Thank you for the review gleefan. Reviews and ratings are always welcome(: Hope you enjoy the second installment of "Little White Lies"
Kurt stared intently at Blaine, awaiting the answer that he had anticipated for so long. His eyes and smile widened as the seconds drew out between them.

“Oh his name?” Blaine questioned, as if he was asking himself instead of Kurt. “His name is Aiden.” Blaine stated blankly, worried to how Kurt would react to this new piece of information. Would he be cool and collected or disturbed and upset? Blaine only hoped that it wasn’t the second possibility. He couldn’t bear to see Kurt broken to pieces, especially if he was the one to inflict the pain. He was supposed to be the mentor for Christ’s sake!

Kurt’s facial expression quickly drooped, and his eyes stared off into the distance. It was as if he was on pause. Although, Kurt suddenly replaced the morose demeanor with a broad smile and zeal in his eyes. He had become pretty good at putting on this faade since Karofsky used to bash him every day of his life.

“Oh that’s great Blaine. I’m so happy for you!” Kurt exclaimed trying to sound as enthusiastic as possible. Yet, Kurt was not thrilled for Blaine. He was heartbroken. Blaine had found somebody he had loved and it wasn’t Kurt. Emptiness soon consumed him as the butterflies were replaced with a bottomless pit.

Not only was Kurt heart broken, but he was confused. Had he made up all of the flirting and adorable, gentlemanly gestures himself? Oh god. Kurt knew it was too good to be true! He had concocted the whole thing in his head, and now he felt so stupid because Blaine obviously did not like him in any other way besides a friend. In that moment of realization, Kurt’s heart felt like it had been broken in half.

“Really? Thanks Kurt! I just really wanted to share my feelings with someone since it has been driving me crazy for so long!” Blaine exclaimed animatedly with a grin.

What the hell was he doing? He couldn’t just play with Kurt’s emotions like that. But wait? Kurt didn’t seem too distraught about him finding a possible boyfriend. Did that mean Kurt, not even in the slightest bit; want to be in a relationship with him? Even though Blaine knew he took the required safety precautions and ended up making the right decision (or so he thought), it still crushed his heart to know that opportunities with Kurt in the future were now diminished into thin air. He dreamed of them experiencing the first building blocks of a relationship together. I guess that’s why they call them dreams.

That felt like taking a bullet. Kurt pulled away from Blaine and sat extremely straight in his seat as he brushed off an imaginary piece of lint from his black Michael Kors jacket. He looked straight at Blaine with a semi- amused expression. Even though it was hard to do so when he felt as if hope of a happy life with Blaine was nonexistent.

Why was he letting this get to him so much? He still had his whole life ahead of him where plenty opportunities at a relationship laid. It was pretty obvious Blaine didn’t care about being in a ‘boyfriend & boyfriend relationship’ with Kurt, and he seemed really interested in Aiden. This didn’t mean Kurt couldn’t be there for Blaine as a friend. Besides, they’ve been extremely close friends for a while now. Therefore, he figured that Blaine would need someone to consult his problems with (even if they were boyfriend related), especially since Blaine had been there for Kurt during the rough patches in his life. Kurt would be there for Blaine, no matter how much it hurt him to the core.

‘Enough with the broken heart,’ Kurt thought to himself. ‘Let’s get down to business.’

“So are you going to tell Aiden how you feel about him? Propose being boyfriends?” Kurt asked questioningly with inflection flowing through his voice. He crossed his legs and held his chin high.

“Yeah…” Blaine answered vacantly. Oh shit, what was he going to say? He should’ve prepared for the consequences after conjuring up such a huge lie. Lie. Until now, Blaine hadn’t realized that he was lying to Kurt. Kurt. His friend, his crush, his everything.

Though, it was just a little white lie. Little white lies were ok, right? Parents tell their children little white lies all of the time in order to prevent mishaps, commotion, and hurt feelings. Blaine was telling this white lie for all of the right reasons. He was just looking out for the two of them.

Quick Blaine! Emphasize! You can’t just leave your answer with something as blunt as “Yeah”. Besides, Kurt will be expecting more of an explanation from you.

Sure enough, Kurt was immediately interrupting Blaine’s mental bickering.

“Come on Blaine, you have to tell me more! I’m your friend, and that’s what friends are for. Now please emphasize, if you will.” Kurt exclaimed with a coy smile and bright eyes. Kurt was really curious to what Blaine’s plans were to admitting his love for Aiden. Knowing Blaine, he would magnify this milestone, which would accommodate the Warblers, a cheesy love ballad, and the whole shebang. Just like the ‘Gap Attack’ which ended in complete disaster.

