannot let it go! It may have been years ago but we've been together so long!”
“What are you talking about?” she asked.
“Your little trips? Yeah, I know Erica. I don't know who you were before your change but Blaine? I'm honestly surprised with him!”
“What little trips? Kurt...I really don't know what you're talking about...”
“Playing dumb now? I really thought better of you!” Kurt hissed.
“Look, you're acting like a child, sit down and explain to me what's going on.”
“No! I'm done talking because nobody wants to talk to me and tell me anything! I have every right to know! I deserve to know but you two kept it from me!”
“Because you're a brat! You're selfish and childish! You just want to keep him all to yourself and you never let him breathe!” she hissed back but then her face fell. Kurt saw the regret in her eyes but it didn't matter now. He was done with them. The pain of those words cut like a knife...one he'd taken for Blaine once before. He sighed and closed his eyes trying to hide that pain.
“Get out! Now! Get packed and get out! I don't want to see either of you two again!” Kurt hissed at her. She wrapped her arms around herself and nodded. She ran up the stairs and into her room. Kurt sat on the couch and let fresh tears fall. How could Blaine do that to him!? And Erica! He heard her leave and then he looked up from where he sat. The house was eerily quiet and he got up to get his phone. There were messages from Blaine on his phone. He deleted them all and went back to the couch
The doorbell rang and Kurt looked up confused. He walked over and opened the door revealing two familiar faces and a smile broke across his face.
“Kurt!” they said in unison. They tackled him and hugged him tightly. Kurt laughed and hugged them back.
“How are you two doing?” Kurt asked as he pulled away. He let them in the house and closed the door.
“Fine! We just thought we'd come see our two favorite guys!” Jeff replied.
“Yeah! We wanted to surprise you!” Nick added. Kurt looked down and crossed his arms.
“What happened? Is Blaine okay?” Jeff asked concerned.
“Blaine...he...we're done...”
“What? Why?” Nick asked. Kurt moved to the couch and sat down. They sat on each side of him and he told them the story. At the end they both hugged him. Neither of them knew about it and they were just as shocked as he was.
“Then again, Blaine and Erica were inseparable for a while. Blaine told us when he went to Rio...he said it was where him and Erica first really realized how much each meant to the other. But then he met you and I figured they were only friends,” Nick said.
“I don't know what to do...I told them both to leave. I might pack up and move too. I don't want to stay in this house much longer...” Kurt replied.
“I don't blame you...” Jeff said. They stayed there that night and the next day they took off because they were only passing through. Kurt saw them off and then called his mother. She came over and sat with him.
“I want to leave...” Kurt said.
“Of course, honey. I'm going to go out and get a few things. I'll be back in a little bit,” his mother said. Kurt nodded and laid down on the couch. The pain in his chest intensified. It wasn't just his own pain and he remembered the bond. It still connected him to Blaine.
“I relea-”
“No!”
Kurt jumped up and looked behind him to see his mother. He looked at her confused and wondered why she wanted him to stop.
“Why?”
“Because, you know he's safe and he knows you are. Right now that's all that matters. And, maybe you two can meet up once more before you leave...” she replied. Kurt looked away from her and nodded.
“Fine...I'll keep it. But once I leave and I'm far enough away...I'm severing it.”
“Understandable...but until you're safe somewhere else, keep it,” she said as she kissed his forehead. She left the house and Kurt laid back down. He cried once more, wishing Blaine were back here, holding him. He quickly washed the memory away and curled up with a pillow.
“He's probably holding Erica...she's all he wants,” Kurt muttered.
“Elizabeth? Did it work?” the man's voice drawled out as she walked into his office.
“It did...they're separated. He wants to pack up and leave tomorrow,” she replied. The man was older, tall, and well known by their kind. He had jet black hair that he gelled back and ice blue eyes. He was burly and very strong.
“Good...two of my men will be there to retrieve you at his house. Will the other come for the boy?”
“Yes, he will. Kurt's his one weakness,” she replied.
“Great...I'll be cured of this curse soon enough. You'll get your freedom too...there will be enough for you.”
“Thank you! I can't wait for this life to end...will there be enough for my son?”
“What do you mean?” the man asked.
“He doesn't deserve this life. He was young and rash when he made the decision...for love,” she spit out, “I just want him to be happy...the best thing would be for him to have some also...” she replied.
“We'll see. I cannot promise anything. I come first,” he said.
“Of course. I'll head back now. We'll be ready at eleven,” she said and spun on her heel and left the building. A smile etched across her face. As far as she was concerned she'd be the only one drinking that damn serum and getting her old life back.
