Blaine was still reconsidering the whole idea when he and Mercedes noticed Rachel storming toward them, a frown on her face. She grabbed Blaine's arm and started walking off with him.
"Rachel, what are you doing?" Mercedes asked grabbing Blaine's other arm and pulling him back toward her. "You're going to make him lose his spot."
Rachel scoffed. "Fine by me. I don't want him involved with a boy like that! He said I dressed like a grandma with a toddler's brain!" She scoffed again. Both Blaine and Mercedes stared at her wide-eyed.
"Wait, you met Kurt?" Blaine asked, stunned, completely disregarding her comment about what Kurt had said about her style. Not that he would admit it but the boy did have a point. Rachel didn't know the first thing about being in fashion. Except for that weird stance the year before when she had gotten Brittany to try and set her clothes on trend and it had worked but Rachel had never gotten the credit for it because no one believed her when she said that she'd paid Brittany to do it.
The brunette glared at him and stomped her foot. "Yes, and he's completely cruel! He's got a real bitch attitude and I think he has a stick up his butt!" She glared at nothing in particular. "He's not the boy for you Blaine. He's let all this stupid fame go to his head."
"Rachel stop it!" The three of them turned to see Finn rushing toward them. She glared at him and shook her head.
"I'm not talking to you Finn Hudson! You didn't stand up for me when he insulted me!"
Mercedes and Blaine exchanged looks. "Wait," Mercedes said. "Finn, you met him too?" Finn sighed and ran a hand through his hair, glancing around to make sure no one had been attracted by Rachel's outburst. He stepped in closer so only the three of them would be able to hear him.
"Kurt's my stepbrother." Blaine and Mercedes looked completely surprised and taken aback by this information. "I didn't tell anyone for the sake of Kurt's privacy. I didn't want people to bombard him or something." He knew that Blaine and Mercedes would understand that but Rachel...
Rachel marched closer to Finn and glared at him right in the eye. "You could have introduced Blaine a long time ago and then he would have already been a star. I could have been a star! But I don't want anything to do with Kurt Hummel and neither will Blaine!"
Blaine cleared his throat and narrowed his eyes, his triangular eyebrows peaking just a bit in arch. "I think I will decide whether I want anything to do with Kurt. You don't make my decisions for me Rachel!" That said, he noted the line had moved and walked further up to catch up with them. Mercedes merely shot Rachel a look and followed Blaine.
Kurt leaned on his hand, his eyelids starting to drift closed again. He was incredibly bored. All these boys and none of them either had the look, or the talent. They'd been running the audition for hours already and there were bound to be several more left to go. It was going to be a late night.
"I'm going to go get some fresh air," he said, dropping the pencil and heading out of the building before his co-judges could protest. He shoved his hands in his pockets and looked up at the darkening sky.
Unfortunately, the star wasn't watching where he was going and he found himself bumping into someone, literally. There was an 'oof' as whoever it was landed on the ground and Kurt felt bad.
"Oh gosh, I'm sorry. I wasn't watching where I was going! Here, let me help you," he said, sticking out his hand and glancing down at the boy. His breath nearly caught in his throat. The kid was definitely around his age or a little younger. He had curly black hair that was gelled back atop his head, triangular eyebrows, and hazel eyes that seemed to sparkle in the fading light. His skin was well tanned and he was dressed in a black polo with red jeans and a matching bow tie. He wore shoes without socks but that didn't bother Kurt. In short, the boy was absolutely gorgeous!
"You're...you're," the boy stammered as Kurt helped him up. The pale boy could only smile graciously at the boy's nervous.
"Kurt Hummel?" he supplied, smiling all the more wider at the boy. He liked this kid. He was genuine. Kurt could tell that much. All the boy could do was nod in response. Kurt chuckled. "And what might your name be?" he asked. The boy gasped as though he never expected Kurt would be talking to him.
It took a moment before he could find his voice. "B-Blaine," he said.
"Blaine?" Kurt repeated, smiling still. "I like that. Are you auditioning Blaine?" All Blaine could do was nod. "Well than, I can't wait to see what you've got. You're already a thousand times better than anyone I've seen so far today and you've barely gotten out two words to me." Blaine was struck dumb by this. He wasn't even acting civil and Kurt Hummel was intrigued by him still. That meant something, right?
"I...I...um..." Blaine cursed himself for not being able to speak. Kurt unexpected took his hand and kissed the back of it and Blaine flushed deep red.
"I'm sure you'll do just fine Blaine." He smiled and winked at him before dropping the boy's hand and walking back into the community center to continue with the auditions.
Blaine could do nothing but stare after him in awe.
