Blaine took a breath, smiling to himself as he stood in the middle of his barber shop, one client having just left, waiting for his next to arrive. He still found it hard to believe that it had been open for just over a year now.
His smile grew as he thought about how lucky he was, another year with Kurt, having just celebrated their two year anniversary, his first year with his brother now living in the same city as him, a year with no run ins with his parents.
Things were looking pretty good.
Blaine's head turned quickly as he heard a knock on the door, signalling that his next client had arrived.
"Hey Coop," Blaine said as he opened the door for his brother to step inside.
"Hey Blainey," Cooper replied as e moved passed Blaine and took a seat in the chair, turning to face his brother, "How are you? I haven't seen you since before your anniversary last week, congratulations, two years," Cooper grinned.
"Thanks Coop," Blaine said with a shy smile as he tied a piece of fabric around Cooper's neck, followed by snapping the cape in place.
"So, what did you get up to? I haven't seen any announcements anywhere, so I'm guessing there was no surprise proposal" Cooper said as Blaine leaned the chair back to start washing his hair.
"Not yet," Blaine said quietly.
"What?" Cooper exclaimed as his eyes shot open, moving to look at Blaine.
"I bought a ring," Blaine said, focusing even harder on working the shampoo through Cooper's hair.
"You bought a ring" Cooper said, his tone softening as he looked up at his little brother, "Blaine," he said, his voice catching in his throat.
"I know," Blaine replied, moving his head and bringing his shoulder up to wipe at his eyes while his hands rinsed Cooper's hair.
"When?"
"A few weeks ago," Blaine said, blinking a few times to help clear the tears, "I thought about proposing last week on our anniversary, but I didn't want it to seem to clichéd, Kurt doesn't deserve a cliché, he deserves a surprise, something from my heart,"
"You're such a romantic," Cooper grinned as Blaine sat him up and turned him to face the mirror, "So, how and when?"
"Tonight," Blaine said with a smile, combing through Cooper's hair "Today is the last day of a massive photo shoot that he's been working on for the past three weeks. We'll get home, have a nice quiet dinner, possibly a bath and then I'll ask him," Blaine smiled again before reaching for his scissors.
"It sounds perfect Blainey," Cooper said earnestly, watching as Blaine made the first cut, "It's very you, not over the top, but still very romantic,"
"I know that Kurt kind of has a thing for grand gestures, but I just wanted this to be about the two of us, you know," Cooper nodded as Blaine continued, "We'll save the show-stoppers for the wedding, but for now, I just want tonight to be perfect,"
"Blaine, you know that whatever you do, Kurt will always think that you're perfect," Cooper said, his tone strong and honest.
"I know," Blaine nodded, "Sometimes it's just hard to believe that we found each other. It just blows my mind that I have found the one person that I want to spend the rest of my life with. This is it. Kurt is it for me. I don't want anyone else by my side,"
"And you won't Blainey; you're each other's person. Kurt will always be by your side," Cooper said, smiling at his brother in the mirror.
"Thanks Coop," Blaine replied, ducking his head slightly to hide his smile.

"Hello," Kurt called out from the front door a few hours later, signalling that he was home, "Blaine?" Kurt's said questioningly as he made his way into the dining room and found the table already set, with a delicate candle glowing in the middle.
"Hey you," Blaine said with a grin as he emerged from the kitchen, leaning forward to press a kiss to Kurt's lips.
"Hey you too," Kurt smiled, "What's all this for?" he asked, sliding an arm around Blaine's neck.
"To celebrate the end of your long and hard three week photo shoot," Blaine said, placing a hand on Kurt's waist and kissing his temple.
"Thank you," Kurt said, turning to kiss Blaine again.
"You're very welcome, but first, I have another surprise for you," Blaine said as he took Kurt's hand and lead him down towards their bedroom, stopping in the en suite bathroom.
"Blaine," Kurt said with a whisper, his hand moving up to cover his mouth. Set out in front of him, in the bathroom, were at least one hundred, lit, tea light candles, all leading up to a warm and sweet smelling bubble bath.
