Author's Notes: This chapter is set in the time of 9/11. please take that in mind while reading.
On the morning of September 11, 2001, Blaine and Maggie Anderson said good-bye to their mother as she left on her annual business trip. It was five o’ clock in the morning; way earlier than Blaine wanted to get up before another day of boring first grade. “Be good sweetie. Don’t cause too much trouble at school this week. And I’ll be back before you know it,” Lisa Anderson said as she hugged little Blaine. “Don’t worry mom. I’ll be good. I promise.”
The two siblings and their father watched out the cold window as their mother pulled away for a week of no kids and all work.
“Blaine, why don’t you go back to bed for a couple more hours?” Brad Anderson suggested as he yawned.
“I don’t know if I can. I miss mommy already,” Blaine said as he yawned and stretched.
“Don’t worry little man. Mommy will be back before you know it.”
