Kurt Hummel sighed as he woke up on another gloomy November morning. It was ten o'clock Saturday morning and, all Kurt wanted to do was lay in bed all day. But, he knew he had to get something constructive done otherwise he'd feel as if he wasted the day. He dressed quickly in a pair of skinny jeans and white t-shirt accompanied by a Marc Jacobs sweater. He decided to go get some breakfast to bring upstairs.

Finn was sitting at the table with a stack of pancakes doused in syrup on his plate. Kurt grabbed a plate from the cupboard and placed a couple of pancakes with margarine on it and made his way to the table.

"Morning Finn." He sighed as he sat down. He eyed his almost step-brother disapprovingly as he shoveled another forkful of sticky pancakes into his mouth.

"Morniph 'urt" He said. Kurt just smirked and shook his head as he cut off a piece of his own pancake.

"Where's my dad?"

"Oh, he's in the basement watching the game." Finn said once his mouth was empty. The phone rang suddenly, belting out a shrill ring. Finn leaped to answer it.

"Leave it Finn, my dad already has it." Kurt said as he took another bite of his pancake.

"Kurt, are you alright? Ever since last week you've been really quiet." Finn said, a worried look crossing his face.

Last week in Glee Club, Quinn and Sam had broken up. This event had lead the glee club to preform a mash-up of Love Song and Vegas Skies which had lead the entire glee club to become all lovey yet again. Kurt loved everyone in glee club, but being the only gay guy in the group got really boring in those type of situations.

"Finn, I'm fine. I'm just...I dunno. I don't wanna talk about it." Kurt sighed.

"Man, we're almost brothers now. You can trust me."

"Finn. I don't want to talk about it." Kurt snapped.

"Okay well..If you do...talk to me okay?" Finn said as he awkwardly hugged Kurt on his way to put his plate away. "I'm gonna go play some video games. Wanna come?" He asked.

"Not today Finn, I'm gonna re-organize my room." Finn shrugged and left the room.

"Boys, we need to have a talk" Burt said emerging from the basement. "Carol!" He called. "Guys, go sit in the living room."

Once everyone was assembled in the living room, Burt looked at everyone.

"Okay. So, remember last week in the newspaper there was that article about that private school burning down?"

"Dalton Academy?" Kurt asked. Burt nodded as he fixed his hat.

"Yeah. Well the school is in total ruins and the students all need to find new schools to go to. I was just on the phone with the principal of Dalton. There's a boy named Blaine Anderson who can't return to his old school for some reason and, he needs a place to stay so he can go to McKinley." Burt explained

"So, you offered our home Burt?" Carol asked.

"Yes. We have a spare room next to Kurt's and, I thought this would be a good thing to do for the kid."

Carol smiled at Burt. "Of course, that's perfectly okay."

"Good. He heard from lord knows who that we were an accepting and friendly family and, that's exactly what the kid needs right now. Also, boys," He looked between Finn and Kurt "the guy went back in to rescue some kids who were trapped but, a falling beam hurt him so, he couldn't save a few. Please be nice to him."

"That's terrible." Gasped Kurt. He felt bad for the boy. To have risked your life to get others safe only to be injured and prevented from rescuing the rest would have killed him. Kurt felt immense sympathy for the stranger.

"Wait so, I'm going to have another brother?!" Finn smiled.

"No honey...He'll be more of a friend living with us. He has a family. He's not a stray dog..." Carol sighed.

"Okay well, he's going to be here around twelve so Kurt, that gives you about an hour and a half to clean up the guest room, if you could" Burt said looking at his son.

"Of course dad, i'll go start on that right now." with that, Kurt left the room and went to the guest room.
________

About an hour later, Kurt had moved the futon to the adjacent wall leaving more space for it to be pulled out into a bed. He had wiped down the TV and all the other surfaces that were covered with dust. He changed the bedding to a rich blue bedding on the folded up bed, left green and white pillows on either side of the futon for when night time came around. He took the majority of the clothing out of the closet and back into his own room and, he sprayed air freshener through the room.

Once he was done with that he went in his room and changed into a light blue shirt with black skinny jeans. He threw on a charcoal vest with a deep green bow-tie and a pair of black Doc Martins He fixed his hair in the mirror making sure it was perfect.

He sat back on his bed pondering. He wondered what Blaine Anderson would be like. Would he be quiet and shy? Would he be really loud like Noah? Would he be short or tall? Would he be a nice person? Would he play for Kurt's team?

When the doorbell rang, Kurt jumped up from bed and collected Finn. The two made their way downstairs to hear their father talking to an elderly man outside. Kurt could see a glimpse of dark, gelled back hair just before his dad opened the door wider to let the man and the younger boy in.

End Notes: okay, the next chapter will be up right away because I really want it in Blaine's POV.

Wait so, I'm going to have another brother?!" Finn smiled. " no finn. you're not going to have another brother. but a future brother-in-law? maybe; but time will tell. normally i hate finn, but i'm really liking him here.

I actually have Dalton burning down in one of my fantasies (never to be written, I hate writing.) I am interested in your take on it but this story seems to have been abandoned.

Hey! I'm so sorry about it not being updated. I've explained the whole thing in the upcoming chapter update... If you don't want to continue reading, I understand though.