"I wanted to make tonight special for you," Blaine whispered in his ear as he began unbuttoning Kurt's shirt.
"This is beautiful," Kurt said quietly as he let Blaine undress him, his fingers working gently through Blaine's hair as Blaine worked at removing both of their clothes. Once they were both undressed, Blaine slipped into the water first, holding a hand out for Kurt before guiding him in and letting his settle against his chest, "I needed this," Kurt said softly, closing his eyes and leaning his head against Blaine's shoulder, turning slightly and pressing a kiss to Blaine's neck.
"You deserve it, you've worked so hard over the last few weeks," Blaine replied, kissing the top of Kurt's head.
"I love you,"
"I love you too Kurt, so much,"
They both lay there in silence, only moving to press another kiss somewhere on the other's body.
"Blaine?" Kurt said softly, turning and moving his tongue gently against Blaine's ear, making his shiver, "Are you ok?"
"What? Why do you ask?" Blaine said nervously. Kurt just smiled.
"Your heart is beating really fast," Kurt said. Blaine closed his eyes and took a deep and calming breath.
"I'm sorry," Blaine said with a small smile.
"Don't be sorry, you get cute when you're nervous,"
"How did you know that I'm nervous?"
"Blaine," Kurt said, smiling again, "I know you," Blaine laughed at Kurt's answer and shook his head.
"I should have known, I'm not very good at keeping secrets from you,"
"No you're not," Kurt grinned, "Your body always gives them away," Blaine nodded in agreement, feeling himself relax.
"I love that you're able to read me," Blaine smiled, leaning down to kiss Kurt's lips, "I love that you know exactly how I'm feeling and what I'm thinking without even having to ask; I love that you know how to fix everything that I'm worried about. I love that you're my person and that-," Blaine had to stop himself as he let out a small sob, "Ok, I'm not going to be able to get through everything without breaking down completely, so I'm just going to do it," He said, mostly to himself, as he reached around behind him and pulled out a small black velvet box that he had hidden behind a few candles, "Kurt Hummel, from the moment that I first saw you in the waiting area of the salon, I think that a piece of me knew that you were it for m, even if the rest of me didn't know yet. You make me so incredibly happy and I don't know what I'd have done or what my life would be if I hadn't found you. I don't want to lose you Kurt, I don't think I would survive if I lost you, so," Blaine took another breath and opened the box in front Kurt; he smiled as he felt Kurt's heart beat speed up against his chest, "Kurt, will you marry me?"
"Yeah," Kurt said with a whisper, his head nodding against Blaine's shoulder, "Yes," Blaine let out a relieved laugh as he dropped the box on the floor and slipped the ring onto Kurt's waiting left ring finger, "Blaine," Kurt said with a breath as he turned over, causing the water to splash over the edge, and placed his hands on either side of Blaine's face, taking a moment to just look at him, before pressing a passionate kiss to his lips.
"Kurt," Blaine sighed into the kiss, smiling to himself as he thought about the fact that this was their first kiss as fiancés. Kurt pulled away soon after, with tears in his eyes and a smile on his face, before standing and getting out of the bath.
"Wait here, I'll be right back," Kurt promised. Blaine nodded and watched as his very naked and wet fiancé disappeared into their bedroom, before emerging again, hiding something behind his back, "I got this last week, and while you beat me to it, I still want to do this," Kurt smiled at Blaine as he bent down on one knee, "Blaine Anderson, you are my person, and I want nothing more than to keep being your person to, will you marry me?" Kurt asked as he brought his own box out from behind his back, revealing a ring intended for Blaine.
"Of course I will," Blaine grinned, holding out his hand for Kurt to place it on his own finger.
"We're engaged," Kurt whispered as he got back into the bath, taking his place back against Blaine's chest.
"We're engaged," Blaine grinned, pressing a kiss to Kurt's temple as he brought his left hand around to hold onto Kurt's, smiling at the feeling of warm metal sliding against warm metal.
