12) Scandals!
"Shit. Why are these all wrong?!" Kurt complains to his reflection. After three hours and about eighteen outfits, Kurt still hadn't found the right outfit to wear to scandals with Blaine tonight. Flopping down on his bed and closing his eyes, he imagines his whole wardrobe in his head, picturing how each article of clothing looks on him.
Sighing yet again, he picks up his phone and dials Mercedes' number.
"Hey, white boy! What's up?!" She asks enthusiastically.
"I can't decide what to wear! Blaine convinced me to go to scandals tonight and my clothes aren't agreeing with me!" Kurt complains, hoping Mercedes will know what to do. She just laughs.
"Sweetie, I don't think that's possible."
"IT IS!! I've tried on EIGHTEEN outfits, 'cedes!" Flipping onto his stomach, he groans into his mattress and complains, "This is hopeless!"
"No, it's not. It's simple," Mercedes argues resolutely.
"Wear a blue button down, that new black blazer you just got, the black and white striped skinny jeans and your white Docs." Kurt can practically hear her beaming through the phone.
Having rifled through his clothes as she was talking, he laid the outfit on his bed, arranging it so he could see what it would look like on.
"Hmm, okay. I see where you're going with this."
After they hung up, Kurt changed, styled his hair, and snapped a quick picture to send to Mercedes to show her that he had gone with her suggestion.
Before he knew it, Blaine was at the door.
"Where are you going, kiddo?" Burt asks before Kurt can slip out.
"I'm going out with Blaine, then I'm gonna go over to Mercedes' for a 'Project Runway'-athon." He lies smoothly, hoping Burt doesn't see the guilt behind his façade.
"Okay. I won't wait up then." Burt smirks, making Kurt feel ten times worse I am a horrible person, betraying his trust like this. he thinks, faking a laugh at his dad's comment.
"Well, goodnight then!" Kurt waves, shutting the door behind him after a clipped 'night' from Burt.
"Hi," Blaine says somewhat bashfully.
"Hey," Kurt replies "Let's go before I regret this."
Blaine smiles wistfully, pulling out of Kurt's driveway and driving, presumably, Towards scandals.
Blaine rocks on the balls of his feet as the man checks their ID's, waving them in carelessly.
"If you want to get caught, that's how." Kurt whispers once they're safely inside.
"Huh?" Blaine seems completely confused. Kurt mimics him, bouncing more noticeably than Blaine had been.
"Oh," Blaine blushes, suddenly interested in the floor.
"Aw, babe, it's okay. You're cute." Kurt encourages, grabbing Blaine's hand and heading towards the bar.
An hour and three drinks -on Blaine's part, Kurt planned on remaining sober, 'thank you very much'- later, Kurt and Blaine are on the dance floor, dancing with the beat of the music. After a particularly embarrassing dance move, both boys break into laughter.
"LOOK WHO IT IS!" A voice interrupts their fun.
"OH, HEY!" Blaine shouts "Kurt, look, it's Sebastian!" As adorable as his excitement is, Kurt can't help the jealousy that flares up in him for the same reason.
"Hello, Sebastian." Kurt says with as much fake sincerity as he can muster.
Sebastian smirks cockily.
"Someone's obviously not had enough to drink. Seriously, loosen up, Hummel!"
"I don't drink." Kurt shoots back venomously.
"Why, cuz you're scared daddy would yell at you?" Sebastian accuses, putting his hand up to his cheek in mock-innocence.
"You think I'm scared?! Hah!" Somewhere in Kurt's mind, he knows it's a bad idea, but when did he ever back down from a challenge?
"Prove me wrong, then." Sebastian wiggles his eyebrows, then turns his head toward the bar counter.
"Fine," Kurt grins, strutting over to the counter. "Get me a hurricane." he snaps to the bartender, throwing a glare in Sebastian's direction.
Not ten minutes after the alcohol's in his system, Blaine is suddenly at his side.
"Kuuurt! Dance with me!" He slurs, tugging at Kurt's hand.
"Okay, don't rip my arm off!" Kurt chuckles, following him out onto the dance floor.
