“Blaine, you’re the one who’s been gushing about how much you like Paul for all these weeks. What kind of friend would I be if I didn’t make sure you got to see him and the rest of the Beatles in the flesh?”
Blaine sighs and grins at his best friend. He was so glad he had him. Without Kurt, Blaine didn’t even want to know where he would be. Probably lost and confused and not really understanding what was wrong with him. Probably not thinking that it was normal to be the way he was. That he didn’t somehow choose to like men without realizing. That it was something he was born with. Kurt was like him and he was the most perfect person he knew. If there was nothing wrong with Kurt, there couldn’t be anything wrong with him.
So he was more than a little bit head-over-heels for him, but what was he expected to be when Kurt was everything he had ever wanted in one person? No, as he looked at Kurt grinning and drinking in the buzz of the crowd, Blaine knew that there was no one else in the world for him. Even if Kurt didn’t see it his way, he would still be madly in love with him.
“This is so exciting, Blaine,” said Kurt suddenly, grasping Blaine’s hand and holding it tightly in his. “Think about it - who else is ever going to get an opportunity like this? We’re making history.”
And Blaine thought about it with a frown.
This shouldn’t be history. We’re standing waiting to cheer for four men who won’t even really acknowledge our existence when they pass us. History shouldn’t be about people worshiping a small group of British men.
History should be real. It should be about stuff that really mattered. It should change the world.
Thus, Blaine took it upon himself to make history, leaning over to press his lips very certainly to Kurt’s, pleased to feel his friend melt into the kiss. At the same time the crowd screamed and Blaine realized that the band must be getting out of their plane and into their car, but he couldn’t break away from where he was. Nothing would ever be as important as that moment.
Blaine didn’t get to see the Beatles that day, but he did get to meet his perfect future.
