Chapter 1
It was around a week after she was born did Blaine run out. Alicewas now 14 and didn't remember her father. It was weird to call him her dad considering she didn't even know him, but to her he wasn't. Sometimes she would wake up in middle of the night and hear Kurt cry...She hated seeing him upset...He would always say that he missed her papa.
She loved and hated her papa. How could he just get up and leave? Yet, he was her biological father, but that didn't matter to her. A father isn't about genes or genetics; it's about who steps up to the plate and has the balls to actually raise a child.
The house looked like he never left. Pictures of them where splattered against the wall, all his clothes were still hung up in Kurt's closet, and Kurt always set out an extra plate when ever they ate, hoping that maybe one day Blaine would magically come home one night.
She had been bottling all these questions that her father would never answer. Kurt always brushed off her queries and changed the subject. However, she was getting an answertonightno matter what. The ache of not knowing her biological father was killing her. So when Kurt began to set the table she felt nervous.
"How was school today sweetie?" Kurt grinned as he sat down a plate of baked ziti. She gave him the cliché smile she usually did before casually taking a bite. "Good." She said simply Kurt sat down next to her pouring some orange juice for her. Classic Kurt, making sure she had some type of fruit or vegetable at dinner.
"Good? That's it?" Kurt urged nudging her with his elbow. "Well when I was cleaning your room I found a note I don't think I was suppose to see. The one about Jason and his dreamy eyes?" She slapped her hand to her forehead blushing furiously. "Daaaaad!" She whined as Kurt just laughed. "I'm sorry honey." He said with a little smile. "You know you can talk to me about anything, right?"
"Yeah I know." She said playing with her food before she took another bite. Oh the irony! She wanted to just blurt out 'WHERE AND WHO IS MY FATHER', but reframed. "Speaking of cute boys, what are you doingtonight?" She asked shyly. Kurt didn't date and when someone asked him he would always turn them down.
Kurt snorted before choking on some wine. "Well I thought we were going to have movie marathon Friday. It's been a tradition ever since-"
"Your father left." She finished for him. He raised an eyebrow before sitting there in silence studying her. He got up placing his sauce covered plate into the sink and crossed his arms leaning on the counter. "Ok, what's up? Your acting weird."
She cowardly played with her food out of habit. "Who's my dad?" She said softly. "I mean of course you are, but my other one." She looked up at her father who was obviously stunned by the question. He came over and put his hand on her back like usual. "Honey we've talked about this before-"
"No we haven't!" She yelled, butimmediately regretted it. She looked over at him and could see the tears forming in his eyes as he stared out the window. She knew this was a sore subject for him. The mere indication of her father made Kurt burst into tears. "I'm sorry." She apologized. "Daddy, I didn't mean to make you cry I was just...I'm not a little girl anymore. I can handle it dad, I really can."
Kurt looked her whipping the tear tracks off his face before responding. "I know you can honey." He said with a smile, but she could see the pain in his eyes no matter how much he smiled. "It's so crazy to think your fourteen already." He grabbed her hand pressing a kiss to it and pushed her side swept bangs out of her eyes. "You have his beautiful eyes." He said staring into her great big pools of hazel.
She blushed before looking into a near by mirror. His eyes? She always thought they looked similar in photos and pictures. "Really?" She said excitedly. "Tell me more."
Kurt let out a long sigh. What had he done? She was so desperate to learn about her father and Kurt didn't blame her. He knew it wasn't easy for her either. Despite his heartache for Blaine, she still deserved to know about her father. "His name is Blaine Anderson."
"What a proper name for such an ass." She giggled.
"Language!" He warned before pinching his nose out of stress. "He wasn't an ass, he was a gentleman." Kurt clarified for the millionth time. Despite what his friends and family members said, He didn't blame Blaine for leaving. He knew what pressure could do to someone. He panicked, something we all do. "He was a good guy." Kurt sniffled. "I knew you were going to react this way, this was a bad idea." He said starting to head towards his bedroom, but she managed to grab his wrist just in time.
"Daddy please." She said desperately. "I need to know this. I promise I won't say anything else." Her father always told her to speak her mind no matter what, but she quickly learned that sometimes you have to be quiet to fully understand.
Kurt let out another sigh sitting back down at the table. "What else do you want to know?" He asked clearly un-thrilled about the whole thing.
"How did he leave?" She asked quietly, but she got no response. She looked over at her father who was avoiding any type of eye contact. She quickly snapped her head forward again. The awkward silence was eating her alive. Did she go to far? Was this too much? She heard him breathe deeply before a sob escaped his lips. She slowly looked at him again and steadily wrapped her arms around him.
Kurt pulled his knees up to his chest as he covered his face with his hands. "Daddy I'm so sorry." She said almost in tears herself. "We can stop now if you'd like." It felt weird comforting her dad. When ever she fell as a kid her dad was always there to kiss her boo boo better. However, this was one boo boo she couldn't kiss away.
Kurt looked her and wrapped her arms around her pulling her on his lap. "No it's ok." He said hoarsely. "He just left. I remember I was going to go get your bottle and there was a note on the fridge. He didn't even pack, he just disappeared."
"Do you still have the note?" She asked timidly.
Kurt nodded sadly before letting out a stuttered breath. "It's in the basement cluttered in my things."
Deciding she better stop for the day, Alice gave her father a goodnight kiss. "Thank you daddy. I've think I've heard enough fortonight." It broke her heart to see how relieved he looked. She knew there was more, but she wasn't going to do that to her father. "I'm going to get ready for bed, you should come too." She said holding his hand. "It's been a long week."...
After brushing her teeth and successfully completing her moisturizing routine she hopped into bed for her father to come say good night. Just like usual, she heard the flickering of the light switches and the light threw her door crack turn black. She snuggled into her plethora of pillows before she heard a creak at her door. She felt the bed sink next to her and shifted so she was facing him.
"Good night sweetheart." He said bending down pressing a minty kiss to her forehead. He grabbed her hand and lightly began rubbing circular motions on her palm. "I'm really sorry." He finally spoke with sorrow in his eyes. "I know I've been keeping information from you and it's not fair." He let out a sigh before laying next to her for a moment. "It's just hard for me you know?"
She nodded slowly wrapping her arms around her fathers neck. "I know daddy. It's ok, I don't need to know about him. He doesn't matter to me. You wanna know why?"
Kurt hesitantly glanced over his shoulder at her, still frowning just slightly. "Why?" He mumbled.
"Because I have you. You're my real dad." Smiling, She looked up glad to see that he was no longer frowning. "Blaine or whatever his name is, just helped create me. You, however, raised me to be who I am today."
Sniffling, Kurt slowly moved forward to slide his arms around Her, and he let out a long sigh. "I love you." He says resting his head on her scrawny shoulder. He sat there for awhile before Kurt pulled away patting her shoulder. "Get some rest ok? Don't stay up too long."
She nodded before grabbing her phone. "I won't." Kurt smiled before closing the door behind him.
Alison Opal Hummel did not need her father truly. However, did she want to meet him? The answer was still yes. She had so many questions for him, only him, like why did he go and leave his father with a newborn? Did he regret leaving? Why hadn't he returned? She needed answers.
She pulled up her Facebook app and quickly typed in her password waiting for her home screen to load. Clicking the little search box, she typed in B.L.A.I.N.E A.N.D.E.R.S.O.N. several if not thousands of men popped up. Luckily, she didn't have to scroll very far. He didn't look that different then the photos she'd seen. Her stomach flipped. Her father, her actually dad's information was right in front of her. Why hadn't she thought about this earlier?! She clicked on his name leading her to his page. Sadly his profile was private. However, his information was free to see.
