Author's Notes: So the first real chapter. Unbeta'd. When Black Bird meets Blaine Anderson for the first time...

Kurt had connections – a lot of connections, so it was easy to sneak into NYU as a new student and Kurt Hummel seriously knew how to blend in. Since he knew he couldn´t make this a big spectacle he even left his sai swords at home. Well, he was the only assassin at the organization who knew how to work with them and he did it whenever possible. But he had to stay still – at least for now.

He already saw a bunch of pictures of Blaine Anderson but he wasn´t prepared for him in the flesh as it turned out. It was lunch time and Kurt wandered through the hallways when he heard some beautiful tunes. Well, okay… this was the musical department of NYU so it was normally to hear someone play music here, but these were tunes which touched the assassin´s heart in the slightest way – and he didn´t know why.

Slowly Kurt entered the room the music was coming from and there he sat. Blaine Anderson.
His swift fingers seemed to dance over the keys of the piano he was sitting in front of. His dark curls slicked back with an awful amount of gel, dressed in a white button-down shirt, grey cardigan and black trousers. He didn´t recognize Kurt and continued playing his song. A song Kurt never heard before and that meant something since music was a huge part of his life – at least when he wasn´t working. Kurt just stood there for a long moment until he cleared his throat.
“Excuse me?” he said loudly enough to be heard. Immediately Blaine´s fingers stopped and the last tune faded away and the dark-haired boy turned around to face Kurt.
“Yes?” he said with a nice smile on his lips, not in the least upset that he was interrupted. “Can I help you?”
Kurt wasn´t mentally prepared for these amber eyes which looked so gentle. He swallowed hard and reminded himself that this here was HIS JOB. A job that had to be done and nothing else.

“Well, I was just wondering… what´s the piece called that you just played..?” he mumbled and took a step towards Blaine, who still sat in front of the piano.
“Oh, this?” Blaine answered and laughed quietly. “I wrote that… nothing special. Just some tunes I threw together.” “That sounded more than some random tunes.” Kurt said and managed a smile. “Anyway I´m new here. My name is Kurt.” he finally said and took another step until he stood right in front of Blaine to outstretch his hand. The dark-haired boy returned the handshake and smiled.
“Welcome, Kurt. I´m Blaine.”

As if Kurt didn´t knew that and he instantly thought about the moment when the light would disappear in these amber eyes – and that very soon according to his  plan.

So Kurt invited Blaine for lunch off-campus and the other student simply agreed. ‘How careless’ , Kurt thought with a smirk when nobody watched him and so he continued to pretend that he wants to get to know Blaine Anderson, the popular music major.

“So you just enrolled here, Kurt?” Blaine asked with a smile while he sipped at his medium drip. They sat in a small café near campus which Blaine had always liked.
“Uhm…yes.” Kurt mumbled while setting his cup, with a non-fat mocha in it, on the table.
“I always loved music. I guess that´s part of who I am.”
And that wasn´t even a lie. Kurt never wanted a career as an assassin but life sometimes doesn´t turn out the way you want and so he ended up being one. Kurt wished he could get done with this assignment rather sooner than later – because he started feeling strange. He didn´t like Blaine´s gentle smile, his carefree attitude and the curious look in these golden eyes.

“I know how you feel. Music is like... everything I am. It makes me feel so much.” Blaine said with a smile.
“Recently it made me realize how I´m with the wrong person.” He said and Kurt could see how Blaine´s thoughts drifted apart.

“Blaine Anderson!” A melodic voice interrupted the talk of the two young men.
Blaine turned around just to look in the face of no other than the famous Rachel Berry.
“I tried to call you several times! Did you turn you phone off?”
Blaine rolled with his eyes.
“Rachel…” The dark-haired boy sighed. “Please don´t make a scene. Not again. I said no already… several times.”
“But Blaine… we both know you make a horrible mistake here.”
“No. It´s how I feel and I can´t be with you anymore.”
“You will regret this, Anderson. Nobody walks around and breaks a Berry´s heart that easily...” she impended and stormed out of the little café.

Rachel Berry. Kurt recognized the name and a few seconds later he knew why. The client who gave the assignment was called Berry. Maybe not Rachel… he didn´t know for sure….he just ran quickly over the sheets of information but he´s sure he had seen the name Berry on it. Kurt turned to Blaine and saw how taken aback he was.

“Well, that would be the person I just spoke about if you didn´t recognized.”
“It didn´t end well I suppose?!” Kurt regretted asking this question in an instant. He didn´t want to know anything about Blaine Anderson´s life. But he had to pretend in order to get closer to him.
“You suppose right. She just won´t respect my new choice of life. I always knew that I´m somehow … different but never thought about it i”
Kurt raised one eyebrow.
“I´m gay.” Blaine said straightforward and Kurt swallowed hard.
“Oh.”, was the only thing Kurt could say.
“It´s not something you can choose, you know? I just felt that being with Rachel isn´t enough. It´s not what I really want.”

Blaine looked at Kurt and had to smile seeing his confused face.
“I don´t know why I´m telling you all this, I´m sorry. You simply wanted to get to know some people here and of all things you end up here with me, a guy who confesses his change in his sexual interests within the first hour.”

“Don´t worry…” Kurt said with a sweet smile on his face while rearranging his scarf.
“You seem to be quite the honest guy, I like that.”
Blaine´s eyes lit up when Kurt said this.
“Yes… I can´t help but being honest. It´s also a thing I expect from other people towards me. “

Kurt stopped breathing for a second and stared and the dark-haired boy in front of him.
Honesty.

Not something he was familiar with.
