“If you were deserted on an island and could only have one book, what would it be?”

Kurt peered down at his boyfriend, whose head was in his lap. They’d spent the last half hour in a comfortable silence as Kurt played with Blaine’s hair.

“Well that’s random.”

“I think I’d bring Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,” said Blaine. “It’s entertaining, plus I could use some of the survival tips.”

Kurt laughed. “I don’t remember zombies being part of the whole ‘deserted island’ arrangement.”

“Hey, you never know! Maybe I had to flee to the deserted island because of the zombies.”

“Oh, so you wouldn’t bring me with you to escape the zombie invasion?”

Sweetheart,” Blaine explained as if it were the most obvious fact in the world, “if I’ve escaped to an island because of zombies without you, it’s only because you’ve already been bitten and I would rather run than try to bring down zombie you.”

Kurt lifted Blaine’s head to get a better angle for a tender kiss. As he broke it off, he muttered, “Good answer.”

Blaine smirked before asking, “So, what would you bring?”

“I thought I was a zombie?” he replied curtly with a raised eyebrow. “I was unaware that zombies possessed the ability to read.”

“Ok, forget the whole zombie thing. There’s no apocalypse; it’s a normal world except for the fact that you’re alone on an island. What book would you choose?”

Kurt stared up at the ceiling to think as he absent mindedly began scratching behind Blaine’s ear.

“Hmmm, I’d probably go with a classic. Something like…the Iliad or the Odyssey.”

“Good one. Why?”

“Well,” Kurt mused, “It’s got everything a good story needs: action, adventure, romance, and mythical creatures. Plus, if I was really alone on an island, it’d give me hope that I’d make my way home to you eventually.”

Blaine half-heartedly rolled his eyes but couldn’t stop the grin that was spreading across his face. “God, since when did you get so sappy?”

Kurt smiled and replied, “Since I started hanging out with you, of course.”

End Notes: This was so much fun to write because I had to really think about what books they would take and why. It's hard enough to think about that question for myself, let alone two characters who we know only a select amount of information about.
