Author's Notes: Very quick introduction into their lives. The chapters will be longer from here on out! :)
Kurt and Rachel both went to school in New York City and completed all four years. They missed Ohio though. It was who they were. They went back after little success and she came up with an idea.

“I have a way we can work together and still bring in good money,” she said. They were out for coffee one day when she started with this wild idea.

“And what would that be?” Kurt asked a little intrigued. He didn't know if it would be any good but he hoped it would be.

“A coffee and bakery shop. We can both work it and open it and see what happens. My dad's actually came up with the idea and they proposed it to me. They said they found the perfect place and are willing to help us out,” Rachel said. Kurt propped his elbow on the table and rested his chin in his hand. The idea wasn't that bad!

“I like this idea! Let's go see this place and talk about it!” Kurt said. They saw the building the next day and were in love. Kurt loved the kitchen. He'd be able to bake many items in it and he could use all of the recipes he had from his grandmother and mother. Rachel and him decided to do it and within the next few weeks they were getting everything cleaned and ready to go.

The name was one thing they couldn't decide. Rachel was being cheesy but one name did ring with him. Berry Sweet. Rachel said they should focus on healthy foods, including vegan items. Kurt couldn't complain but some of the items were expensive. As opening time came closer and closer they decided on Berry Sweet. It was simple and not that tacky. He went with it though since Rachel's dad's had some help with the name and helped buy the place.

Opening day was decent. Rachel focused on the coffee and he focused on the treats. They had a decent flow of customers and did good for their first day. And it got better as the summer went on. They had opened at the perfect time and were near a few businesses too. Him and Rachel were stressed but they managed to run it all on their own.

They had their regular customers and knew all of their orders by heart. There was one regular customer Kurt liked but he had always kept his distance. Rachel always encouraged him to go for it but he couldn't. He watched the guy from afar with some other guy until the other one never showed up with him again. Kurt thought maybe one day he'd actually talk to this guy more but he probably wouldn't.
