Author's Notes: Again, a little short. Sorry, but again, these started out as short stories. I promise after chapter four, everything will be longer.
Quinn was ready for him before he was around the corner.

"Kurt," she greeted cordially. Quinn was cordial to everyone. Unless they really pissed her off. In which case they should back the fuck off. And probably go somewhere far away where it would take Quinn a while to find them. And Quinn would always find them; there was no doubt about that.

"Hi. You said you'd help me," Kurt said hopefully. "With the-"

"I remember what I said," Quinn cut in smoothly. "But you have to remember what I said; that I can't control what I see. It just comes to me. You may not get what you want."

Kurt nodded. "I just need to know if Blaine and I will be ok. I don't want him to-"

"Find out about the Sam thing," Quinn interrupted again. "I understand. Blaine can be a little hot-headed at times and I get that you want to avoid a confrontation because it was one-sided. But," she lowered her voice, "you may need to remember again that things like this don't stay hidden for long. They always come out in the end."

"I know," Kurt agreed. "But hopefully by that time I'll have worked out what to say so he won't go after Sam straight away. I don't want to cause a fight."

"I know you don't," Quinn sighed, sounding wistful. "You're the only around here who doesn't. Well," her tone changed to abrupt. "Apart from Brittany. But Brittany has the innocence of a child so she doesn't really count."

Quinn held out a soft, manicured hand and Kurt took it. She focused and then suddenly she wasn't there in the school hallway anymore. She was inside a mechanic's shop. It took her a second to realise where she was, as she had only been there once before when she was visiting Finn. Hummel Tires and Lube.

She saw Finn's step-dad – Kurt's dad of course, she thought – come out of a small office and into the main room, cleaning a wrench with a rag. Suddenly he froze and frowned. His hand moved to his heart and he clutched over it tightly. He shuddered and Quinn's horror grew as she watched the wrench fall to the floor with a clatter and Kurt's father began to hyperventilate and then, not two seconds later, followed the wrench onto the floor, jerking around like a puppet. A heart attack, she recognised.

And then she was back, staring into Kurt's expectant face.

"So," he said. "What did you see?"

Quinn had a decision to make. She knew better then anyone the consequences of meddling with time. She had done it herself in elementary school and it had ended with the death of an innocent classmate (and the mental and emotional scarring of another) – an incident that she would never, ever forget. Quinn knew that when it was someone's time to die, it had to happen, otherwise the balance of life and death would be disrupted and events that were set securely in time would be altered. It was safer for everyone just to let things lie. No, Quinn decided. She could not tell a soul. It hurt her to lie to Kurt, someone she genuinely liked but she knew that with a power such as hers, she could not play favourites. In her life, everyone else came first.

She looked at Kurt directly in eye now, the blank look gone in an instant, replaced by a rueful smile. "You're going to pass your French exam," she told him. Which of course he would. Kurt was the best at French.

Kurt laughed shakily. "Of all the things to see," he sighed. "I'm sort of relieved I don't know though, in a way. Is that weird?"

Quinn shook her head. "No. It's normal. But you know," she said, "I think you and Blaine are strong enough to get through anything anyway. You don't need me to tell you that everything will be alright."

A soft smile appeared on Kurt's face and he answered quietly. "Thanks Quinn. That means a lot."

"I know," Quinn whispered.