Blaine had to come up with an answer, effectively and fast!

“Okay, well I was planning on something simple. Go out for dinner and pop the question. Why go completely all out and overwhelm the guy. Besides, I don’t even know if he will say yes.” Blaine exclaimed blankly.

‘Come on Blaine, could you try and be the slightest more convincing? You created this white lie, and you are going to stick to it well enough for Kurt to believe! Convey this little white lie like you are conveying the message in one of your solos.” Blaine internally yelled at himself.

“… But I sure hope he doesn’t! I would be completely crushed. He means a great deal to me. Any recommendations Kurt? I always appreciate your opinion, it means a lot.” Blaine finished off with a beaming grin.

Kurt ignored the jealousy that ate up at his heart. Kurt quickly thought of a simple yet romantic plan that Blaine couldn’t help but be satisfied with.

“I think your idea has...potential, but let me just accentuate those plans. You could ask Aiden out to dinner at Breadstix, and before you ask, it is a lovely restaurant located right here in Lima. It is a go-to for every and any couple. I know the drive would be lengthy, but not only would it give you time to socialize with Aiden, but the food is astounding and they offer an unlimited supply of breadsticks. During dinner you could amp up the charm and work up the courage to admit your unrequited love, which would be followed by you asking him to be your boyfriend. Does that work?” Kurt questioned, a little startled by how bland Blaine wanted his plans. “I’m surprised, that you want something so simple? You are the type to make a moment like this extraordinary and extensive.” Kurt exasperated.

“Kurt, that’s perfect! You always have the best concepts. And I’m sure I want something simpler. I don’t want something so extravagant and have it lead to a repeat of what occurred last Valentine’s Day! ” Blaine chuckled faint heartedly in attempt to brush off his embarrassing reminiscence of what happened a few months ago.

It was uneasily silent for a few moments as the two sipped at their coffees and tried to think up of something to say in order to not mourn over their heartbreak.

“Can I ask you another question?” Kurt asked abruptly, staring intently at his coffee. He didn’t want to look Blaine in the eye before asking him this chagrin question that he would later doubt asking.

“Yes, of course. Ask away.” Blaine replied worriedly (though he didn’t let it be known in his voice.) Kurt squirmed around in his seat awkwardly.

“How did you know that Aiden was the one? How did he separate from all of the rest?” Kurt inquired, hoping he didn’t put Blaine on the spot too much. He awaited the answer in the intense aura of silence.

“Well, Kurt, when you are around that person, boy or girl, there is this feeling that you get in the pit of your stomach that compares to no other. It could simply be standing in the same room as them, and you become overjoyed… And every time you talk to them, you never want the discussion to end. The conversation rolls briskly along as butterflies fly wildly in your stomach and a smile spreads across your face. You think they are the most beautiful person inside out and nothing could change that… You can’t imagine yourself not being with that person, and it’s almost painful to say goodbye... You never want to say goodbye.” Blaine exclaimed as passion filled his eyes and he stared at the gorgeous boy sitting in front of him. This is how he felt about Kurt, and he couldn’t even express it.

The sad part was that here they stood across the table from each other, and neither of them were willing to declare their true feelings.

The silence was increasingly getting more awkward as the seconds rolled by. Both of them avoided each other’s glances at any cost. Kurt looked up at the clock, and to his surprise, it was already 8:00. He quickly remembered the piles of homework that awaited him back at home.

“Blaine I’ve had a great time with you today, and thanks for the coffee. I swear I’ll beat you to the punch next time! I've got to get going.” Kurt joked around, in attempt to lighten up the mood.

Blaine chuckled. “So have I Kurt. Thanks again for all of your help today with Aiden. Because of you, everything will go perfectly. I know it. You’re the best.” He replied as the two finally looked at each other.

“No problem. You know how I love to cordially plan everything. Whenever you need me, I’ll be here.” Kurt responded with a friendly smirk.

Kurt was near to tears as looked into Blaine’s molten hazel eyes. He loved this boy so much and he couldn’t help how he felt. He reminded himself that if he admitted his feelings, everything would be obliterated between them.

They both left the Lima Bean and parted with their last goodbyes. As soon as Kurt got into his car, he began to reminisce in deep thought. Since Blaine was so important to him and they were friends, it would only be right for him to meet his ‘soon to be boyfriend’ after they became official. Kurt pulled out his phone and shot Blaine a quick text before driving off.

K: Hey. After your date with Aiden, I would like to meet him. I’ve got to know who is going to be with my best friend, right? (:

End Notes: Hope you liked it! Again, I cannot stress to you enough how sorry I am about the wait. Reviews and ratings are encouraged! (:
