“We had it all, we were just about to fall even more in love than we were before, I won’t forget, I won’t forget, about us”
Kurt went to bed that evening and once again he cried himself to sleep. “What am I going to do, dad?” he asked his dad an hour earlier. “Buddy, I really don’t know, maybe in the old way of doing it: winning his love over.” Kurt thought about this going to bed and then he thought about the way Blaine use to love him. This led to the crying.
The following morning Dave got up real early and set up some pictures of Blaine’s past, which he got on the internet, around the hotel room. He wanted Blaine to see the pictures of Dalton, New Directions, and pictures of where Kurt and Blaine sang at Regional’s, just after their first kiss. He hoped this would “refresh” Blaine’s memory. So when Blaine finally woke up, Dave had breakfast ready. “What’s up with the photos of Dalton and a random group of teens and that Kurt guy and me on stage?” Blaine’s memory was triggered by the latter image. It flashed in front of him. The beautiful auburn-haired boy in his school uniform singing Candles with him. “Blow the candles out, Looks like a solo tonight and I’m beginning to see the light...” Is this a memory? He couldn’t tell Dave about this. “O, it’s just some memory exercises I put up for you. The nurses said that I should do this.” “Okay! Yum, the breakfast looks delicious! Did you make it?” “Yes, I hope it’s edible!” Blaine began eating. Then when he put the toast in his mouth, something sparked up in his mind. Why did this toast taste so familiar yet so different? Dave saw the spark in Blaine’s eye. “What is it Blaine? Do you remember something?” Should I tell him? Blaine panicked! “Yes, this toast tastes familiar. I know that’s a funny thing, but yeah!” Dave planned it like that. “O! This is the way Kurt taught me to make toast in Home economics way back. I’m glad you like it!” That triggered something in Blaine. Breakfasts at Kurt’s. Fruit, toast, eggs, juice and coffee. Those memories woke the remembrance of Kurt. “I have to see Kurt!” He was surprised by himself and the words he just spoke. What would Dave think? Dave was shocked. He expected Blaine to remember some time or another, but not so soon. Kurt wasn’t out of love with Blaine yet. He had to keep Blaine a while longer. “Why? Do you remember something?” Blaine knew he couldn’t keep it inside. “Yes, I do remember the stairways at Dalton, Pavarotti, “Candles” and the first kiss.” Blaine knew that day was the day he and Kurt got together for life. “I need to see Kurt now!” Dave panicked. He didn’t want this to happen so soon. “Kurt is not in New York anymore! He went back to Ohio two hours ago!” Blaine saw the lie in Dave’s eyes, but also hurt. He got up and pulled Dave in for their first hug. “I’m terribly sorry, honey. I don’t want anyone else but you! Kurt is nothing.” Dave breathed a breath of relief. He knew what he did was wrong. Dave pulled out of the hug and went to sit down at the television. The day carried on, Dave was calmer, but Blaine couldn’t forget about Kurt. Kurt haunted his mind and every time he thought of Kurt his heart fluttered and raced. He was in love with Kurt Hummel. Again or still? He didn’t know, but he had to make plan to see him again.