It was still sometime before Blaine's audition rolled around. By then, night had well fallen and the judges were getting sleepy. Kurt had already fallen asleep several times by a combination of sheer boredom and long hours judging people. All three of them were cranky in that they weren't being very nice to the rejects anymore.
"Next!" Kurt called half-heartedly. It took a moment but the door finally opened and in walked...the curly-haired boy. Kurt immediately perked up and graced him with a beautiful smile. "Why hello there Blaine. It's about time someone interesting walked into this room." Blaine blushed and looked down at his hands.
"Let's get this over with," said Stanley, the older man sitting beside Kurt. Kurt threw him a look. Stanley certainly expected this to be another flop. He held out a script. "Take this and read from page twenty-four, starting with 'But I can't believe you have a boyfriend already,'" he said shortly.
Blaine took the script and looked down at it. He opened his mouth but nothing came out. He couldn't find his voice. His hands were sweating and Kurt was looking at him, that beautiful smile still on his face.
"Next!" called the other man, reaching out to take the script back from Blaine. Kurt smacked his hand away.
"Give the boy a chance! i like him."
The other man, whose name was Noah glanced at Kurt. "He can't even read a simple script Kurt! He's not worth looking at. This boy has no talent!" At that, Kurt stood harshly from the table and leaned over, pressing his face so far into Noah's, Blaine was surprised they were kissing. The star had his hands on his hips.
"The role is for my love interest so what I say goes. I thought we cleared this up that I get the final call," he snapped in a dark voice. Blaine was taken aback. He was getting a hint of what Rachel had called Kurt's bitch attitude. He was just thankful it wasn't directed at him.
Kurt slowly pulled back from Noah and turned a dazzling smile on Blaine. "Are you not comfortable reading from the script gorgeous?" he asked. Blaine blushed at the compliment. He bit his lip lightly and shook his head. Taking a deep breath.
"It's not that." Blaine surprised himself when he was able to get out the small sentence. Kurt smiled even more at him. "It's just...I...wow, I'm just a little overwhelmed I guess because it's you. I mean, you're actually here!"
It was then that Kurt remembered something. Blaine Anderson. That was the name Karofsky had used. Just staring at the boy, if this was Blaine Anderson, Kurt didn't think the football player could be more wrong.
There was a cough and Kurt turned to see Stanley raising an eyebrow and looking positively bored and irritated.
"We will not hire someone who will be all fanboy on Kurt!" he spat. Kurt threw him a nasty glare and he seemed to back down.
Blaine bit his lip. "I'm sorry, I'll just...go then," he said, turning to leave the room. Within seconds he felt a soft hand slide into his and he turned to see Kurt looking back at him with those stunning glasz eyes of his. Blaine couldn't help the tingles that went up his arm just feeling Kurt's hand in his. It felt so perfect, like they were meant to fit together.
"Don't go," Kurt said quietly. "I feel chemistry with you. Forget auditioning. I want you Blaine, just you." Blaine could hardly believe what he was hearing. This gorgeous boy wanted him to be his co-star and he hadn't even properly showed him what he could do. Kurt turned and looked at Stanley and Noah. "Dismiss everyone else. I'm casting Blaine." They stared at him in surprise.
Noah coughed. "Fine. But don't come crying to us when your moving gets bad reviews because this boy can't act," he said gruffly before stepping out of the room to dismiss the rest of the auditioners.
Kurt rolled his eyes and Blaine bit his lip, trying to hold back the pain he was feeling about the whole thing. He was pretty sure that he was about to throw Kurt's reputation down the drain but if Kurt wanted him, who was he to say no?
"Don't worry about Noah, he'll come around. Stanley's usually the always cranky pants. Noah's just tired and he gets snippy pretty badly when he is," Kurt told him. He squeezed his hand. "Come on, I'll take you for coffee," he said with a smile.
"N-now?" Blaine asked surprised. Kurt chuckled.
"Yes silly. I could use a pick me up and it's a good opportunity to get to know you. I mean, you are going to be my new co-star right?"
Blaine had never dreamed that he would ever hear those words come out of Kurt's mouth but he couldn't be happier that he had. This was all he ever dreamed of and more. He couldn't wait to see what life would be like on the set. He couldn't wait to show Noah and Stanley that he really could act. He couldn't wait to kiss Kurt.
Wait, hold up, kiss Kurt? It had just dawned on Blaine that he would get to kiss his biggest celebrity crush. And Kurt would kiss him back. His eyes went wide and Kurt chuckled.
"What?"
"I get to kiss you," Blaine said in a daze. Kurt just chuckled again and to Blaine's great surprise, kissed him on the cheek.
"Yes, you get to kiss me."
"Right," Blaine said, still dazed. Well, this was going well so far.
