“The judge’s decision is final, mister Hummel.” How could they just let him go for $200? He took away the man he loved. Kurt wasn’t sad, he was angry, livid and offended by the way the judge thought that this story was light and puny. There was nothing he could do about it. Just hope that Blaine got better. There was one other thing, the judge ordered Dave to see Blaine in the hospital. Kurt didn’t want to experience how Blaine would be all lovey-dovey with the guy he hated. He thought Dave has changed but he never did! So he went to the hospital and stood outside the door and watched the action in the room. He saw how Blaine’s face lit up when he saw Dave. This almost killed him, but he continued to watch. During the 15 minutes he saw that Dave was uncomfortable, but it also seemed as if he enjoyed the attention from Blaine. When he saw Blaine got up and gave Dave a loving hug, he drew in a sharp breath. He couldn’t watch anymore. He walked away feeling scattered and dead inside.
Dave was in two minds about this whole story. He did this to get to Kurt and thought that maybe if he and Kurt did something “more”, Kurt would fall in love with him. When he got the tipoff that Kurt got the police involved he knew he had to something to spite Kurt. He didn’t think hitting this Blaine-guy over the head with a vase would do that much damage. He was uncomfortable with this guy’s, which he barely knew, sudden love for him. When the nurses told him that Blaine would be discharged sometime soon, he got the idea. He was sorry for hurting Blaine and spiting Kurt, so he knew he had to do everything possible to help Blaine to remember, or even to fall in love with Kurt again. He hoped in the time being Kurt would fall out of love and that at the end Kurt would fall for him, because of the way he was helping Kurt and Blaine reunite. He asked around the hospital for ideas and ways to help Blaine and eventually he got a few easy but effective ways. The day Blaine got discharged, Dave saw Kurt in the hospital. He was looking tired and lonely. All he wanted to do then was to hug Kurt and tell him everything would be okay. But he couldn’t.
The past three days Kurt was dying slowly but surely. His father called him several times and Kurt cried all the time. His father said that he was coming to New York and that he would be there in a couple of days. The day Blaine got discharged it killed him knowing that Blaine was going home to Dave. That Blaine was happy with Dave and that Dave enjoyed every moment of it. The smile Dave gave him when he walked past him at the hospital on that day. It looked like a sad smile, but actually it was sarcasm. His dad arrived an hour after Blaine was discharged, so he met his dad at the hospital. Since his dad knew about the whole story, Kurt was glad to see his father and just sob his day by in his father’s arms. His father said that he booked a flight for them back home in a week’s time. Kurt wanted to stay here, but Blaine wasn’t with him, so he agreed.
