"Blainey, are you sure you don't want anything? You've been pacing since he went in?" Cooper asked as he watched his brother walk backwards and forwards in front of him. Kurt had been taken into surgery just over an hour ago and Blaine hadn't sat still.
"Right now, pacing is the only thing that I can do," Blaine replied, turning his head to look at Cooper. Cooper felt his heart sink, Blaine's eyes were bloodshot and red-rimmed; he just looked so helpless and small. He knew that Kurt was in good hands, but it still pained him to know that he couldn't do anything while he was in surgery.
"Come here," Cooper sighed, lifting his arm as an invitation to Blaine. Blaine returned the sigh and sat down next to his brother, Cooper's arm wrapping protectively around Blaine's shoulders. "I know that you're freaking out, but he's gonna be ok, you just need to relax a little ok?" Blaine nodded against Cooper's shoulder as he settled in to wait.
"Blaine Anderson?" Blaine's head shot up around twenty minutes later at the sound of someone calling his name, the nurse smiled at the hopeful look on his face, "Kurt is out of surgery and doing fine. He is currently being moved into a recovery room, so if you'd like to come with me you can be there when he wakes up," Blaine nodded and stood, but not before quickly looking back at Cooper.
"Go, I'm only a text away," Blaine moved back to give his brother a hug before turning again and following the young nurse.
"Everything went according to plan Blaine," the nurse said before Blaine even had a chance to ask, "Dr Harris was able to remove everything with no trouble," Blaine let out the breath that he had been holding in just as they came to stop outside of a room, "They should be bringing him in any minute now, so if you'd like to take a seat, and once Kurt is awake and lucid, Dr Harris will be in to explain the aftercare instructions,"
"Thank you," Blaine replied, his voice barely louder than a whisper. He did what he was told and moved into the room, sitting on the chair and waiting for Kurt to be brought back in. Thankfully he didn't have to wait too long before a male nurse came in, pushing an unconscious Kurt along on his bed.
"Hi, you must be Blaine," he smiled as he locked Kurt's bed into place, "We heard a lot about you before they put Kurt under," Blaine felt a blush creep up his neck, "I'm sure you've already been told, but Kurt's surgery went really well, and he should be waking up very soon. Now he's going to be in a bit of pain, but we have hooked him up to a morphine pump, so just tell him to give this a squeeze if everything becomes unbearable," Blaine nodded as he thanked the nurse. He waited until the other man had left the room before pulling the chair up to Kurt's bed and taking a seat, leaning forward to rest his elbows on Kurt's bed and taking Kurt's right hand between his won, careful not to knock the IV.
"Everything's going to be ok, I'm here," he whispered, pressing a kiss to Kurt's hand. It was a relief to Blaine to see Kurt's face look so relaxed, the lines of pain had disappeared, and all that was left was his beautiful Kurt. Blaine sat just looking at Kurt, moving his hand gently back through his hair, until Kurt began to stir underneath his touch, "Welcome back," Blaine smiled gently as Kurt's eyes slowly opened.
"Hmmm," Kurt moaned slightly, still disorientated, "Where?"
"Shh," Blaine whispered as he moved his hand back through his hair again, "It's probably best that you don't try and talk right now," Kurt nodded, though still confused, "You're in the hospital and you've just had surgery to remove your tonsils," Blaine smiled again as Kurt nodded in understanding, "Does anything hurt?" Kurt nodded, "Here, just gently squeeze this, it'll help take the pain away," Kurt nodded again and took the pump from Blaine's hand, giving it a small squeeze. Blaine watched as the morphine was slowly released into Kurt's system, clearly doing its job because he seemed to relax again almost instantly, "Feel a bit better,"
"Yeah," Kurt croaked. Blaine moved forward to press a kiss to Kurt's forehead.
"I'm glad," he said with a smile as he pulled away, "Dr Harris shouldn't be too far away, she's going to give us your aftercare instructions and then hopefully I'll be able to take you home later,"
"Given how well the surgery went, I'd say you will definitely be taking him home later," Blaine looked up to see a smiling Dr Harris who had just entered the room, "How are you feeling Kurt?" she asked, moving forward to take his vitals.
"Better, just a little sore," Dr Harris nodded.
"Yeah, you'll be a little uncomfortable for a few days, but once your throat heals, you'll be back to normal. Now Blaine, I've printed out a couple of information sheets for you, they just go over what foods to avoid, how to care for the surgical site, those kinds of things, but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask a staff member. I'll be back later this afternoon with Kurt's release papers, so until then Kurt, rest up and take advantage of that morphine pump," Dr Harris winked at Kurt and Blaine said good bye to the doctor with a wide grin.
"I get to take you home," Blaine grinned, leaning in for another kiss.
"Kurt," Cooper exclaimed as he entered the room, "I'm glad to see that you're ok," Kurt returned Cooper's comment with a smile.
