Kurt woke up to the smell of lemon blueberry pancakes wafting in from the kitchen. Mmmm, lemon blueberry, Kurt thought dreamily. Blaine always did know him well. He knew everything when it came to Kurt. What he liked, what he disliked, what made him happy…

Kurt laid underneath the warm duvet before pulling himself out of the bed and stumbling into the kitchen where his boyfriend was at the stove flipping a pancake while humming. Kurt stood at the doorway and stared at the beautiful man swinging his hips in rhythm to his humming. His dark curls were falling down into his warm hazel eyes, not having been gelled yet. He twirled around and caught Kurt's eye. He smirked and walked toward him, beckoning Kurt to come closer with his finger. Kurt blushed and walked into Blaine's open arms and cuddled into the crook of the shorter man's neck.

“Morning, baby,” Blaine said, kissing Kurt's temple and hugging him closer.

“Morning. Pancakes?” Kurt asked, reluctantly pulling out of Blaine's embrace and sliding into one of the chairs by the table.

“Yeah. Thought you would enjoy the perfect breakfast since you are the perfect man,” Blaine said, looking over his shoulder and smirking. Kurt blushed yet again and sunk down into his chair. Blaine always knew exactly what to say to make Kurt happy. It didn't matter where they were or what was happening, Blaine would say something like ‘you look beautiful' or ‘I love you so much' and it would send waves of affection and adoration for the other man through his body.

Blaine continued humming and preparing breakfast while Kurt went to check the mail. When he returned, there was a plate with two pancakes, sliced fruit, and grapefruit juice on the table. Beside it was a note written in Blaine's neat handwriting.

Kurt,

Enjoy your breakfast. I'm getting dressed in the bedroom, right now. When you're done eating, get dressed in something nice and meet me out front. I have a surprise for you.

Love always,

Blaine

Kurt smiled and sat down in front of his plate and began eating. Excitement flowed through him at the thought of Blaine taking him out. He didn't even know Blaine was planning something like this. He should've noticed given the extensive time Blaine would spend up at night, writing stuff on paper and going back to it every time he had an idea. Kurt hadn't paid any attention to it. He assumed it was an assignment for NYADA but now thinks otherwise. He continued eating with a smile plastered on his face. Once the plate was free of its contents, Kurt walked to the room where he decided what to wear. If anyone knew Kurt, they also knew that when he was picking out something to wear, it took time, but Kurt didn't want to keep Blaine waiting so he went with something simple. Skinny dark wash jeans, a light blue dress shirt, a white cardigan, complete with perfectly styled hair. Kurt smiled at his reflection before heading out the front door, meeting Blaine in front of their car. Blaine was holding a single red rose in his hand. He gave it to Kurt and kissed him of the cheek.

“You look amazing,” Blaine said, looking intently into Kurt's eyes and turned toward the passenger door, opening it, and gesturing for Kurt to get in.

“Your carriage awaits,” Blaine looked up at Kurt through his eyelashes from his bended down position. Kurt blushed and climbed into the car. Blaine shut the door and jogged to the other side where he jumped into the driver's and started the engine. They drove off down the street and rounded the corner.

“Where are we going?” Kurt asked, not expecting the answer he wanted. Blaine looked back at his boyfriend mischieviously before shaking his head and looking back onto the road.

“You're not going to tell me?” Kurt asked. “Fine. I hope you know how much I hate surprises.”

Although, Kurt hated surprises, he couldn't help the smile that was gradually spreading across his face. He loved when Blaine did things for him out of the blue like this. It made him feel special.

“You know I love you, Kurt,” Blaine began, settling his hand on top of Kurt's thigh. “But I want you to be surprised. This is a good one, don't worry.”

Kurt smiled and grabbed Blaine's hand, squeezing it slightly before letting go so Blaine could drive with two hands. They drove in silence, stealing glances at each other without the other one's knowledge, blushing when they were caught. When they finally drove out of the limits of New York City, Kurt looked over at Blaine in confusion. Blaine just smiled and continued driving.

“Patience, Kurt. We're almost there.” Kurt's face brightened up in excitement and sat still in his seat. After a while, they finally pulled to a halt in front of a fence that bordered a large expanse of nothing but trees.

“Blaine, what are we doing he-” Blaine shushed him and told him to follow him out of the car. They walked up to the fence and Kurt wondered how they would get past it before Blaine led him to an opening in the fence a few meters away. Kurt climbed through, followed by Blaine. Once they were on the other side, Blaine grabbed Kurt's hand and led him through the abyss of trees.

“This way,” he said and continued walking. Kurt wondered how long they would be walking and was relieved when the the thickness of the trees grew thinner and thinner before they were finally standing in a lilac meadow. Kurt's mouth dropped open in awe and looked at Blaine as if asking, “What is all this?”

Blaine just smiled in response and walked toward the center of the clearing, expecting Kurt to follow, which he did. Once they were in the center, Kurt was greeted with a blanket. On top of the blanket was a basket and a few pillows. After Kurt saw it, he turned toward his boyfriend and jumped into his arms, wrapping his arms around his neck. Blaine smiled in satisfaction and leaned into Kurt's touch. He chuckled.

“I'm glad you like it,” he said.

“Like it? Blaine, I love it,” Kurt scoffed and looked at Blaine lovingly. “I love you.”

Kurt kissed Blaine sweetly and pulled back. Blaine smiled at the beautiful man in front of him before saying, “Well, what's the hold up? C'mon.”
