A few weeks later Kurt was bringing the last box into the house that they had bought. He had one side of the house to himself while Quinn and Rachel had the other. He moved his boxes into his room and started to sort through them. His father and Carole had wanted to fly out and help but he'd gotten them to stay away.
Rachel had put the label and building up for sale and it helped put the down payment on the house. Kurt had gotten some money from it and had helped with the down payment. He opened up the box with his little trinkets and pulled out the picture of him and Blaine. He sighed and put it on his nightstand and sat on the bed.
He pulled out Blaine's CD he'd gotten. He didn't plan to but he'd wanted to hear the songs and he never used free downloads. He opened it up and put the CD in his laptop. He looked at the pictures in the booklet and smiled at them. This Blaine seemed happy and looked like he was loving what he was doing. He started the CD as he unpacked his clothes and put them away. The CD was mainly breakup songs and some other ones. Blaine had done a cover of The One That Got Away from Katy Perry. It was a stripped down version but it was really good. One was a love song and Kurt adored it. When he finished unpacking a few hours later he stopped playing the CD. Suddenly, Rachel burst into his room with a huge grin on her face.
“We have front row tickets to Blaine's show!”
“How?”
“Well, I told the sellers who I was and who I was going with and then I also got backstage passes.”
“Why would you get backstage passes?!”
“Oh, did I say passes? I meant pass. For you. You're going backstage and you're talking to him.”
“No. I draw the line there. Don't make me do this.”
“Oh, but I am. Come on, Quinn went out to grab pizza and movies.”
Kurt rolled his eyes and followed her out into the living room. She plopped down on the couch and he sat on one of the chairs alone. She put the TV on and the nightly entertainment show was on. Kurt didn't pay attention until something about Blaine came up. They were talking about his tour and talking to him. They had video of him walking around with his still rumored boyfriend. Blaine or him hadn't confirmed and Kurt was silently hoping it wouldn't be confirmed.
“Most of the songs on this album are breakup songs and there's some love songs. Everybody loves them though. What was the inspiration behind Forever?”
“All of the songs have love in them it's just hidden. But, uh, the chorus of Forever was spoken to me by someone and when I was upset after things ended the song came to mind and I wrote it down.”
“Have you ever been in love?”
“Yes...still am. Love is one of my biggest inspirations but heartache has been too and to have been through both brings out the best writing in me,” Blaine replied. Kurt felt his heart stutter and his breath catch.
“Who are you in love with?” the reporter asked, flashing him a smile. Kurt bit his tongue willing himself not to say something out loud in front of Rachel.
“I'd rather not disclose that.”
After that the interview was boring. Thankfully, Quinn finally came back with two large pizzas, a bottle of wine, and a bag with DVD's. She placed the pizzas on the coffee table as Rachel went into the kitchen. She came back with paper plates and wine glasses. They all took a piece of pizza and started to eat. Quinn poured a glass of wine for each of them and picked hers up.
“To a new life in Cali...away from New York.”
“To your career!” Rachel said.
“Here's to us!” Kurt said. They all clinked their glasses together and took a drink. Quinn put in one of the movies and they all sat back and relaxed. Every movie was about losing the one you love but finding them once more and falling back in love. In movies it was possible but he knew he wasn't getting Blaine back in this life.
