He sits and stares at the dull grey walls. His mind is filled with terrifying bloody images. Slowly, he lowers his head into his hands and closes his eyes, letting the memories flood through his mind.
He sees the guys first. Trying to see what is happening, he lets Kurts hand fall from his own. The first thing he sees is one of the men throwing a punch to the opposites gut, who starts to cower away. Blaine doesnt even realise he is shouting until he is finished, "Hey! What are you doing?"
Kurt is standing behind him, watching it all play out, wishing that Blaine wouldnt get involved, that he wouldnt get hurt. He tugs on his boyfriends arm, a small and quiet hush escaping his lips, "Blaine, please dont."
Blaine turns back to Kurt momentarily before hearing a loud bang, followed by a quiet clunk. Its loud and shocks Blaine, hurting his ears. He takes a few seconds to react before realising that it was a gunshot and that someone got hurt. Another few seconds, and he realises that he isnt hurt.
Realisation hits him like a tonne of bricks, and then a body hits him like a tonne of bricks as Kurt falls against him, gasping for air.
"Oh God. Oh no, no, no, no." He watches the tears fall down the love of his lifes face as he cries out,
"It hurts, Blaine," he winces, "Ow, it really hurts."
After a few more gasps of air, Blaine hears a metal clash and turns to see the gunman drop his gun and run away, a look of pure terror on his face.
Tears cascade down Blaines face as rage takes over, he stands, leaving a dying Kurt on the floor shouting, as loud as he can, after him, "No, Blaine, Please stay with me."
He replays the words in his head, Stay with me. What would have happened differently if he stayed? Did he regret what he did? No. He was sure of it.
He picked up the gun, running faster than he ever had before. He catches up with the guy in the middle of a busy street but he doesnt care. He pulls the trigger, everything seems to turn to slow motion as he watched the bullet spin around and around and land with a thunk in centre of the shooters back. A few screams echo around Blaine but he doesnt hear them, dropping the gun and running back to Kurt, who is slowly bleeding out on the floor of the alley.
"I dont want to die." He cries as Blaine cradles his head.
"Im sorry, Im so sorry. I could have stopped it. I shouldnt have called him out! Im sorry." Blaines breaths get short and quick, the opposite of Kurts shortening, raspy breaths.
"Its not your fault. You didnt know," Kurts breathes fetal slower as both Blaines and his shirts get soaked in blood, "Im sleepy."
Blaine furiously shakes his head, tears flying off his cheeks as sirens start to flood the air, "No. No, stay awake, dont go to sleep!"
"Just, stay with me, please. Stay." Kurts eyes close and Blaine feels two hands pulling him away from Kurt, a heart-wrenching sob tearing through his chest. He gets slowly dragged away.
Now all he has is memories. He has the good ones, of the times Kurt surprised him with flowers or the times they fell asleep in each others arms. But the most prominent ones are the haunting memories of his blood soaked shirt and his pale white face with a sickly, content smile on it. He didnt deserve it.
He couldnt bring him back with a bullet to the heart of the back of a man, who tore his world apart.