"How did you get in here?" Blaine asked his brother.
"That nice nurse led me back here, said I could hang out until it was time to take Kurt home. Which reminds me, do you want me to go and pick up Wes' car? I can't imagine that a taxi would be everyone's preferred mode of transport right now," Cooper asked.
"Sounds like a good idea Coop. Do you want me to text you when we're ready to be picked up?" Blaine asked.
"Yes please. It'll give me a good chance to catch up on their honeymoon gossip," Cooper grinned as he said his goodbyes and left Kurt's room.
"Is there anything you want or need?" Blaine asked as he turned to look back at Kurt.
"You, here," Kurt replied softly, moving over to make room for Blaine on the bed. Blaine grinned and slid his shoes off, moving to sit up against Kurt's pillows and let Kurt rest his head on Blaine's chest, Blaine's arms automatically moving around Kurt's shoulders, still being careful to not disturb his IV portal.
"Get some sleep sweetie, I'll be here when you wake up," Kurt nodded and sighed against Blaine's chest before closing his eyes. Blaine listened as Kurt's breathing evened out and his grip on Blaine's hand went lax.

"Ok, you've got pillows, pain medicine, water, ice cream, jello, blankets -,"
"Blaine," Kurt said quietly, placing a hand out to catch Blaine's wrist, "Sit down, I'm fine," Blaine sighed with a smile and sat down on the edge of his and Kurt's bed.
"Are you sure, I don't want you to be missing anything,"
"Blaine, we got home just over an hour ago and you haven't stopped. I promise I'll let you know if I need anything,"
"Ok," Blaine nodded, bringing his hand up to rest against the side of Kurt's jaw, "How's your throat?"
"It's pretty sore, but we both know that there is nothing you can do," Kurt smiled, nuzzling into Blaine's touch.
"I know, I just don't like seeing you in pain,"
"I know you don't," Kurt said as he smiled softly at Blaine, his voice quiet and still a bit rough, "But at least now you know that I'm going to be ok," Blaine nodded at Kurt's words.
"Ok, is there anything you need right now?"
"No, just sleep,"
"Ok," Blaine said again, "Your phone is on the night stand so just flick me a text if you wake up and need anything ok?"
"Ok," Kurt grinned, shuffling down the bed to lie down.
"I love you," Blaine whispered, leaning down to brush a lock of Kurt's hair back into place, before pressing a kiss to his forehead.
"Love you too," Kurt sighed sleepily before closing his eyes and drifting off again. Blaine waited until Kurt's breathing had levelled out before leaving him be and making his way back down to the living room.
"How is he?" Cooper asked as Blaine fell onto the couch with a loud sigh.
"He's ok, just in a bit of pain. He's sleeping now though," Blaine replied, lifting his glasses to rub at his eyes.
"And how are you?" Cooper asked, leaning forward in the armchair to place a hand on Blaine's forearm.
"Exhausted, still a little freaked out, my brain just won't shut down," Blaine answered as he placed a hand on top of Cooper's, "I know that he's ok, and it really helps that he's back in our bed, but I still just can't get last night out of my head. I just keep seeing Kurt's pained face and hearing the doctor say the word surgery over and over again. I think everything happened so fast that I never really got time to think or process anything, and now its hit me like a tonne of bricks," Blaine sighed again, letting out a large breath.
"I know Blainey, trust me. I felt exactly the same when we got the call to say that you were in hospital while visiting Grandma. I'm just glad that this was only tonsillitis and you didn't have to go through what I did when finding out your lung had collapsed and things weren't looking good for a while," Cooper shook his head and rubbed at his own eyes, reminding himself that Blaine was alive and ok.
"I'm sorry Coop," Blaine said quietly, looking at his brother, in that moment, Cooper had never seen him look so young.
"It's ok, you're ok and Kurt is going to be ok," Cooper smiled, squeezing Blaine's arm gently, "What do you want to do for dinner?"
"I hadn't really thought about it," Blaine shrugged.
"Good," Cooper grinned, "Because Sam's coming over in an hour to eat with us," Blaine smirked at the excited look that crossed Cooper's face.
"You really like her don't you Coop,"
"Blaine, I really do,"

Forty minutes later and Blaine found himself opening the door to a smiling Samantha, holding a container of something.
"Hi Samantha, it's nice to see you again," Blaine smiled genuinely, stepping aside to let her pass.
"You too Blaine, and please, call me Sam; I feel like I'm in trouble whenever I hear my full name," she replied with a laugh.
"No problem, follow me. Coop's just in the shower, said something about wanting to look pretty for -," Blaine's words were cut off as a hand clamped over his mouth.
"Thank you squirt, I think you've said enough," Cooper said loudly, squeezing his brother a little tighter to convey the message. Sam just laughed a leaned across to press a kiss to Cooper's cheek.