"Hey, Blaine." Kurt says, loud enough so that it would be heard above the music, but only between them.
"Yeah?"
"I think I might be a little bit drunk." Kurt admits, laughing. Blaine chuckles for a second before leaning close and placing rough kisses along Kurt's jaw.
After about twenty more minutes of dancing, they plop down into the barstools.
"HEY GUYS!" A very drunk Sebastian appears behind them.
"HOW'S IT GOIN? ISN'T THIS PLACE GREAT?!"
"YES!" Blaine shouts back, downing the rest of his fifth drink and slinging his arm around Sebastian's shoulder like he isn't six inches shorter than the other boy.
Right before Kurt can open his mouth to tell Sebastian off, his phone vibrates in his pocket.
Hey, White boy, how's the gay bar? ;) -M
oh my god cede, it'd awsome
I thought you weren't going to get drunk? -M
I'm not drumk.
Yes, honey, I think you are. -M
Kurt sighs, the time on his phone catching his eye. 2:26am?!
"As much as I HATE to interrupt." He glares at Sebastian, "We should go."
"But Kuuuurt, we JUST got here!" Blaine complains.
"Blaine, it's two thirty." Kurt reasons, slurring a bit.
"Oh. Oookaaayyy. Bye Sebastian!" Blaine grins and waves, while Kurt practically pulls him out of the club by the collar of his shirt.
"What the hell was THAT?!" Kurt shouts when they get into the parking lot.
"Huh?" Blaine seems completely dumbfounded by the question.
"You were all over Sebastian!" Kurt accuses, pulling his phone out of his pocket.
"NO, I wasn't." Blaine argues.
"Sure. Shut up for a minute." He says, pressing the talk button on his phone.
"Hey! What's up?" Mercedes answers.
" 'Cedes, can you maybe come get us?" Kurt asks, trying not to slur and failing.
"Sure. I'll be there soon. Do you guys need a place to crash?" She offers.
"Mercedes, what would I do without you?! Thanks girl!"
"Yep! See ya!"
Kurt hangs up and turns on his heel towards Blaine's car.
"Really? You practically accuse me of cheating then walk away from me? Cool." Blaine says with an edge to his voice.
"C'mon, let's get out of the cold, wait for Mercedes and talk in your car." Kurt suggests, rolling his eyes.
"Oh," Blaine shivers, finally noticing the cold.
As soon as they're comfortable, Blaine can feel the tense atmosphere.
"Kurt, I wasn't all ov-"
"Yeah, you kind of were."
"Not on purpose... Are you jealous of him?"
"What?!" Kurt asks, too loud and too fast.
"Oh my God, you are!" Blaine exclaims.
"So what if I am, you were hanging on him like a freaking orangutan!"
"Kurt, look at me. Maybe I was, I'm sorry. I kind of get... Friendly when I'm drunk. But there's a huge difference between you and Sebastian."
"And what's that?"
"I love YOU. He's just some guy. You, Kurt, are my beautiful, perfect, sexy boyfriend." Blaine says and the passion in his eyes is intensified by the alcohol in his system.
Lacking an appropriate answer for Blaine's declaration, Kurt just leans down and kisses him.
After a second of hesitation, what was supposed to be a sweet kiss turned hot and needy. Tongues battling for dominance, hands fisting into the others' hair, moans filling the otherwise silent car, phones ringing - no wait, that doesn't belong...
"Ugh." Kurt pulls away, Answering his phone without looking at the caller ID.
"Hello?"
"Hey. I'm here." Mercedes' voice says on the other end of the line.
"Oh. Yep. I see you." he hangs up. "C'mon, babe, 'Cedes is here." Kurt opens his door, sighing apologetically at Blaine's pout.
"Come on. We can make out more later." he promises, smirking. That seems to brighten Blaine's spirit.
"Okay! Love you."
"Love you, too." Kurt smiles, wondering how he got to be so lucky.
We'll be okay. he thinks to himself and it's true. No matter what happens, both boys know that they can overcome it because they love each other.
