The next morning, Blaine woke up earlier than normal. His parents weren't even awake yet. He jumped out of bed, remembering why he was so excited. Maybe he could ask Kurt the question that had been on his mind all day. He went downstairs and smiled. Blaine looked at the piano, felt its smooth white and black keys. Whenever Blaine felt extreme emotion--if he was really happy or really sad--he always felt he needed to sing. After three songs, he could no longer concentrate, so he ran upstairs to the kitchen.
Unless he was outside, Blaine was fidgety, running around and trying to occupy himself. He could not stay still unless he was alone, left to his thoughts. The boy poured himself some Lucky Charms and took the bowl outside. He never asked if he could eat outside, but his parents never seemed to mind. He sat by his tree again, only going inside to put his bowl in the sink. He leaned against the tree, closing his eyes, humming his favorite song once again.

Angelica woke to her alarm clock buzzing noisily. She'd set it for 8:00AM, because she would have to go to work at 9:00, her husband at 10:30. Instinctively, she looked out the window. Sure enough, her little Blainey-boo was sitting under the tree, deep in thought. Angie admired her son; he had this love for nature. It was amazing how he looked at the trees in awe.
He was a quiet, shy kid but really cared about people. Blaine had a kind heart and forgave easily--maybe too easily for his own good. He always thought about how he would want to be forgiven if he made the mistake the other person made, so he forgave. These were traits she hoped he would never lose; it was beautiful to see how he always tried to cheer people up when they were sad. Angie sighed, tearing her eyes away from the window to resume getting ready.

Kurt awoke to his mother's voice sounding through the house. He tiptoed up the stairs, leaning against the door to hear better. The little boy smiled as he heard the lyrics to one of his favorite songs--it was one of the first songs his mom had taught him. Kurt pushed the door open, trying to be as quiet as possible. He walked around, following the sound of her voice. The boy soon found himself standing in the living room behind his mom.
After admiring his mother's voice a little longer, Kurt joined in. Smiling, Elizabeth turned around. Still singing, she picked Kurt up and swung him in her arms. As the song finished, Kurt, grinning, screamed to be put down. Elizabeth layed him on the couch and yelled, "Tickle monster!" and began to tickle him.
Kurt laughed and screeched, "Stop it!" Soon they were both laughing so hard they were struggling to breathe. She finally sat down next to him. Kurt curled into his mother's side and closed his eyes. She smiled softly down at him.
"Kurt, I need to get up and make breakfast," she told him with a tinge of sadness in her voice.
Kurt frowned and stuck out his lower lip, "No!"
"Don't you want to eat?"
He thought for a few seconds, then he finally sat up. "What are we eating?"
Getting off the couch, Elizabeth answered, "Birds' nest! Isn't that how you like your eggs?"
Smiling, Kurt followed his mother to the kitchen. "Then can I see Blaine?"
"If he's awake by then, yes, you may."
"Yay!" Kurt exclaimed, sitting at the table.

"BLAINE!!" Kurt yelled. In his excitement, he ran into the tree. "Owie!"
Blaine opened his eyes to see Kurt standing above him. He got up from his spot on the ground and gave Kurt a hug. "Hi!"
Hugging back, Kurt said, "Hi, Blaine! What should we do today?"
"Kurt," Blaine said, sounding serious. "I wanted to ask you . . . will you be my best friend?" He down at the ground shyly.
"I would love to!!" Blaine looked up to see Kurt grinning at him. "Now, what should we do?"
"What types of things to best friends do?" Blaine asked, relieved.
Kurt thought for a moment. His face lit up and he said, "We should make FRIENDSHIP BRACELETS! And a secret handshake! And do all the things best friends do!" After a few more seconds he added, "We could even wear the same outfits!"
"Do you have things to make friendship bracelets?" Blaine asked.
Kurt answered, "I'd bet my mama does."
Smiling, Blaine allowed Kurt to take his hand and lead him to his house. They were going to be best friends forever!
