Kurt, where have you been? The guests are leaving and you should have been here to thank them and say goodbye.“ Burt said as he finally found his son.
I'm sorry dad, I went outside like you told me and lost track of time.“ Kurt said. I'm going to go find the guests that are leaving now.“ he added and looked over to the door where a few people stood.
Yes, you should do that.“
Kurt went over to the door, and stood there as the guests walked out, thanked them for showing up and smiled politely.
Yes, thank you for coming, I'll be sure to have my father be in touch with you about that-“
Well, Mr. Hummel.“ a soft voice said behind him. Don't I get a goodbye?“
Blaine stood there, beautiful as ever.
Blaine, um, please just- yes, thank you for coming- can you meet me outside in a moment?“ Kurt said pleadingly, barely getting a chance to even look at him because of the guests who were eager to get to him to say goodbye.
Okay. I'll meet you at the same spot as before?“ Blaine said and turned away.
After countless goodbyes and forced smiles Kurt finally got out.
There you are, I thought you'd changed your mind.“ Blaine said as Kurt found him.
I didn't come here for anything like that, I came to tell you that this,“ he gestured at them both, is not going to happen.“
Why not?“ Blaine asked softly.
Because...because, I just can't Blaine. I'm a prince. This is not going to work, I should have found a princess by now but I spent all evening thinking about y- other things and this just- this just won't work. I can't let my father down like that.“
Why do you worry about your father?“
Listen, I can't do this. Now, I have guests I must tend to if you'll excuse me.“ Kurt said and strode away, avoiding to look back.
And so the days went by. Days turned into weeks and suddenly there were two months since the ball.
Kurt? Your father would like to talk to you.“ Rachel said through Kurt's door.
Tell him I'll be down in a minute.“ Kurt replied. He finished his nightly moisturising routine and went downstairs to meet his father. When he saw who were standing next to Burt he froze.
Kurt, this is Sugar Motta and her father, Al Motta, I believe you two have met before.“ ha said and gestured at Kurt and Sugar.
Um yes, hello, you didn't mention we were having company.“ Kurt said and looked down at his bathrobe and slippers.
Well, Mr. Motta has something he would like to discuss with you.“
Oh all right, what is it?“ Kurt asked.
I'd like you to marry my daughter.“ Mr. Motta said bluntly.
What?
No way.
I'm honoured, Mr. Motta but don't you think that's a bit-“
Your father and I have already spoken and we agreed that this was an ideal solution.
You agreed to this?“ Kurt asked his father surprised.
You need a queen Kurt,“ Burt said, and Mr. Motta brought up this idea. He said you two had quite the good time at the ball.“
So, Mr. Hummel, do you have an opinion about the date or should we let the wedding planners think about that?“
I- I...wow.“ Kurt said gracelessly, suddenly realising that he couldn't escape.
Kurt Hummel, the very much gay man was getting married to a girl.
Fantastic.
Daddy, you're going to get me a pretty dress, right? And I'll get to wear a tiara?“ Sugar asked her father.
Of course sweetie, anything for you.“ Mr. Motta replied. He turned to Burt and Kurt. I guess it is settled then. We will be in contact soon.“ And with that he left.
Two weeks later Kurt had a ring on his finger, a symbol of the miserable past awaiting him. A simple golden band with engraving on the inside.
I can't believe it. I can't believe my father would agree to this.“ Kurt said as he fixed the pillow behind his back and took a sip of his soda.
Well, he's probably just doing this because he loves you. He really does want you to be happy, you know.“ Rachel replied with a marshmallow in her mouth.
This won't make me happy, I barely know this girl, but judging by the short encounter we ad, she's not very pleasant and now I have to spend the rest of my life with her?“
It's not always about whether you like her or not Kurt. Your dad is right, you do need a queen and maybe this really was the best solution.“
It's not fair.“ Kurt said and buried his face in the pillow.
I know Kurt, I know.“ Rachel said, stroking his back comfortingly.
It was raining outside when Kurt and his family arrived at the Motta's huge house. The formal engagement dinner was being held tonight and everyone important in the neighbourhood were being invited.
There were guests everywhere, some of them Kurt recognized from his ball, but some he'd never seen before. It wasn't long before Kurt had somehow managed to lose Burt, Carole and Finn.
'Well I guess I could do some of the Thank you yes we're very happy together“ talk with the other guests now' he thought to himself. It didn't take long for people to spot him and soon everyone were eager to talk to him and congratulate the 'happy' couple. He was just talking to Mrs. Hartman when he saw curly, dark hair. He quickly excused himself and walked in the direction he had seen the head move.
'No, this can't be Blaine, can it?'
But there he was.
Blaine Anderson was at his engagement dinner.