"It's nice to see you too Cooper," she grinned, "Blaine, I brought this for Kurt," she continued, holding out the container for Blaine, "Cooper told me about Kurt's surgery and I wanted to bring something for him. My Mom has the amazing soft cheesecake recipe, so I made one this afternoon. I added vanilla and chocolate for him and it'll be safe for him to eat because there's no biscuit crust," she smiled again as Blaine took the container from her and placed it in the fridge for later.
"Thank you so much Sam, but you really didn't have to," Blaine replied with a genuine tone.
"Of course I did. I had my tonsils out when I was a kid and I know how sore it can be,"
"Coop, she's too good for you," Blaine grinned at his brother as he ducked just in time to miss the slap that Cooper was trying to place on his head.
"Jealous Blainey?" Cooper smirked as he placed an arm around Sam's waist.
"Not really, no offense Sam, you're amazing, but not really my type," Sam just smiled and waved him off.
"It's fine Blaine, I understand that I've got too much going on up top and not enough down there," both Blaine and Cooper let out loud laughs at Sam's comment.
"So right," Blaine replied, "So, dinner?"
"Sam and I were going to go and pick up take out from the Chinese place across the street, did you want me to get you your usual?" Cooper asked, taking Sam's hand and heading towards the door.
"Yes please Coop," Blaine responded, "I'll be in my room if you can't find me when you get back,"
"Ok," Cooper shouted from the front door before heading out with Sam. Blaine smiled at the two of them before turning and heading back to his room to check on Kurt.
"Hey, how are you feeling?" he asked as he entered and saw Kurt's eyes fluttering open.
"Sore," Kurt whispered, a tear slipping down his cheek.
"Oh sweetie," Blaine sighed, moving across the room to sit next to Kurt, "Can you sit up, it's been four hours so you can have your next lot of pain meds," Kurt nodded gently as he began to move to sit up. Blaine picked p Kurt's bottle of pain medicine and poured out the required amount into the little cup, before handing it to Kurt who drank it down in one go, "That should kick in soon and then you'll start to feel better," Kurt nodded as he leaned forward to pull Blaine onto the bed. Blaine moved in behind Kurt and let him rest back against him.
"Is Cooper here?" Kurt asked after he was comfortable against Blaine's chest.
"No, he and Sam have gone out to pick up dinner. Why? Fancy a quickie before he returns?" Blaine asked with a chuckle. Kurt smiled and lightly smacked Blaine's chest with his hand.
"No silly," he said as he laughed softly, before wincing at the pain in his throat, "I was just making conversation,"
"Good, I really don't think that your throat would be up to much now anyway," Blaine replied.
"Who said I would be the one giving? I had surgery this morning Blaine, the least I would expect from you is a sympathetic blowjob," Kurt pouted.
"Ok," Blaine grinned as he pressed a kiss to the top of Kurt's head, "But maybe not tonight, I can't imagine your throat would thank me," Kurt turned slightly and gave Blaine a confused look, "I just mean that the blowjob I gave you would probably be so amazing and spectacular that you would be shouting and coming so hard that it would rip your stitches and then we'd be back to square one,"
"That's fair enough, you do give spectacular blowjobs," Kurt agreed with a smile before placing a kiss to Blaine's collarbone.
"Are you hungry?" Blaine asked, feeling his own stomach start to growl, "Sam made you a soft cheesecake, it has no hard base and it looks so good,"
"She didn't have to," Kurt said, his tone genuine, just like Blaine's had been.
"That's what I said, but she said that she didn't mind. She's just a genuinely nice person," Kurt nodded in agreeance.
"And in response to your first question, no I'm not hungry, but thank you for asking,"
"It was my pleasure. Do you want me to turn on the TV?"
"Yes please, but I'm probably going to fall asleep again soon anyway,"
"That's ok," Blaine said, turning slowly to grab the remote, without disturbing Kurt, "Feel free to sleep as much as you want," Kurt just nodded as Blaine watched his eyes slip closed. Blaine pressed another kiss to the top of his head before switching on the TV. The channel he turned to was playing a Survivor marathon, so he was happy with that.
Halfway through the episode, Cooper knocked on his door holding a bag with Blaine's dinner in it.
"Thought you might want that in here," he said, holding the bag out to Blaine who sat up slightly and took his food from Cooper.
"Thanks,"
"How's he doing?"
"He's still in a bit of pain, but I got some more medicine into him before he fell back asleep, so hopefully it has taken the edge off," Cooper nodded in response.
"Ok, well Sam and I will be in the living room if you need anything,"
"Thanks Coop,"
"No problem Blainey," Cooper grinned before moving out of the room and closing the door behind him.
Blaine placed another kiss to Kurt's head before opening his dinner and eating quietly, Kurt sleeping soundly against his chest.
